The transformative impact of new media and multiple media platforms on Canada's communication landscape has redefined how film and television stars shape and influence the mass population's thinking and behavior, in contrast to the traditional media era. This research explores these changes by examining the interplay between celebrity influence, media consumption, and societal dynamics. The mediatization theory serves as a theoretical framework to understand the relationship between media and society, particularly in the context of Canada. The study focuses on the shifting roles of film and television stars within this dynamic media landscape, and highlighting their evolving influence on public perceptions and behaviors. Qualitative content analysis, grounded in mediatization theory and guided by a comparative lens, has been employed as the research methodology. This method allows for a meticulous examination of diverse media sources, encompassing traditional and new media platforms, to unveil the multifaceted ways celebrities shape mass population thinking and behavior. The advent of new media platforms has facilitated direct and interactive communication between stars and their audiences, fostering personalized engagement and dismantling hierarchical barriers. The influence of film and television stars extends beyond entertainment, interacting with Canadian cultural narratives and societal issues. As celebrities leverage new media platforms to champion social causes, they contribute to reshaping cultural norms and values. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of media influence in the digital age, showcasing the sophisticated bond between media, celebrities, and societal evolution within the Canadian narrative.

Ceramics in Southeast Asian countries have been deeply influenced by Chinese ceramics, yet they also embody unique cultural attributes. This paper traces the tribute trade between the Yuan Dynasty of China and the Sukhothai Dynasty of Thailand, seeking commonalities in ceramics during that period. The study aims to compare and analyze the roles, styles, techniques, and mutual influences of Yuan Dynasty ceramics and Sukhothai Dynasty ceramics in tribute trade. Through the collection and analysis of relevant historical documents, archaeological data, and ceramic artifacts, it unveils the connections and distinctions between the ceramics of these two dynasties. The research explores the impacts of cultural exchange between the two nations in ceramics, including the transmission of techniques, artistic influences, and the exchange of art. The results of the study demonstrate that Yuan Dynasty ceramics and Sukhothai Dynasty ceramics mutually influenced each other in tribute trade and cultural exchange, jointly driving the development and innovation of ceramic art in both countries. This research holds significant importance for a deeper understanding of the diversity of Eastern ceramic culture and cultural exchange in tribute trade.

The Second World conflict had just ended when William Golding wrote Lord of the Flies, which exposed the brutality and evil of both human nature and conflict. Golding employs a lot of symbolism to convey his viewpoint and examination of human nature in this book, whether it is through the creation of the characters, the structuring of the plot, or the choice of language. The symbolism of the characters in Lord of the Flies will be the main topic of this study. This study explores the author's background at the time of writing, the symbolism that employed, and the significance of a number of the book's central characters, such as Ralph, who stands for democracy and civilization, Piggy, who stands for intelligence and reason, Jack, who stands for savagery and desire, and Simon, who stands for human kindness. Furthermore, the study also skims over the absence of a female gender viewpoint in Lord of the Flies.

The purpose of this topic is to study the positive and negative impacts of the internet and media on LGBTQ people. This is because, with China's rapid development, the speed and breadth of information dissemination in social platforms and media is increasing. More and more sexual minority young people are participating in discussions on social media, sharing their lives, gender identity, and sexual orientation, and expressing their views and opinions. However, the fact that the phenomenon of verbal violence continues to affect the LGBTQ community while providing vulnerable groups with access to information, knowledge, resources and empowerment cannot be ignored. This study conducted interviews with a random sample of LGBTQ people in different regions of China in order to analyse the positive and negative messages about LGBTQ people on the internet from a more humane perspective. The results of the interviews also illustrate the harm caused by verbal harassment and violence to the LGBTQ community. Some LGBTQ people, when faced with such unequal treatment, will rise and fight back, expressing their dissatisfaction and fighting for their rights through self-empowerment in the form of words or behaviours. The dominant mindset is to avoid such harm and discuss and entertain it in their social communities.

