Factors Influencing the Design of Labor Rooms 影响劳动室设计的因素

To examine the environmental aspects in labor and delivery rooms (LDRs) in Saudi Arabia according to mothers’ points of view, especially with the recent increased numbers of C-section deliveries. The study is based on a survey questionnaire, open-ended questions analysis and comparison between the findings in two samples. Mothers who experienced labor and delivery in Saudi hospitals during the last 5 years participated in the study. The questionnaire was distributed via email and text messages to participating mothers, and 236 questionnaires were completed by participants. Based on analysis of the qualitative data, several factors were highlighted including Psychological aspects (39.74%), Caregiver attitude (15.89%), Space Layout and Furniture arrangement (12.58%). Importantly, from the quantitative analysis, the study finds that during COVID-19, compared to Pre-COVID-19 period there was an increase in mothers’ perceptions of the importance of the labor environment. The needs of mothers in Saudi were similar to those in the UK sample, except for these aspects that were important to Saudi women but not to those in the UK: spiritual support, psychological support, and policies. Therefore, designing labor and delivery settings should consider these cultural differences.

Rethinking the Role of the Principal in the Strategic Management of Human Capital in Public Secondary Schools in Zimbabwe 重新思考校长在津巴布韦公立中学人力资本战略管理中的作用

Effective leadership and management are at the centre of the strategic management of human capital in education. Principals in schools as organizations promote the effective execution of strategies by coordinating staff members toward accomplishing school goals and objectives to improve student outcomes. Principals are critical in implementing strategic plans and providing a conducive setting for teaching and learning that allows human capital to grow and perform better. Principals must be strategic and forward-thinking by aligning school systems, culture, and processes to achieve all goals. Principals in public secondary schools in Zimbabwe face challenges in strategically managing human capital. Evidence mainly points to the teachers’ low motivation levels and lack of training and coherence in support mechanisms that would enable principals to strategically manage human capital in Zimbabwean schools. Thus, this necessitates the need to rethink the role of the principal. The study aimed to explore ways to rethink and redefine the principal’s role in Zimbabwean schools where education is in crisis. Following an interpretivist paradigm, a qualitative approach using a case study design was employed to gather data. The study found a need for policy change to strengthen the principal’s management and instructional leadership role when managing human capital effectively in schools. Such a bold move would pave the way for an upgrade in principals’ leadership and management capacities so they can effectively manage teacher performance and thereby improve academic performance.

Mind the Gap: How Teachers’ Professional Development Preferences Relate to Scientific Recommendations 注意差距:教师的专业发展偏好与科学建议之间的关系

There is extensive empirical research on principles of effective teacher professional development (PD). However, teachers’ expectations of PD and how well these align with scientific recommendations are only rarely addressed. N = 125 teachers were presented with video vignettes on two evidence-based interventions of varying complexity for which they indicated their own PD preferences. Teachers’ preferences were then compared to scientific recommendations for effective PD. In line with scientific recommendations, teachers generally preferred coherent PD with a clear content focus and collective participation. However, there were large differences between individual teachers’ preferences as well as between PD features. A striking discrepancy between research and practice was found for PD duration: Most teachers preferred one-shot workshops (six contact hours at most). Surprisingly, teachers barely differed in their PD preferences for interventions of varying complexity, indicating that teachers have clearly defined notions of PD. Regression analyses on individual and contextual factors did not yield systematic results to explain teachers’ PD preferences. In sum, teachers’ desired short duration, their lacking awareness of adjusting PD for interventions of varying complexity, and individually significant deviations from scientific recommendations for PD make it necessary to clearly communicate evidence-based standards to teachers—and policymakers.

