Responsibility for environmental protection belongs to man and has led to a number of actions at various levels (global, continental, regional / zonal, national, local). To achieve this goal, the development of an environmental monitoring system with improved features is a solution. The innovative character is related to the use of a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) distance type sensor to monitor the environment, more precisely to track the physical changes that may occur. The fact that a video camera is not used ensures the robustness of the method, in addition to the lower cost. Basically, the LiDAR sensor is an additional method of tracking possible changes in the environment (deforestation, natural disasters). The objectives to be achieved in this article are related to the establishment of a method for adapting the signal from a LiDAR sensor, used to be integrated in a sensor network structure. Practical solutions to ensure a stable sensor signal are identified and analyzed. By the fact that this type of sensor communicates on a serial bus, a versatility of the presented solution is ensured, being possible an implementation in any programming language and operating system that allows serial communication.

Bow thrusters are used in marine vessels, ships and boats. Bow thrusters are propulsion devices who improve maneuverability of the ship. They enable easy movement of a ship in confined areas and also for docking purposes. The article proposes a mathematical model of a ship power plant feeding a bow thruster based on a synchronous reluctance motor. With the help of the model, different modes of operation of the power plant were studied, as well as transient modes caused by the control system, as well as by disturbances from the external environment.

Determining the optimal value of the power factor of synchronous motors in changing operating conditions is a problem of the present day. The main directions of modern research on the subject are based on the application of Fuzzy Logic, Particle Swarm Optimization and artificial neural networks. The paper presents a built up mathematical model for defining the optimal value of the power factor of synchronous motors by applying the mathematical theory of experimental design. The independent variables, influencing the evaluated parameter are selected. An adequate mathematical model has been obtained, by means of which the optimal value of the power factor of synchronous motors in operating conditions is found. The developed mathematical model is convenient for practical use and no specialized software is needed for its application.

The flow of information exchange between employers and job seekers - students, PhD students, alumni - are analyzed. The tasks of the career centres to organize and direct the information flows for vacancies in the conditions of a pandemic are presented. A web-based platform is presented, which supports a database for students, PhD students and alumni. The platform allows employers to prepare and send messages to students, taking their professional fields and specialties into account. The relational schema of the database is also presented, as well as the process of publishing a message in the system.

A first of its kind gravity-based benchmarking model for assessing the energy efficiency in transportation processes provided by motor vehicles has been developed. The model allows comparison with the theoretical minimum and separates the consumption into useful and non-useful part. Based on the model, a computer algorithm is developed and a software tool for automated investigations is created. The workability and the applicability of the model is tested for two typical motor vehicles in the field. The average efficiency varies from 0.12 % to 0.41 %. The data show very low levels of energy efficiency and are indicative of the need to rethink the considered transport technologies.

In this study is performed an analysis of the key factors, influencing accuracy of outdoor animal recognition and counting. Initially, the commonly used sensors, their area of applications and mounting places are overviewed. Next, are analyzed a number of studies, dealing with counting and recognition of livestock and wild animals and their goals, methods used and data sources are summarized. The main factors, influencing the accuracy of recognition and counting algorithms include the px/m ratio of the images, the animal and environment color, the behavior of animals, the presence of artificial objects etc. The results show that many of them are common between livestock and wild animals but there are also some differences.

This paper presents a comparative study of inverters used in the wireless transmission of electricity: fullbridge, half-bridge, half-bridge with mid-voltage point capacitors, class E. The inverter simulation was performed in Matlab Simulink using resistive and reactive loads (LC, RLC). The paper’s purpose is to achieve a multidimensional comparative analysis of each type of inverter used in high-frequency voltages coils supplying for wireless power transmission, determining the advantages and disadvantages for each type o load.

The article presents one of the aspects affecting network security, in particular accessibility to communication devices by executing a sequence of rules for a specific time interval. Intuitionistic fuzzy estimators were used to calculate the degrees of membership non-membership and hesitation margin of the packets falling into the allowed lists. Generalized nets and indexed matrices are used to modeling the processes described port knocking.

The paper presents a critical measurement systems analysis (MSA) of the implementation of "go-no go" gauges for control of mechanical parts. The MSA by attributes is generally overlooked when compared to MSA by variables. Nevertheless, this type of MSA is especially useful when applied in mass production where the use of variable gauges is time-consuming and costly. The outcomes of the study can be adapted to similar measurement systems analysis for other manufacturing processes and mechanical parts.
