Amana wanyuensis is a recently discovered species from the Dabieshan Mountains, Anhui Province, China. It is like A. edulis in terms of leaves (2), bracts (2–3), flowers (1–5), and yellow anthers and round (versus oblique) stigmas, but differs most notably from A. edulis in its ovoid bulb with a glabrous interior, green leaves with white veins, bracts 3.0–5.0 cm below the flower and tepals with white streaks. Additionally, this new species forms an independent clade in the phylogenetic tree.

Trichoderma changiae (Hypocreales), a new species isolated from a native orchid in Taiwan 从台湾原生兰花中分离出的一个新物种--Changiae毛霉(Hypocreales)

The orchid family is a natural resource pool, harboring numerous yet undiscovered species of endophytic fungi. However, few studies have investigated these endophytic fungi within Taiwan’s native orchids. In this study, two Trichoderma strains isolated from the roots of the native Taiwanese orchid, Dendrobium nakaharae, were identified as a new species, Trichoderma changiae. The phylogenetic analyses using three gene loci (ITS, tef1, and rpb2) revealed that the new species possesses distinctive sequences at these loci, clearly differentiating it from other species. Additionally, the analyses showed that T. changiae belongs to the Viride clade and is closely related to T. viride. The morphological and cultural characteristics of these isolates were observed, described, and illustrated in detail. Furthermore, the distinctions between this new species and its close relatives were compared, and the findings are presented herein.

Guatteria is a Neotropical genus comprising ca. 175 species, widely distributed in the forests of Central and South America. Guatteria sanjorgense is described, illustrated and compared with morphologically similar species. This new species was found in the San Jorge Botanical Garden, a regional conservation area located in the biodiverse Andean forests of the upper Magdalena basin, Colombia. This species is characterized by unusual short stipes of less than 14 mm long and 5–12 globose monocarps.

Alloexidiopsis sinensis sp. nov. found in Yunnan Province, China, is described here as a new species based on its morphology and phylogeny. Alloexidiopsis sinensis is characterized by its membranaceous basidiomata with a grandinoid hymenophore and a monomitic hyphal system bearing generative hyphae with clamp connections and allantoid basidiospores measuring 14.5–23 × 4.5–6.5 µm. Phylogenetic analyses of the new species were based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit (nLSU) of ribosomal DNA (rDNA) sequences. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that the new species belonged to the genus Alloexidiopsis, and was retrieved as a sister to A. nivea.

A new species, Candolleomyces amygdaliformis, is described from Pakistan, based on morpho-anatomically, and phylogenetic analysis of combined ITS and LSU sequences. Morpho-anatomically, the new taxon is characterized by a light brownish gray pileus with a reddish brown center and a decurved margin, a light gray, shiny stipe, and amygdaliform to phaseoliform basidiospores. Phylogenetically it clusters with another species C. campanulatus from Pakistan. Illustrated morphological description, phylogenetic analyses and comparisons with morphologically similar or phylogenetically related species as well as a key to the known species from Pakistan are provided.

Humaira Bashir, S. Jabeen, A. Naseer, Abdul Nasir Khalid
Onnia pakistanica, a novel species, is described from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. This species is distinguished from its closest kin, O. tibetica, by its unique rusty orange to clay-buff and fawn pileus, larger (5.0–10.1 × 2.5–9.0 μm) basidiospores, broader and fusoidal cystidioles (11.1–16 × 6.5–8.6 μm) and setae with more or less rounded at the tips and broader at the base. The taxonomic status of this species is supported by molecular phylogenetic analysis using ITS and combined ITS and LSU sequences. The presence of O. pakistanica in Pakistan also marks the first genus record from South Asia, adding to the significance of this discovery.

A new species of Onosma L. (Boraginaceae: Lithospermeae), Onosma serpentinica Yıldırım & Binzet, from Muğla Province, in south-west Anatolia, Türkiye, is described and illustrated. It grows on the ultramafic slopes at Pinus brutia forest clearings near Göcek district of Muğla Province on elevation between 230–290 m a.s.l. Onosma serpentinica is a serpentine endemic belonging to section Onosma subsection Haplotricha (Boiss.) Gürke. The most similar species from Türkiye is O. argentata Hub.-Mor., which is distributed in only two localities from Erzincan province (Eastern Türkiye) and differs from it by the indumentum type, shorter basal and cauline leaves, fewer-flowered cymes, different corolla colour, different corolla indumentum, longer filaments and styles as well as bigger nutlets. Additionally, the geographical distributions and map, an image of the holotype specimen, diagnostic characters, detailed photographs, habitat descriptions, and an identification key for the new species, O. serpentinica, and O. argentata are provided along with a vernacular name and IUCN conservation status for O. serpentinica.

Pineapple is one of the major crops in northern Thailand. Like all the other plants, it has associated with it, a wide range of fungi, which may be saprobic, pathogenic, or endophytic. This study investigated fungi associated with pineapple in Chiang Rai Province, northern Thailand. Based on morphology and multilocus phylogeny of the ITS and LSU sequence data, Anthracocystis ananatum is described as a new species with its detailed asexual morph. Compared to other Anthracocystis species, A. ananatum has a distinctive morphotype that includes septate hyphae, conidigenous cells, and conidiophores. In addition, Spegazzinia tessarthra is reported for the first time as a new host and geographic record. The complete descriptions, photo-micrographs, and phylogenies of the new species Anthracocystis ananatum and a new host and geographic record S. tessarthra are provided and discussed.

There are around 500 species of saprobic basidiomycetes in the genus Agaricus, of which 21 are reported from Pakistan. In this study, Agaricus karakensis sp. nov. is described as a new species from the tropical semi-arid District Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The taxonomic identification was based on morphological features and ITS-region of rDNA. Both, field data and morpho-anatomical characterizations support that our specimens belong to a new species of Agaricus section Bivelares from family Agaricaceae, order Agaricales. In the phylogenetic tree, A. karakensis fall in section Bivelares forming a sister branch with A. bitorquis. In this paper, the nearest falling species were also compared with our novel finding in morphology.