Destination Promotion Videos and Tourism Knowledge: A Road Toward Residents’ Empowerment in Emerging Tourism Destinations 目的地宣传视频和旅游知识:新兴旅游目的地居民赋权之路

There is a major outcry among Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) in emerging tourism destinations regarding the low participation or engagement of key stakeholders, mainly local residents, in sustainable tourism. Although several initiatives have been taken by DMOs to ensure that local residents participate in inclusive tourism development, major progress has not been achieved so far. Past studies indicate that even though local residents are engaged and involved in tourism development, they have not been able to fully exercise power and control over tourism, hence they participate as passive beneficiaries rather than active beneficiaries. Thus, this study is an attempt to investigate the role of destination promotion videos and tourism knowledge as drivers of residents’ empowerment in emerging tourism destinations. The study used convenience sampling to determine a sample of 417 local residents in the Dodoma region, from whom data were collected. The data analysis, using structural equation modeling, suggests that tourism knowledge is an important driver of residents’ empowerment among local residents. Additionally, tourism knowledge can be cultivated through the use of destination promotion videos as important sources of information about tourism destinations. This study recommends that DMOs should utilize various public awareness campaigns, such as short destination videos, to empower individuals with knowledge. This knowledge could instill confidence and encourage their participation in inclusive tourism development.

Leader Member Exchange as a Mediator of the Relationship Between Schools’ Openness to Change and Political Skills of School Principals 领导成员交流是学校变革开放度与校长政治技能之间关系的调解因素

In today’s competitive and complex environment, school leaders require social influencing skills to mobilize schools to enable them to adapt to change. The schools’ openness to change (SOC) is affected by the direction and strength of relationships between teachers and principals in the school. In particular, the political skills of school principals can play a prominent role in mobilizing employees for change. This research investigates the impact of school principals’ political skills on schools’ openness to change, with a focus on the mediating role of leader member exchange (LMX) quality. The sample group was obtained by simple random sampling from 613 state teachers working in the Kocaeli province in Turkey in the 2019 to 2020 academic year. This study is based on quantitative data collected through the “Leader-Member Exchange Scale,”“Schools’ Openness to Change Scale,” and “Political Skill Inventory.” The measurement models of the latent variables (political skill, LMX, and SOC) were confirmed via running Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Afterward, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to test the structural model. The results reveal that the political skills of school principals significantly predict the SOC and the LMX. Political skills of school principals affect schools’ openness to change positively, and leader-member exchange positively effects the relationship between political skills and openness to change. It’s recommended that activities supporting the quality of leader member interactions in schools be carried out.

Data Envelopment Analysis and Higher Education: A Systematic Review of the 2018–2022 Literature and Bibliometric Analysis of the Past 30 Years of Literature 数据包络分析与高等教育:2018-2022年文献的系统回顾和过去30年文献的文献计量分析

The interest in Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has grown since its first put forward in 1978. In response to the overwhelming interest, systematic literature reviews, as well as bibliometric studies, have been performed in describing the state-of-the-art and offering quantitative outlines with regard to the high-impact papers on global applications of DEA and the higher education system (DEA-HE). This study examines 75 systematic literature review (SLR) studies published between 2018 and 2022 and 508 bibliometric studies published between 1992and 2022. Four performance-focused areas are identified through SLR analysis: institutional performance, departmental performance, performance of study program, and performance of other higher education (HE) activities. This study highlights issues, methods, and resolutions in selected SLR literature. Bibliometric analysis revealed an increasing trend in DEA-HE since 2003, with the highest number of publications in 2021. Tommaso Agasisti was the most productive author, and Jill Johnes was the most influential. The journal Scientometric had the most publications in the area. This study lays the groundwork for future research. Future reviewers may find the common practises, constraints, and underlying assumptions presented in this study useful for the selection and analysis of relevant studies.