This study explores the impact of electronic device usage on interpersonal relationships, analyzing both positive and negative consequences across diverse social dynamics. It highlights that while devices like smartphones facilitate communication and social connection, especially for isolated groups like the elderly and teenagers, they often negatively affect the quality of professional, intimate, and familial interactions. The concept of 'phubbing,' where attention is diverted to phones during social interactions, is critically examined for its role in reducing relationship satisfaction and emotional commitment. There are also some other concepts used with electronic devices that are discussed. Key mediating and moderating variables encompass individual characteristics and interpersonal perceptions. Practical insights for mitigating adverse effects and enhancing communication quality are provided. The study underscores the need for longitudinal research and varied measurement methods to capture the complex interplay between technology use and interpersonal relationship dynamics, aiming to guide future research toward a more profound understanding of these phenomena.

J.M. Coetzee, one of the most esteemed authors in the English-speaking world today, exhibited clear postcolonial tendencies in his early works. In his later writings, he gradually shifted his focus away from the South African context to explore themes such as rewriting classics, marginalized communities, and immigration. This paper, rooted in Foucault's theory of discourse-power and theories of the body, examines Coetzee's reflections and critiques of the discourse-power relationship and social disciplinary practices in his works. Furthermore, drawing from postcolonial scholars like Homi Bhabha, the paper investigates the consistent central-peripheral colonial geometric relationships in Coetzee's works and summarizes the strategies of "appropriation" and "mimicry" as means to challenge and subvert these power dynamics.

"Dasein" is a central concept in Heidegger's philosophy, representing a unique form of existence among many. Unlike other existents, it takes priority over them, defining their existence. Unlike other theories of existence, the ontological treatment of "Dasein" is not an abstract idea but deeply rooted in everyday human life. This paper explores the concept of "Dasein" following the insights of Being and Time. This passage discusses the background and significance of Martin Heidegger's philosophy, as well as its research value and influence on subsequent philosophers. It then delves into Heidegger's philosophy of "Dasein," explaining its fundamental constructs, including the rejection of the Cartesian subject and the establishment of a solid philosophical foundation based on existence itself rather than the level of the existent. It further explores the basic ways in which Dasein unfolds, such as "thrownness," "projection," and "fallenness," deepening the understanding of the structure of being-in-the-world and its fundamental regulations.

Many program formats are shifting from traditional variety shows to online variety shows as internet technology continues to develop. Online video platforms, led by iQiyi, have focused their content creation on the market for online self-produced variety shows. In many fields, program teams and directors choose youth subculture as the core creative concept of the programs. Different audience groups can find organizations and be entertained within their respective niches. In this thesis, we will take two classic online subculture variety shows, U Can U BB and Street Dance of China, as examples to explore how the in-depth combination of youth subcultures and online variety shows has aroused attention and threatened mainstream culture. At the same time, mainstream ideology and capital have been incorporated into the subculture market, and the modern audiovisual industry needs to reap stable benefits from the transition. In addition, the research methods of case studies of Chinese internet variety shows and comparative analysis will be utilized, bringing new thoughts and inspiration to media practitioners and content creators.

Internet terms have not only emerged as a result of the Internet's rapid and unprecedented development over the past few decades, but they have also become an integral part of contemporary linguistic expression. These terms have undergone significant evolution, adapting and altering in response to the dynamic online environment. Their presence is no longer restricted to technical jargon or niche communities. Instead, they have found their way into everyday conversations, regardless of age or location. This study intends to delve deeply into these internet terms, with a particular emphasis on the modern Chinese language, in order to uncover the cultural and social values they embody. Understanding the evolution of the Chinese language provides valuable insight into the nation's shifting cultural narratives and emergent social trends, given that the Chinese Internet community is one of the largest in the world. The objective is not only to document the symbiotic relationship between the Internet and linguistic change but also to comprehend its essence.
