Feminism not only has many manifestations in theory but also in practical life. This paper explores feminism from the perspective of literary works from both East and West. In the East, although feminism was influenced very late, it began to sprout as early as the feudal society. The feminism of this period was closed, not bold, and oppressive. Cao Xueqin's "Dream of the Red Chamber" can become an encyclopedia of Chinese feudal society. Feminism is manifested in all aspects here. When China was in a backward feudal period, Western societies such as Britain and France had already begun a vigorous bourgeois revolution. Women are already openly and boldly fighting for democracy, freedom, and liberation. British writer Charlotte Bronte, influenced by the idea of compromise and combining her own personal experience, wrote the masterpiece Jane Eyre. This paper analyzed the characters in Dream of the Red Mansion and Jane Eyre from the perspective of feminism.

This essay examines the portrayal of women in post-World War II America, focusing on the perpetuation of gender stereotypes and challenges faced by women in the era. Through historical and visual analysis of primary sources, namely a Coca-Cola poster and the iconic V-J Day in Times Square photograph, the study reveals the complexities underlying societal attitudes towards women during this transformative period. The Coca-Cola poster exemplifies the idealized image of women as submissive caregivers, despite their growing role in the workforce. Similarly, the analysis of the V-J Day photograph unveils the contrast between the perceived romance and the reality of non-consensual interaction, shedding light on the evolving understanding of consent and the limitations of prevailing gender norms. By juxtaposing historical context and visual representation, this research underscores the nuanced interplay between media imagery and the evolving societal roles of women in post-war America. The study contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges and representations women faced in shaping the post-war landscape.

The native language will have a negative transfer on the acquisition of second language. Dialects, as a branch of Chinese, also have an influence on English acquisition. The perception of consonants is one of the important foundations of English learning. This study will adopt discrimination as an experimental method to investigate whether there is a significant difference in the influence of different dialects on the perception of English consonants. Three major dialects in Jiangsu province will be taken as a study case to verify the hypothesis that there is a significant difference on the perception of English consonants in different dialects. This study will fill the gap in the overall research on the impact of three major dialects in Jiangsu province on the perception of English consonants, help English language learners with dialect background to reduce the influence of dialects on them and provide some teaching key points to teachers, especially for English language learners in Jiangsu province.

Nowadays, literary criticism tries to evaluate the literary work by fitting it into a certain established theory. Instead, this essay focuses on the original dialogues in Jane Austens novel Emma to give a pragmatic testimonial of how revolutionary Jane Austen is in showing the shifting power dynamics between Emma and her friend Harriet Smith through seemingly easy-spoken exchange. By paying attention to three specific passages in the novel, this essay analyses the authors use of words, tone and punctuation in conversations between the pair of friends. The analysis enables the assessment of their characteristics at different stages of the novel and their consequent change in positions in terms of power dynamics. From Harriets initial unsteadiness and Emmas dominance to obtaining relevant balance, this essay reveals Austens construction of power dynamics between characters as variables that maintain conservation. The consequential function of such design is that the establishment of power dynamics helps to distribute authority and exert influences on the characters behaviour, thereby presenting the plot development and solid personal growth of characters.

Domestic violence, a pervasive and deeply concerning issue, continues to cast a long shadow over societies worldwide, with developing countries facing unique challenges in addressing this problem. This paper delves into the complex landscape of domestic violence in developing nations, aiming to scrutinize its current state, summarize research findings, and explore various theoretical perspectives to better comprehend the underlying dynamics. The multifaceted examination encompasses an elucidation of fundamental concepts related to domestic violence, a delineation of the specific human rights infringed upon by this scourge, a comprehensive evaluation of the existing situation in developing nations, and a discussion of viable solutions to mitigate this crisis. Ultimately, this research aims to create a comprehensive framework for understanding and addressing domestic violence in developing countries. By thoroughly exploring its various facets, we hope to provide insights that will contribute to the development of more effective intervention strategies and the safeguarding of the rights and well-being of women who are disproportionately affected by this issue, particularly in developing nations where unique challenges demand special attention and action.

Nowadays, globalization and informatization are deepening through social media, and the way people communicate with each other has also changed dramatically. Thus, many Internet expressions were born. The study of network language plays an important role in communicating with the world, recognizing the diversity of the world and language learning. In daily life, people often use it directly, but if more words are not translated and understood, their scope of use will have great limitations. There are three topics discussed in this paper: the main characteristics of Internet slang and phrases and abbreviations of modern society, the corresponding spoken phenomenon, and Chinese Translation Strategies for Internet Terms. It involves analysis of word meanings, vocabulary statistics, collection and classification and synchronic research using main social media Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. It could be seen that no matter whether people think internet slang vitalizes or destroys language, there's no denying how revealing it is of the culture that invents and uses it -- and the ease with which people adapt their language to new technologies and concepts.

It has become a historical inertia that the public and academia deem Lock as the foundation of American politics. However, Locke never explicitly supports the separation of power. Unlike Modern Liberalism, there is no clear-cut definition identifying the boundary between the legislative and executive power. It is a common mistake to interpret the Declaration of Independence as originating from Lockean Liberalism. In reality, Lockean political philosophy and DOI bifurcate at several points within the Second Treatise: executive power and legislative power can be owned by the same person; the exercise of executive power can exceed the limits of the legislatures. Besides, the question of the origin of the executive power remains unsolved. This essay will point out these mysteries and academic misunderstandings by explaining that the Law of Nature is the foundational thought of The Second Treatise. This essay will also delineate conflicts in The Second Treatise but argue that the divine intention is the resolution to all the self-contradictions. This divine intention is set up by both normative and historical threads.

During the Yongzheng reign, the court arts, including painting, porcelain, enamelware, snuff bottles, furniture, etc., reached a remarkably high level. This was not only attributed to the personal artistic cultivation and aesthetic preferences of Emperor Yongzheng but also, crucially, to the direct management of the Office of Palace Affairs by Prince Yi Yunxiang. Yunxiang shared an inseparable bond with Emperor Yongzheng since childhood, and he was well aware of the emperor's preferences. Yunxiang himself possessed excellent taste, enabling him to better implement Emperor Yongzheng's aesthetic preferences and establish the "Internal Court Respectful Production" style. Furthermore, Yunxiang led the utilization of Western missionaries, infusing fresh vitality into Qing court art and creating a distinctive aesthetic trend in the Yongzheng era.
