Large profile, high price, low efficiency in realization prevent phased array from being broadly used in automobile radar and communication systems, though phased array has high performance. The article puts forward a new kind of shifterless phased array based on coupled oscillators. The article studies the dynamics of nearest-neighbor coupled oscillators after reviewing the principles of electrical beam-scanning. According to the need of beam-scanning the desired solutions of phase dynamics are established. From that, we determine how the accessible parameters of coupled oscillators can be adjusted. The article also determines conditions under which those solutions are stable, i.e., physically realizable. Computer simulations are used to testify the usefulness of the method. Then in the last part of the article a complete transmit-receive scheme for vehicle radar and communication systems is given out.

In order to stabilize the electric power delivery from the alternator of a vehicle system, a conception of introducing the perturbing power filter (PPF) to vehicle generation system is proposed in this paper. Make use of PPF, the driven velocity of alternator transmitted from engine can be smoothened in constant. Consequently, the supply voltage of electric power can be maintained in stability. The effectiveness and validity of this proposal are confirmed by a simulation study.

Information is the core and soul of intelligent transportation system (ITS). If there were not enough information then ITS aims wouldn't be achieved ideally. The wireless transmission of vehicles information is an important parts in whole ITS communications system. Research platforms for GSM and GPRS network in lab have been established respectively. Then test researches based on above platforms for transmitting remote vehicle information have been processed in paper. The results could offer some references for the selection of transmission network for remote vehicle information communications, analog or digital.

This paper presents a method to achieve adaptability for vehicles by adopting CAN/LIN hybrid network, which can be used to save more costs than ones only adopting CAN bus. The issues arising from the design and implementation of the system are discussed and resolved both in aspects of hardware and software. In the end, the components and layout of a system demo board are illustrated.

The established approach of stereo vision is to first compute the disparity image by establishing correspondences across the input images and then to compute the 3D of every pixel in world coordinate system. However, it meets many difficulties when it is applied in close navigation for autonomous vehicle. This paper proposes a universal binocular stereo vision method based on linear camera model. It could handle image data taken from arbitrarily positioned cameras. Furthermore, the image rectification process that usually is difficult and time-cost is unnecessary in our method. Based on it, we present a fast and robust stereo algorithm that is applicable to close navigation for autonomous vehicle. In our algorithm, height estimation is used to decrease the search range of matching and height image is obtained directly. Experiment results with real image data are presented to illustrate the performance of our algorithm.

Since 70s of last century, Internet technology has been greatly developed, and embedded Internet is a current trend in modern measurement and control systems. An IEEE 1451.2 compliant smart sensor based on embedded Internet technology is designed, prototyped and experimentally tested in the paper. This smart sensor designed has a compliant smart transducer interface module (STIM) and network capable application processor (NCAP) defined in IEEE 1451 standard and has developed in a hardware description language, including the microprocessor. The design has been implemented in a field programmable gate array (FPGA), based on the Nios soft-core Processor. The design provides a reconfigurable and reprogrammable solution to remotely monitor and control the field devices over Internet.

Based on the MC68HC9S12DP256B micro controller, the control system of the integrated starter/generator (ISG) assembles for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) were developed; the hardware and software of system are also designed. Meanwhile, the fuzzy logic control technology of the micro controller and control strategies of ISG system are proposed, and an application of the micro controller to the ISG assemble was introduced. Finally, some experiments have been carried out, the results show that the microprocessor is stable and reliable, and it is successful for the applications of fuzzy logic control function of the microchip and the designed control strategies in the hybrid ISG propulsion system.

In the last four decades, many efforts have been made to improve the factors of safety and comfort in the area of vehicular traffic. In future intelligent transportation systems, one important aspect of automation components is the design of intelligent control systems that enables the system to behave autonomously, thus ensuring safety, comfort and best usage of available infrastructure. In this paper, two separate control strategies are adopted for a longitudinal vehicle model. A third-order linear system models the vehicle and power train dynamics. Based on the theory of optimal control by QR methods, firstly, one strategy for automated vehicle tracking is described comprehensively. A priori choice of the weights in the local quadratic criteria allows obtaining diverse desired overall system characteristics. Simulation results reveal that the strategy under the constraints of physical limitations yields valid results. Uncertainties in the plant parameters, being unavoidable, are then introduced to the extent of worst case deviation, and then the second control strategy based on robust H-infinity control is adopted which though tends the control to lose little on performance but handles uncertainties in the plant variation to the desired extent.

In data fusion approaches, Dempster-Shafer (D-S) evidence theory offers an interesting tool to combine data from multi-sensor. The decision-level fusion based on Dempster-Shafer (D-S) evidence theory can process non-commensurate data and has robust operational performance, reduces ambiguity, increases confidence, and improves system reliability. This paper describes mainly a decision-level data fusion technique for fault diagnosis for electronically controlled spark ignition engines. A D-S evidence theory fault diagnosis model is founded, and the feature selection and extraction of fault signal is conducted. Experiments on a 462 mini engine show that the data fusion technique provides good engine fault diagnosis method.

A blind source separation method based on immune algorithm (IA) is proposed. The first step performs initialization of mixed signals, which estimates the dimension of signals and abstracts principal component information by eigenvalue decomposition. The second step performs separation of sources, where a separate matrix is estimated. The separate matrix is updated by IA and high order statistics (high order cumulates), where contrast function is based on the transformation of four-order mutual cumulates. The effectiveness of proposed method for blind source separation is demonstrated by simulation.
