The issue of physical and mathematical representation of the thermal dynamics (kinetics) of the process of conversion of exhaust gases in a catalytic converter in dangerous, from the point of view of fire, uncontrolled emergency operating modes of its operation is considered. Modern automobile engines are required to ensure fire safety. On engines with converters, this conflicts with stringent international environmental standards, the satisfaction of which requires the dangerously heated converter to be placed in the engine compartment next to flammable combustible materials. It is proposed to solve the problematic issue by monitoring and diagnosing fire and emergency operating conditions of neutralizers in an in-place method, scientifically substantiated on an interdisciplinary basis – by analyzing the composition of the exhaust gases. The method has been positively tested under real operating conditions.

The stability of the work of enterprises of dust-forming areas of industry critically depends on the ability of enterprises to ensure the required level of explosion and fire safety of production, which increases the relevance of improving the traditional methods used, as well as the introduction of new and additional explosion prevention measures. In the article, using mathematical and computer modeling methods, the main factors and patterns of the formation of an explosive dust situation in ventilated industrial premises with the release of combustible dust are investigated. On this basis, the possibility of using permanent general exchange ventilation to reduce the likelihood of the formation of explosive situations and prevent the occurrence of explosions and fires in dusty industrial premises is shown.

The article raises the issue of ensuring the safety of the population during the transportation of emergency chemically dangerous substances by road on the routes of movement in the Arctic zone. The analysis of the predicted possible consequences for accidents with the depressurization of tanks with emergency chemically hazardous substances transported in the Arctic zone at extremely low temperatures was carried out, a comparative analysis of the consequences of accidents at various weather conditions of the Arctic zone and central Russia. The depths of chemical infection are calculated with various parameters of depressurization of the tank in areas of emergency braking and in the stop area. Features of the transportation of emergency chemically hazardous substances are given at extremely low temperatures and recommendations for ensuring the safety of the population on the routes of transport in the settlements of the Arctic zone.

Atmospheric pollution by harmful substances in the course of anthropogenic human activity is an urgent problem of modern industrial production. Grain processing enterprises are not an exception here and are currently characterized by a negative impact on the environmental security of our country. Relevant economic entities in the process of operation of elevator complexes in the operation of grain dryers actively emit hazardous to human health gas particles, reducing the number of emissions of which contributes to the technological implementation of special purification systems. In this work methods of adsorption purification of furnace gas emissions from carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide are considered. As a sorption material it is proposed to use the waste of the enterprise of processing and storage of vegetable raw materials – grain waste. In the course of the study was studied the characteristics of the enterprise, made technological calculations of equipment. A new scheme for effective purification of gas emissions has been proposed, which will help reduce the concentration of carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide. A calculation was carried out to determine the necessary consumption of sorption material to achieve the required residual concentration of these harmful substances, the prevented environmental damage to the environment was assessed when introducing the technology of cleaning gas emissions with grain waste.

The purpose of the article is to develop a system for scoring the contributions of various technical and organizational measures to the magnitude of the risk of an accident based on existing approaches to the fire risk assessment at hazardous production facilities. To achieve the goal of the study and the formation of a score in cooperation with the organization operating the storage tanks of substances under pressure, a number of influencing factors were obtained. The following methods were applied in the work: analysis of hierarchies, comparison, analogy, study of documents and results of activities. The result of the work is the developed scoring system with groups of factors influencing the probability of an emergency and the resulting weight coefficients of the groups and the factors themselves. A method for point-factor estimation of the frequency of events initiating fire hazardous situations for underground liquefied petroleum gas tanks operated at gas filling stations is proposed. The results obtained can be used in assessing the fire risk for facilities where accidents can occur associated with the formation of an explosive and fire hazardous situation.

Open Joint Stock Company «Russian railways» is actively implementing projects to create innovative traction rolling stock that is safe for the environment and people, which is in good agreement with the goals of sustainable development. For effective management, comprehensive assessment and justification of the main directions for the development of locomotive traction, it is necessary to create a system of balanced environmental indicators. The issues of ensuring fire safety of locomotives remain relevant. The purpose of the work is to form a system of balanced environmental indicators for innovative traction railway rolling stock, taking into account fire safety requirements. The analysis of the activities of the world's largest railway companies in the field of environmental safety is carried out. The concept of balanced ecological development in the field of development and operation of innovative locomotives is presented. It is determined that the problems of environmental protection are considered separately from the issues of fire safety. An analysis of the concept of «balanced environmental development» is presented. The importance of the «Fire safety» criterion in the system of priorities for the development of traction rolling stock has been determined. Indicators that take into account fire safety requirements are presented. The expediency of their inclusion in the system of balanced environmental indicators is substantiated. Their characteristics are given. A methodology for calculating the effectiveness of implementing environmental and fire safety requirements for newly developed locomotives is proposed.

The compositions of petroleum products obtained from different oil fractions were studied by gas-liquid chromatography. It is shown, that in order to establish the nature of the oil product before and after exposure to high temperatures in the fire-technical examination, it is necessary, along with the identification of peaks on chromatograms by chromatographic parameters, to process them using the internal normalization method. To establish the nature of the oil product and the fraction of oil from which this oil product was obtained, it was proposed to group all identified hydrocarbons into three main groups (alkanes, arenes, isoprenoids). To determine from which fraction of oil the oil product was obtained, it is sufficient to estimate the relative content of the selected groups. For petroleum products of the gasoline fraction, the group of arenes is the predominant group, and for petroleum products of the medium distillate fractions of oil, the group of alkanes predominates in their compositions. To determine the type of petroleum product both before and after exposure to high temperatures in the fire zone, it is sufficient to determine the alkane whose content in the alkane group is maximum, as well as to analyze the content of arene subgroups and identify the arene subgroup whose contribution to the composition of the oil product is maximum. In addition, to confirm that an oil product belongs to gasoline or diesel fuels, it is sufficient to detect in its composition a group of tetramethylbenzenes or alkanes of an isoprenoid structure, respectively.

The paper assesses the effectiveness of shock-wave technology cutting for rocks. A comparison of materials cutting technologies using a shock-wave and a shaped charge is done. Shows a significant reduction in the consumption of explosives and an increase in efficiency in shock-wave cutting with a simultaneous reduction in safe distances. Solving the problems of underwater explosions in the interests of rescue operations in emergency situations.

Long-term operation of fire alarm systems, even with routine maintenance, often leads to untimely detection of a fire. Due to the possibility of contamination, dust and, as a consequence, a decrease in the sensitivity of smoke fire detectors, their normal operation will be in question. The use of smoke detectors in the process of maintenance that do not simulate the optical density of the environment corresponding to a real fire leads to the fact that in the event of a real fire, the possibility of timely detection of dangerous factors is reduced. The work examines the problem of checking the installed fire alarm system for its effective functioning, as well as the possibility of ensuring safe evacuation when threshold smoke levels are reached. Mathematical modeling of smoke propagation is presented and comparative full-scale tests are carried out. Based on a series of experiments, an effective method has been proposed for testing a fire alarm system while simultaneously conducting exercises for the safe evacuation of personnel at a protected facility under conditions of a real decrease in visibility due to the appearance of smoke from a fire.
