This study mainly emphasised on compare the seismic behaviour of high-rise steel building with different types of bracing systems. Non-linear static analysis were performed to observe the structural performance on high rise steel building of heights 10,15,20,25,30 and 35 storeys. For this study, four types bracing systems were used: V-Braced frames (VBF), Chevron Braced frames (CBF), X-Braced frames and Self-centring energy dissipating braced frames (SCEDBF). The performance of different types of bracing system has been evaluated by changing the parameters like height of building and different types of lateral load pattern. It has been observed that different braced frames performed well in terms of storey displacement, inter-storey drift ratio, base shear capacity and performance point when compared with moment resisting frame in high-rise steel buildings. It has been observed that VBF and CBF performed similar manner under seismic event and XBF and SCEDBF performed similar manner. It can be concluded that, based on obtained results, that the use of VBF, CBF, XBF and SCEDBF enhances the seismic performance of overall structure.

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is an essential technology in many Internet of Things (IoT) applications, and since sensor nodes suffer from limited resources, it has become possible to overcome storage capacity problems using cloud computing, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) with cloud computing (CC) seeks to achieve new levels of efficiency in service delivery. Security and privacy are key factors that slow down the rapid and widespread adoption and deployment of both IoT and cloud computing. In the proposed model, an integrated IoT system with cloud computing was developed starting from the analysis, and design, to the implementation to connect IoT devices with the cloud, the security is achieved by using a hybrid encryption mechanism which provides the performance advantages of symmetric and asymmetric encryption algorithms. Where the Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) algorithm is used for key generation and AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm is used for encryption and decryption of the sensors' data to provide a reliable computing environment. Globalization and urbanization have been identified as having inherent capacity for the disarticulation and dislocation of a nation’s socio-economic structure. This paper identified the socio-economic forces responsible for slum development in the core of Ado-Ekiti. The core area was delineated using the acquired google image which was processed using ArcView GIS software; Twelve Data Delineation Areas (DDAs) were identified, having: 2,930 buildings and 14,650 households. A 2.5% of households (368) was adopted as sample size. The landlord or the most senior household head was interviewed using a structured socio-economic questionnaire. The photograph of scenes of interest were taken to supplement information from the questionnaire. The DDAs formed the basis for questionnaire administration. Empirical analysis shows that there is poverty in the study area due to underemployment and low income. Government intervention through a holistic urban renewal and creation of enabling environment for job opportunities were proffered for a sustainable city core development in Nigeria and cities of developing nations of the world with similar characteristics.

The current state of the art in aircraft design has shown that in order to be economically viable and competitive it is necessary to investigate technology, which may give an improvement in performance and operational flexibility goal, but must be shown to be cost-effective. The current competitive environment forces the potential customers to buy advanced technology aircraft and requires manufacturers to provide more operational flexibility, without drastic performance penalties. This is a challenging task, which might be solved by the use of new technologies. It is believed that the application of an advanced high-lift capability, high cruise Mach number and lower moment turbulent airfoils derived from MS (1)-0317 and MS (1)-0313 to a wing would assist in achieving such a task. This paper describes an investigation aimed to examine the suitability of an aerodynamic wing design, allowing for the use of an advanced turbulent wing section concept for advanced medium-speed Very Light Jet (VLJ) aircraft. The paper describes the phenomenon of configuration design and outlines the wing design process. Description is then given of the aerodynamic design of a wing incorporated with an advanced turbulent wing section technology, tail design and aircraft performances. It concludes with a discussion of the results and recommendations for future work.

Vertical gardens (VG) has proved to have numerous environmental, economic, and social benefits. However, implementing VG is not common in a highly developed city like Chennai due to various reasons. This study aims to examine public perspectives on VG and the challenges preventing their broad adoption in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This research uses a sociotechnical strategy to encourage the adoption of VG. Design/methodology/approach: A survey approach was used for the investigation. An online questionnaire was given access to the public of Greater Chennai Corporation to come out with a quantitative understanding of the perception of VG. There were four 4 parts with 11 close- ended multiple choice questions. Part 1 included socio-demographic factors, while part 2 collected information on awareness of VG and the desire to adopt it in Chennai. Part 3 examined the understanding of the environmental, economic, and aesthetic benefits of the VG. Part 4 focused on the barriers to the usage of VG in Chennai. Findings: the survey report analysis makes it clear that the following are the barriers to its widespread adoption in Chennai, the VG is still at a conceptual stage in the mind of the public due to a lack of clear understanding of its maintenance, irrigation, and the thought that vertical greening would cause structural damages. The purpose of vertical greening is prioritized for its aesthetic benefits rather than its environmental and social benefits. The maintenance and irrigation issues are also among the reasons discussed in this paper.

It is now a common phenomenon in building services that some builders/clients call for the services of the electrical contractor/technicians to carry out an electrical installation without the provision or availability of standard electrical services drawings, at times due to the negligence of the builder/client about the importance of electrical services drawings or in other to reduce cost, which is detrimental and hazardous to the building, pieces of equipment installed or the occupants in the future. This paper analyses the relevance of electrical services engineers in construction and building services. A well-structured online survey was adopted and shared with different engineering platforms where building and construction professionals are to know the practice at various building and construction sites, and a total of 230 responses were collected, the data collected were examined using the descriptive statistics method with good pictorial representation. The result of the survey shows that 20% of the respondents complained about the absence of electrical services drawings, 38% complained that the electrical services drawings provided are not practicable, and 42% of the respondents talked about the availability of relevant electrical services drawings. The analysis from this study confirms that several electrical installations were carried out without the provision of practicable electrical services drawings, especially in domestic installations. It is recommended that the services of qualified electrical services engineers should be employed for standard electrical services drawings, which will give detailed information about the method of wiring, the suitable size/type of distribution, and the protection scheme for lighting and power installations in conformity with the appropriate standard and regulations for effective and well-balanced electrical services.

This paper describes the implementation of general multibody system dynamics on sun tracker mechanism. In this study, a dual axes solar tracking mechanism designed within the scope of a project to obtain an efficient electrical energy from solar rays is examined. Dynamic and kinematic calculations of the moving and joint places in the mechanism were made. This study is important as the use of an efficient solar tracker is very useful in military, industrial and residential areas. Free Body Diagrams of all the elements or limbs that make up the sun tracker mechanism have been drawn. Thus, dynamic and kinematic values at elements points were calculated. The proposed dynamics model of the mechanism offers an accurate and fast method to analyze the dynamics of the mechanism knowing that there is no suchwork available for sun tracker. Also, 3D tracker elements were drawn and planned in Solid Work program. The simulation gives a clear idea about energy parameters for different link lengths of the mechanism over a linear displacement.

The proposed dynamics model of the mechanism offers an accurate and fast method to analyze the dynamics of the mechanism knowing that there is no suchwork available for sun tracker. Also, 3D tracker elements were drawn and planned in Solid Work program. The simulation gives a clear idea about energy parameters for different link lengths of the mechanism over a linear displacement.","PeriodicalId":443735,"journal":{"name":"DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE","volume":"357 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133069628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
