This paper proposes a theoretical model to explore the multi-agent interaction. Our theory emphasizes the complex in the process of knowledge coupling, nonlinear, dynamic effects, including entrepreneurial enterprises, associated enterprises, and users of digital economy innovation drive the development of important subject, as well as over time, multi-agent interaction leads to the constant change of knowledge coupling mode, and finally discusses the influence of these changes for entrepreneurial enterprises. The idea of complex system reveals the influence of an interaction of different agents on knowledge coupling with the life cycle of enterprises, and how different knowledge coupling modes promote the growth of entrepreneurial enterprises. Finally, we discuss the implications of the idea of complex systems on Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurship theory and research.

This study aims to investigate the contribution of digital financial technology in fostering financial inclusion and comprehensively explore digital financial inclusion for Madhya Pradesh, Central India, using data from a field survey. In doing so, we identify the determinants of digital financial inclusion and the challenges faced by individuals during the use of numbers (a person may use one, two, or more digital financial inclusion instruments) of digital financial modes by employing the logistic and Poisson regression models. Our findings highlight that adoption of digital financial technology varies across individuals based on their demographic, social, and economic status: age, caste, gender, education, income, and occupation. In addition, findings from regression results reveal a positive and significant association between educational attainment and digital financial inclusivity, while age shows a non-linear and inverted U-shaped relationship with digital financial inclusion, which means that people with younger and higher education levels are likely to adopt more digital transaction modes than their counterparts, while females tend to utilize fewer such modes of financial transaction. Additionally, our study reveals that individuals with diverse demographic and socioeconomic backgrounds encounter various challenges in adopting major digital transaction modes, including Aadhaar number-, credit/debit card-, wallet-to-wallet-, and SMS-based methods. These insights contribute significantly to the existing literature on digital financial inclusion, providing policymakers and practitioners with valuable guidance to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of digital financial services, particularly among economically and socially vulnerable segments of society.

As China’s economy transitions from a phase of high-speed growth to one of high-quality development, the study of high-quality economic development has become increasingly important. Assessing and analyzing the current level of high-quality economic development can provide guiding recommendations for future economic transformation and high-quality growth. This research constructs an evaluation index system for high-quality economic development based on panel data from Henan Province spanning from 2006 to 2021. The entropy weight method combined with the TOPSIS model is utilized to determine the weights of each indicator and to assess the level of high-quality economic development in Henan Province; a coupling coordination model is employed to analyze the degree of coupling and coordination among its subsystems; and a barrier degree model is applied to identify the main obstacles to high-quality economic development in Henan Province. The study finds that (1) the proportion of technology market turnover has the most significant impact on high-quality economic development, while the revenue sharing level has the least. (2) During the research period, both the level of high-quality economic development in Henan Province and the subsystems of economic structure, innovation drive, regional coordination, and social welfare have shown an upward trend. (3) The coupling coordination degree of the subsystems increases at a rate of approximately 9% per year. (4) The obstacle degree of the economic stability, regional coordination, and infrastructure subsystems is on the rise, while that of the economic structure, opening up level, and social welfare subsystems is decreasing. (5) The inhibitory effects of the urban–rural income coordination level, the coordination level of urban and rural consumption, the community service level, the global unemployment rate, and the global trade level have intensified since 2017. Based on the aforementioned research findings, this paper proposes a series of policy recommendations. The translation ensures logical coherence and enhances the overall quality and readability of the content.

South Asia faces a tremendous challenge in ensuring food security for its growing population. Poverty, climate change, and resource limitations threaten food production and access. Information and communication technology (ICT) provides a variety of techniques to increase food security. This research examines ICT’s effect on food security by regulating CO2 emissions, energy use, and economic growth in South Asian (SA) nations. It takes panel data from 1997 to 2021 and applies the 2nd generation unit root and Westerlund cointegration tests. For this reason, it is necessary to use 2nd generation Westerlund cointegration tests and the “Dumitrescu-Hurlin (D-H) causality test” to ensure the validity of the “Second-generation estimation technique(s) the Driscoll and Kraay method.” The outcomes of the bootstrap cointegration test support the existence of long-run cointegration. The Driscoll and Kraay results show a symmetric relationship between ICT and food security, linked to higher CO2 emissions, whereas economic growth and renewable energy consumption increase the latter. As a result of the significant positive stimulus it has on food security, developing ICT is vital to raising food security in South Asian countries. The results from the Driscoll and Kraay estimates are consistent with those from the GLS, proving the Driscoll and Kraay results are reliable. The D-H causality also confirms the GLS and Driscoll and Kraay results. To enhance environmental quality and food security, governments can fund green ICT R&D. Policymakers consider financial incentives such as tax breaks, grants, and subsidies to incentivize ICT companies to adopt sustainable practices and technology.

“Deleveraging” is a key starting point for preventing and resolving major risks, especially financial risks. This paper studies the impact of common institutional ownership on corporate deleveraging behavior from the perspective of leverage manipulation. The study shows that common institutional ownership can significantly inhibit corporate leverage manipulation and that managerial myopia and internal control quality play negative and positive moderating roles in the above relationship, and its mechanism is mainly to alleviate the degree of financing constraints, reduce the degree of information asymmetry, and then play the governance efficacy of common institutional ownership. It is further found that the governance effect of common ownership is more significant in the sample of firms after the implementation of the “deleveraging” policy, in the sample of non-state-owned firms, in the sample of firms without directors’ liability insurance, and in the sample of firms with weaker managerial competence. The economic consequence test shows that common institutional ownership improves investment efficiency and reduces risk-taking by constraining leverage manipulation. This paper explores the impact of this emerging form of ownership on corporate governance and corporate leverage manipulation from the perspective of institutional common ownership, which is of great practical value in promoting the sound development of the capital market.

