In the Province of Batangas, Municipality of San Juan, Batangas is regarded to be vulnerable to disaster. It has coastal, upland and populated lowland geographical areas. In the fortuitous event of catastrophe, women are deemed the frailest among the marginalized sectors. While the Magna Carta of Women gives women the right to protection and security in terms of disasters, specialized needs of women may be overlooked, gender-blind and insensitive to the development actions. This study assesses the participation of women to disaster preparedness and response in the Municipality of San Juan. Research surveys states that in the event of fire, traumatic experiences of people affected therein got the highest weighted mean of 3.3640. In terms of flood, the highest weighted mean is 3.4740, where flood is caused by the large amounts of rainwater, which cannot be absorbed in to the ground, drainages and canals. Relative to typhoon, the highest weighted mean is 3.4260, an intense circulation of the weather system causes typhoon over tropical seas and oceans accompanied with very strong winds, heavy rains and large ocean waves. About landslide, it is triggered by other natural hazards such as prolonged, heavy rainfall, and typhoon or by other sources of water, which increases the water content of the slope materials and got the highest weighted mean of 3.4200. Regarding earthquake, the highest weighted mean is 3.370, where earthquake is caused by sudden slippage of rock masses below or at the surface of the earth. In terms of participation in disaster preparedness and response, the lowest weighted mean is 2.3380, it is where women slightly or sometimes participate in forming and mobilizing women’s group in the local government units during disaster to protect and meet the necessary needs of women. Based on findings, the extent of participation in disaster preparedness and response practices in the Municipality of San Juan, Batangas is significant and highly important on the assessment of the respondents regarding disasters and their empowerment is necessary in developing a disaster resilient community. Thus, this study serves as basis for the determination in policy-decision making process necessary to address and integrate the specialized needs of women in the Municipality of San Juan, Batangas relative to participation to disaster preparedness and response.

The challenge of every small enterprise owner is to sustain and prolong the business operation. It is fundamental for every business to have proper accounting practices to facilitate efficient economic decisions. This study assessed the level of organizational performance of small enterprises in terms of organizational goal achievement, organizational effectiveness, and organizational efficiency records. It also measured the level of accounting practices in record keeping, budgeting practices, and payroll accounting. The correlation between the two variables were also determined because the researchers believe that this would help elevate the business as well as the country’s economy. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was employed in the statistical analysis of data and Pearson moment of correlation (Pearson-r). A total of 60 respondents participated in the survey. Based on results, small enterprise owners or the bookkeepers practiced to highly practiced accounting practices with good to excellent organizational performance when grouped to years of operation and nature of the business. It also indicated that there is a strong positive relationship between accounting practices and organizational performance. Specifically, recordkeeping, and payroll accounting resulted in a very strong relationship to organizational efficiency records with computed r-values of .802 and .775, respectively. The researchers proposed an extension activity for small enterprise owners in Batangas City improve their accounting practices and organizational performance.

It is difficult to rank fuzzy numbers because of their ambiguous values. A few numbers of ranking techniques have been encountered in last few decades. However, existing techniques are situation-dependent which have drawbacks. In this paper we introduced a statistical technique to rank two types of fuzzy numbers, triangular and trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. This technique is the multi-dimensional scaling, more precisely the principal component analysis. Here, we presented each fuzzy numbers as a row in a matrix, then found the scale points in a low dimensions. The scale points are then reconfigured to have a unique representation. The results from this approach are obtained by comparison to the other ranking methods. The validity has been established by comparison with existing works.

ABSTRACT The dealers are responsible for connecting customers to manufacturers in the automotive industry. An effective relationship between the dealers and the manufacturers can lead to customer satisfaction and loyalty. This research provides an approach to evaluate factors affecting the dealers-manufacturer relationship and develop a solution for predicting how manufacturers can continue or terminate the cooperation with their dealers in the after-sales service network, which is less discussed in the literature. We used predictive analytics tools and classification methods to predict dealers’ cooperation as a dependent variable in two classes based on a 2-year real-life collected data. Our results revealed that dealer performance violations, changing dealer principles, and the services revenue have the most effect on the cooperation of dealers in the automotive after-sales service network. Also, this research proposed a dealer management solution for manufacturers to show them the correct decisions for the dealers’ cooperation at the right time. This solution can be used in real-life cases in after-sales service networks to prevent using redundant resources, improve the weak performance of dealers, avoid unnecessary termination of cooperation, avoid the costs of attracting new dealers, and decrease customer dissatisfaction.

ABSTRACT Industry 4.0 paradigm has enabled manufacturing systems with reformations for Cloud-based manufacturing business models. This reformation can create resilient structures as an inevitable opportunity for manufacturing supply networks. This is achieved by using service composition capabilities in Cloud manufacturing network which significantly enhances supply network performance when encountering disruptions. Focusing on redundancy as one of the most effective approaches to resiliency, a new model for manufacturing service composition is proposed. The model considers a minimum level of subentropy when responding to the demands at the process level while controlling the entropy overall at supply network level. This creates a balanced policy for entropy at the network level, and subentropies at the process level to both fulfill an optimal redundancy for disruption fulfillment and controling the complexity throughout the network. A case study is considered for manufacturing ventilator production COVID-19 pandemic. The capabilities of the proposed model for optimal application of unused firm capacities from other supply networks like military and university research groups have been discussed. The proposed model is also investigated for fulfillment of disruptions like COVID-19 equipment supply network with mentioned capabilities. These capabilities fulfill the transition of manufacturing business models to a service-oriented paradigm with resilient structures.

No one can escape from stress and it affects individuals across all age categories, sex, conditions, and may leads to many physiological as well as psychological issues. Death of the soul mate or life partner is a bad and stressful time for widows and widowers as they enter into a new phase of life and a challenging society. Stressful events are differently deal by Widows and widowers. Few of them being pressured and stressed about finding and getting a suitable work and job or a suitable remarriage if possible. Gender, age, culture, sex are the key factors of stress. The present research study was done to examine the Gender differences in perceiving stress among various types of environmental conditions and situations during the widowhood or widower hood. It was hypothesized that there would be no significant differences in gender regarding stress and widows would be higher on their stress level as compare to widowers. The sample consisted of 100 widows and 100 widowers of above 18 years from different areas of Haryana. Data collection was done by convenient sampling technique. Perceived Stress Scale by Cohen was used in the present study in order to assess the level of stress. Results revealed that widows perceived more stress as compare to widowers. Thus, widows perceived stress is more or high than widowers. Widows were suggested to get counseling by psychologist.

This paper seeks to discuss what makes a sustainable career for a woman in India, how social structures can limit sustainable careers and how the process of socialisation and internalization of social role expectations impact career sustainability. It seeks to highlight ways in which women could have sustainable careers, also called professional growth. This study is based on secondary sources of data collated from a host of research papers and literature published on the subject.India’s statistics on gender equity reflect stark biases. The country’s female labour force participation (LFPR) rate is less than half the world average; Indian women earn only about 65% of what their male counterparts earn (compared to 77% world average). Only a minute fraction of listed companies has women leaders. What creates this skew? What factors influence how careers are shaped and sustained? Using data and findings from diverse sources, including seven India-specific papers, we explore the concept of career sustainability as it relates to Indian women. We examine the effect of social structures such as the primary family unit and the organisation as a gendered construct. We argue that these and other social structures, coupled with women’s internalization of their social role expectations are factors that directly impact the sustainability of women’s careers. Finally, we identify initiatives that can build positive social identities and can mitigate the gendered nature of organizations and society at large.
