This article discusses the considerations which led to the establishment of Scriptura in 1980. Against the backdrop of a looming social and political transformation, the intellectual, political and ecclesial climate was restrictive in many ways and on various levels. The strict adherence to disciplinary boundaries in academe, the dominant political ideology of oppression and exclusion, and the inertia caused by hierarchical systems of ecclesial control all contributed to the need to find spaces where alternative approaches could be explored and tested. In the process, fortunate co-incidences or instances of serendipity played an important role. The intention of this article is neither to provide a historical account of these developments nor an overview of the contents of the journal, but rather to explore the forces which influenced the course of events, often behind the scenes and on a meta-level. After the first decade, the journal was established enough to pursue more conventional objectives.

In the light of the present vigorous and mostly one-sided debate concerning the unity of believers, this study endeavours to accomplish a justified and demythologized perspective of this issue. On the basis of this research then, the question of Johannine perspective on unity, as well as the feasibility thereof in the South African (ecclesiastical) context is addressed.

In the midst of the times and technological growth, the function of mass media began to be carried out by social media. This is influenced by the rapid development of various types of social media and its features. Most social media users are millennials. One of the millennial generation members and active users of social media are students, including Petra Christian University students. This study is using survey method, aims to determine using of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn by 225 Petra Christian University students. From this study is known, the majority of students use Instagram. They used Instagram to get information, find entertainment, add networking, and increase knowledge
