Objectives: Conflict and displacement are associated with poverty, disruption of services, loss of identity, reduced care for reproductive needs, and reduced provision of health care, among other things. This article uses the framework outlined by Obermeyer and Potter to test how refugee and native status influence utilization of reproductive health services and experience with domestic violence in a context of high refugee inhabitants and strong refugee-focused non-governmental organization presence. This article addresses the following: (1) coverage, source, and method of contraceptives; (2) variation in reproductive health experience by source of contraception; and finally, (3) factors determining variation in the utilization of reproductive health services and domestic violence experiences for individuals living in and out of refugee camps.

Methods: The data is the 2012 Jordan Demographic and Health Survey, and the method utilized is logistic regression.

Results: Findings suggest that refugee women serviced by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency have greater access to health-related resources (family planning and contraception), but they have weaker positions in the family as evidenced by domestic violence experiences.

Conclusion: It is plausible that provisional resources are the easiest for an aid organization to provide, while the complications of identity loss and the loss of a sense of space pose a challenge for refugees and aid organizations.

Laparoscopic approach was performed. A cornual resection was performed from the implantation base with meticulous hemostasia with monopolar electrosurgical energy (Hook). This caused minimal hemorrhage, without intraoperative complications. Subsequently, security coagulation in the surgical wound was performed with bipolar energy. The patient evolved favorably, being discharged at 12 hours after the procedures, without additional treatment requirements (Figure 2 & 3). Objective: To study depression and anxiety in pregnant adolescents. Methods: This research is a cross-sectional study in which the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) was used to evaluate the level of anxiety and depression among patients. The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), which aims to measure the presence and severity of depression among patients, was also applied. For purposes of analysis, the participants were divided into two groups: precocious adolescents (12 to 15 years of age) and late adolescents (16 to 19 years of age). The difference between the means observed between the groups was analyzed using Student’s t test. A value of p < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: The mean BDI score among the 26 precocious adolescents was 24.0, whereas among the 61 late adolescents, the same score presented a mean of 15.7 (p=0.005). In relation to depression, according to the HADS, the precocious pregnant adolescents obtained an average of 8.8 (possible depression), whereas the late pregnant adolescents presented an average of 6.9 (unlikely depression) (p=0.005). Conclusion: Depression was more intense among precocious adolescents than among late adolescents. There was no significant difference in the intensity of anxiety, assessed by the HADS, between precocious and late adolescents.

Sickle cell disease is a genotypic condition characterized by the presence of a hemoglobin S which results biologically and clinically suckling red blood cells and hemolytic anemia.1,2 The occurrence of pregnancy in this fragile situation can trigger fearsome maternal and fetal complications even when appropriate preventive measures are used. Management must be multidisciplinary, involving obstetrician, hematologist and pediatrician assisted by different specialists depending on the evolution. Progress in these areas has allowed women to reach reproductive age and even pregnancy with the risk of complications for them and their fetus. For this, early detection of the disease is essential to plan the best time to be pregnant. In view of this context of pregnancy, which deserves great attention, we have decided to conduct a study on the association of major sickle cell disease and pregnancy at the Pikine National Hospital Center. The main objective is to study the management and prognosis of this particularly morbid pathology when it is associated with pregnancy, in the quest to propose a protocol for its management. Patients and methods