In modern society, children actively engage with social media platforms, and Ghana is not an exception to this trend. People have, however, placed an excessive amount of focus on the negative implications of using social media, which has overshadowed the positive effects that it has on children. This study examines the use of social media by children, including their preferred platforms, as well as the positive and negative consequences associated with their usage. This was a cross-sectional study that employed convenient and snowball sampling procedures for data collection and analysis. The study was conducted on 400 children aged 8 to 17 in Tema. The Uses and Gratifications Theory (UGT) is the study’s underlying theory. The association between demographic characteristics and correlates of social media usage was examined using bivariate analysis, whereas the qualitative data analysis was guided by thematic analysis. The results show that 87.5% of children have ever used social media, with males being more likely than females to have done so (91.7% vs. 83.5%). The main reason social media platforms are used by children (87%) is for entertainment. TikTok has the highest usage percentage, making up 88.7% of all platforms, according to the findings. Some benefits of social media include communication, entertainment, and resources for creativity, research, and academic work. Also, the detrimental consequences of social media usage comprise exposure to sexually explicit material, addiction in children, and diminished academic achievement in children who become too engrossed in its usage. The study demonstrated that social media is widely used among children in Ghana. TikTok is the most popular social media platform among children, and it is their preferred platform. Parents are urged to encourage their children to use social media platforms for beneficial purposes, and media industry stakeholders should develop and implement initiatives to increase the benefits of social media for children. Regulation and supervision are necessary to mitigate the adverse consequences of children’s social media usage.

In this paper, the weak points have been investigated, the proposal to solve them, the application of the solution and the comparison of the results in the mode of simulation and experimental testing have been discussed. For this purpose, a four-wheel mobile robot has been considered for simulation and implementation, and a linear quadratic regulator controller and a nonlinear model predictive controller have been used to control it. But the combination of these classic and modern controllers with machine learning can greatly help to make these controllers work more accurately; As a result, in order to increase the accuracy of the performance of these controllers, by training neural networks of multilayer perceptrons, the controllers have been made intelligent. Controllers with cost function have coefficients as weighting to the matrix of system state variables and control input, which are greatly affected by changing these two weighting matrices of problem solving and optimization. For this reason, it is necessary to extract these two matrices for each separate path in order to improve the performance of the controller by trial and error. But by applying the proposed network which is trained with a new algorithm, not only the performance accuracy has increased, but the network extracts these two matrices without the need to spend human energy. Also, in order to reduce the existing time delays, especially in the implementation of the nonlinear controller on the robot in the experimental mode, by training other neural networks to optimally extract the benefit of the forecast horizon, reducing the calculations and increasing the speed of the solution has been achieved. In the hardware part, by examining and using operators such as the pixy camera and the U2D2 interface, which are faster than the usual method, the solution time has been reduced.

This study aims to understand how gender diversity and gender attitudes are linked to the sexual well-being of young adolescents. Data was collected among 561 adolescents in secondary schools in Flanders and binary logistic regressions were performed. Gender diversity was conceptualized as gender identity, gender expression, sex assigned at birth, sexual orientation and personal gender attitudes. Whereas “like to become a wo/man” and body image were used as measures for sexual well-being. Age and migration were added as covariates.The data illustrates that gender diversity is present among young adolescents and that it can be linked to young adolescent’s body image and liking to become a wo/man. In addition, it shows how diverse sets of gender attitudes are differently associated with sexual well-being outcomes. The findings also suggest the internalization of patriarchal and heterosexual societal norms by the respondents. The results indicate an association between on the one hand gender diversity and gender attitudes and on the other hand adolescent sexual well-being. Furthermore, it suggests that gender transformative research and programs that aim to improve adolescent sexual health and well-being should carefully choose their gender focus and invest in improving gender equity beyond the individual level. Additional research is needed to investigate the association between gender diversity and adolescent sexual wellbeing among diverse sexual well-being conceptualizations and specific groups (gender, ethnic, and others) of young adolescents.

The article revisits the canonical (Dem>Num>A>N) and non-canonical (A>Dem>Num>N & Dem>A>Num>N) prenominal patterns in Mandarin Chinese, from the perspective of the Labeling Algorithm.
