This paper introduces a new kind of instrument designed to inspect the dynamic characteristics of the automobile. It mainly introduces the principle and the design of the circuit of the instrument. This instrument is used to inspect dynamic characteristics of the accelerograph driver equipment of the automobile. The analysis of the experimental datum is provided.

The analysis on the human-vehicle-road characteristics of vehicle rear-end impact accidents 汽车追尾碰撞事故人-车-路特性分析

Through the analysis on 120 rear-end vehicle impact accidents of Beijing in 2004, the basic characteristics of this kind of accident are obtained, including the actual rules of occurring time, vehicles types and speed, drivers' ages and origins, road types and so on. The results show: car to heavy truck and truck to truck, the main two types, in most of which the front vehicles park or run at a lower speed, and rear vehicles drive tiredly at a high speed, should be investigated and prevented especially. The statistic results are analyzed, then the methods against drive tiredness and rear-end impact are presented by discussing the happening reasons of such accidents in the point of view of human-vehicle-road system.
通过对2004年北京市120起追尾车辆碰撞事故的分析,得出了追尾车辆碰撞事故的基本特征,包括发生时间、车辆类型和速度、驾驶员年龄和籍贯、道路类型等的实际规律。结果表明:车对重车和车对车这两种主要类型,其中大部分是前面车辆低速停车或行驶,后面车辆高速疲劳行驶,应重点调查和预防。对统计结果进行了分析,并从人-车-路系统的角度探讨了此类事故发生的原因,提出了应对驾驶疲劳和追尾冲击的方法。

The high performance car license plate recognition system and its core techniques 高性能汽车车牌识别系统及其核心技术

In this paper, a high performance car license plate recognition system and its some core techniques have been introduced briefly. The introduced significant techniques include: 1) novel lighting and imaging mechanics; 2) newly developed algorithms for license plate location; 3) deformable template based character segmentation techniques. For license plate location from real nature light image, we present MGD model of car plate. Using this model, coarse and accurate license plate location algorithm has been developed. The location rate of the newly developed algorithm has reached 97.8%. The introduced systems have been used widely in china. In real all-weather application, it has shown over 97% recognition rate. This excellent system can be used in expressway toll , car monitoring and electronic-police system.
本文简要介绍了一种高性能的汽车车牌识别系统及其一些核心技术。介绍的重要技术包括:1)新颖的照明和成像力学;2)新开发的车牌定位算法;3)基于变形模板的字符分割技术。为了从真实自然光图像中定位车牌,提出了车牌的MGD模型。利用该模型,提出了车牌定位的粗、精算法。新算法的定位率达到了97.8%。引进的系统已在国内得到广泛应用。在实际的全天候应用中,其识别率达到97%以上。该系统可用于高速公路收费、汽车监控和电子警察系统。

Using Bluetooth wireless technology in vehicles 在车辆中使用蓝牙无线技术

The usage of wires in the vehicles meets the disadvantage of heavy, complex and expensive. At the same time, the consumers expect that there are more functions in the vehicles. Bluetooth is a low-power, low-cost, short-range wireless communication system. This paper introduces its two level in-vehicle applications. At the system level, it could be used to replace the wired connection in the nonsafety-critical control network, and brings convenience to the vehicle's diagnosis, repair and software upgrades. At the user device level, integrating the mobile electronic devices to the vehicle to form a wireless network, it could provide people with a convenient and multifunctional device interface for the business and entertainment objectives on travel.

A nonlinear diagnosis method of gear early fatigue crack 齿轮早期疲劳裂纹的非线性诊断方法

For gears, periodic impulses indicate that there are faults in the components. However, it is difficult to detect the impulses at the early stage of fault because they are so weak that buried in the noise. According to the characters of vibration signal coming from gearboxes, a method using chaotic oscillator is presented to detect the early fatigue crack of the gear. This method is in a reverse way compared with the common chaotic oscillator based method. After introduction of gearbox vibration signals to the chaotic oscillator, by recognizing the state transformation of the oscillator from large-scale period to chaos, the state of two side bands of meshing frequency can be confirmed, and then the crack can be detected. The method is demonstrated in practice. In this paper, it is also presented how to use symbol sequence statistics to automatically identify the state transformation of the chaotic oscillator.