Nudges are approaches that direct individuals to perform particular courses of action to meet a pre-determined goal, without coercion. Previous literature has explored the design of nudge and its impact on users’ behavior in several domains and contexts. Still, scarce and fragmented knowledge about the design approaches, ethical considerations, and theoretical grounds have been presented by previous literature. Hence, this study aims to investigate the literature through bibliometric analysis and a narrative review of the nudging techniques and their impact on social behavior with an emphasis on the application domains, nudge designs, ethical considerations, and theoretical grounds. Focusing on nudge design and impact, we scan the landscape of the research in the area through bibliometric analysis and narrative review approaches. We searched for papers that included keywords related to nudges from the Scopus database and analyzed them using a bibliometric-based approach. Several diagrams that visualize the terms of the studies, sources, citations, and thematic trends were presented. The research provides several insights for researchers in terms of the design of the nudge, the theoretical grounds, ethical considerations, and the application domains of nudging.

Sub-Saharan Africa is facing a problem of underemployment of human capital. Its underemployment rate is over 21% and exceeds 40% in some countries. This article analyzes the role of underemployment in the relationship between human capital and economic growth in 30 Sub-Saharan Africa countries, from 2008 to 2019. We use the double least squares method, the triple least squares method, and the seemingly unrelated regression equation method applied on panel data. The results indicate that the positive effect of human capital on economic growth diminishes as the level of underemployment increases. Nevertheless, innovation moderates the link between underemployment and economic growth. The findings also reveal that economic growth in Sub-Saharan Africa countries depends significantly on their political and economic institutions. Indeed, better governance and timely investments in health (maternal and child health, immunization and nutrition) and education (free school meals, school fee exemptions) would enable Sub-Saharan Africa countries to enhance human development, which is a source of long-term economic growth. Reducing youth underemployment must be the biggest challenge in Sub-Saharan Africa countries. Sub-Saharan Africa countries’ educational systems should ensure basic skills or the specific ones that match the demands of the labor market.

Contract farming is considered the most effective income-generating strategy for smallholder farmers and a significant source of foreign currency in Ethiopia. Avocado farmers in the study area made a contract agreement with the Savando avocado oil processing company, which is part of the Yirgalem agro-processing industry. The main aim of this research was to look at the factors influencing avocado producers’ decision to participate in contract farming and how it would affect their income, using data collected from 413 avocado producers in Dale district, Sidama region, Ethiopia. The cross-sectional research design and multi-stage sampling procedure were used to choose the study’s representative sample. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and propensity score matching model. The findings of this study indicated that the age of the household head, sex of the household head, education level of the household head, family size, and proportion of the farmland allocated for avocado production influenced the avocado producers’ participation in contract farming under the agro-processing industry. Average treatment effect on treated (ATT) estimation showed that participation in contract framing had a substantial impact on avocado producer households’ income. The study suggests that local government should offer adult education to improve smallholders’ knowledge and attitudes towards the benefits of participation in contract farming schemes in the study area. Moreover, the district office of agriculture needs to work with farmers to allocate more land for avocado production.

Avocado farmers in the study area made a contract agreement with the Savando avocado oil processing company, which is part of the Yirgalem agro-processing industry. The main aim of this research was to look at the factors influencing avocado producers’ decision to participate in contract farming and how it would affect their income, using data collected from 413 avocado producers in Dale district, Sidama region, Ethiopia. The cross-sectional research design and multi-stage sampling procedure were used to choose the study’s representative sample. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and propensity score matching model. The findings of this study indicated that the age of the household head, sex of the household head, education level of the household head, family size, and proportion of the farmland allocated for avocado production influenced the avocado producers’ participation in contract farming under the agro-processing industry. Average treatment effect on treated (ATT) estimation showed that participation in contract framing had a substantial impact on avocado producer households’ income. The study suggests that local government should offer adult education to improve smallholders’ knowledge and attitudes towards the benefits of participation in contract farming schemes in the study area. Moreover, the district office of agriculture needs to work with farmers to allocate more land for avocado production.</p>","PeriodicalId":47435,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Knowledge Economy","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2024-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142179704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"经济学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the rapidly evolving landscape of the global economy, the advent of the digital era (DE) has ushered in unprecedented transformations, reshaping traditional business paradigms and challenging established governance models. One of the most revolutionary facets of this digital revolution is the integration of neural networks (NN), which have become effective instruments for deciphering complex patterns and optimizing decision-making processes (DMP). This quantitative study investigates the influence mechanism of the digital economy (IMDE), specifically the integration of NNs, on the corporate governance (CG) model. Employing a questionnaire survey, data was collected from 347 professionals to explore the impact of NN technologies on DMP, Digitalization Levels, Digital Capabilities, transparency, accountability, trust, and the role of regulatory frameworks in CG. The study establishes a significant enhancement in DMP by integrating NN technologies into CG models. The research reveals a favorable correlation between a business’s level of digitalization and its adoption of NN-based CG models. The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive exploration of the multifaceted impact of NN technologies on CG in the digital economy (DE). By examining the technological aspects, Digitalization Levels, capabilities, and regulatory landscape, the study comprehensively comprehends the dynamic interplay involving the DE and CG. The findings offer valuable insights for businesses, policymakers, and researchers seeking to navigate the evolving landscape of digital technologies in CG. The study highlights that sectors driven by NN technology experience a more significant impact in the DE than traditional industries.