An improved pedestrian detection approach for cluttered background in nighttime 一种针对夜间杂乱背景的改进行人检测方法

Pedestrian detection is one of the most interesting topics in driver assistant systems. In a normal two-step detection framework: image segmentation (thresholding) and recognition, the pedestrian areas usually connect with other objects after segmentation, especially in cluttered nighttime images. The bad segmentation result causes the recognition module not to identify the pedestrians. This paper presents a fast template matching approach to locate the most pedestrian-like areas (candidates) in the complex background. At most of the time, the template matching method produces too many non-human candidates. However, our approach employs a set of efficient and simple filters to reject most of unwished candidates to reduce false alarm rate. Experiments show that the proposed method can segment the pedestrian areas well and promote the ability of the pedestrian detection system.

Looking-in and looking-out of a vehicle: selected investigations in computer vision based enhanced vehicle safety 车辆内望与外望:基于计算机视觉增强车辆安全性的若干研究

This paper presents an overview of investigations into the role of computer vision technology in developing safer automobiles. We consider vision systems which cannot only look out of the vehicle to detect and track roads, avoid hitting obstacles or pedestrian, but simultaneously look inside the vehicle to monitor the attentiveness of the driver and even predict her intentions. In this paper, a systems-oriented framework for developing computer vision technology for safer automobiles is presented. We will consider three main components of the system, driver, vehicle, and vehicle surround. We will discuss various issues and ideas for developing models for these main components as well as activities associated with the complex task of safe driving. The paper includes discussion of novel sensory systems and algorithms for capturing not only the dynamic surround information of the vehicle but also the state, intent and activity patterns of drivers.

Intelligence approach of traffic sign recognition based on color standardization 基于颜色标准化的交通标志识别智能方法

Nowadays, for the BP neural network based outdoor traffic sign recognition problems, the recognition rate is generally between 60% and 70%. Based on the results analysis, one may come to a conclusion that the key factors affecting recognition rate are the color distortion caused by the color complexity. This paper present a new solution according to the idea of simplifying the complex problem, using color information and intelligent approach. The first step is to break the complex color information down to 5 kinds of standard color, and then employ BP neural network to classification. In this article BP network is used for color standardization, selecting 23 normalization signs as training set and 531 real signs as testing set for BP network. By doing so 100% average recognition rate is achieved. At the same time, it shows the better robustness of the proposed approach for the color distortion of traffic sign in terms of either the structure parameter or the training parameter of network.

Autonomous land vehicle is a complex, nonlinear and uncertain system. At present, one of the key problems in the researching field of ALV is the lack of robustness in motion control. In order to solve this problem, the kinematics model of ALV was presented at first in this paper. Then based on fuzzy logical system of "data-fuzzy", a lateral controller of Mamdani reasoning system for ALV was designed. The design of the controller utilized not only the in-out data information but also the language information generated by expertise, so the controller designed have a better performance, and can accommodate a wide range of velocity and different conditions of the road. The experiment results show that the controller designed has enough robustness, and can make ALV follow reference paths quickly and accurately.

A FPGA based driver drowsiness detecting system 基于FPGA的驱动器困倦检测系统

A large number of traffic accidents are caused by the driver fatigue or drowsiness. These misfortunes can be avoided by keeping a close watch on tired characters of the driver and making a warning signal immediately. This function is implemented by a FPGA based vehicle driver surveillance system presented in this paper. Several well-known image processing algorithms like gray scale projection, edge detection with Prewitt operator and complexity function are combined together to judge whether the driver has his eyes closed. Their hardware architectures have been modeled using the Altera DSPBuilder and integrated as a co-processor to the main Nios II processor which controls the whole system. All of the algorithm hardware implementations have been achieved in a parallel and pipelined way and discussed in detail. The final system is based on the Altera Stratix II EP2S60 FPGA devices and has been proved to meet the basic requirements of drowsiness detection.
