The COVID-19 pandemic affected practically every country in the world and changed how people lead their daily lives. The purpose of research was to ascertain the relationship between physical activity levels and the incidence of health issues among pupils. This research was conducted using an anonymous online survey that contained selected questions from the World Health Organization's health behaviour in schoolchildren (HBSC questionnaire). The sample of participants consisted of 500 elementary and high school students from the territory of southern Serbia. It was observed that less than 1% of students reported having poor health, while 6% of participants said that they were dissatisfied with their health overall, compared to 94% of students who reported being satisfied with their health. Additionally, a total of 88% of students evaluated their lives with the highest marks, out of which 28% considered their lives to be the greatest they could possibly be. 90% of participants from this sample of students in southern Serbia reported engaging in physical activity three or more times per week, whereas only 3% of students reported engaging in physical activity only once a week or not at all. The key finding of this study proved that students who engaged in greater physical activity had fewer health issues than students who engaged in the least amount of physical activity. There are numerous benefits to being physically active, including how it influences the maintenance of human health and helps children grow and develop properly. Therefore, the importance of this work is reflected in the possibility of gaining knowledge about physical activity during the state of emergency and the connection between physical activity and health problems that emerged among students in southern Serbia during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This research investigates the attitudes of future teachers of Serbian as the mother tongue and English as a foreign language (EFL) regarding online teaching during the coronavirus pandemic. Although teaching has continued in virtual classrooms, university teachers have encountered numerous challenges related to teaching the invisible generations: motivation, interaction, and the role of students in online classes, as well as the functionality of methods, techniques, and online tools. The conducted research shows that future teachers of Serbian as the mother tongue and future EFL teachers perceive online teaching as an alternative or a supplement to traditional teaching applied in specific social circumstances. During the period of a year and a half, their attitudes towards online teaching have changed, ranging from acceptance to indecisiveness, and including an inclination to return to traditional classrooms. It should be stated that the bachelor students studying Serbian accepted this way of teaching to a higher degree than the EFL bachelor students. A statistically significant difference is evident in the respondents’ replies with respect to their field of study, but not with respect to the respondents’ gender or the current year of study.

The paper explains the role played by the practice of analogical reasoning in piano lessons, especially at the beginner level. The first stage of piano studies is the most important one in raising musicians. In order to develop a young student’s understanding and appreciation of music and piano playing, teachers use interesting and logically connected stories with plenty of entertaining characters, colorful illustrations and imaginative scenes. Comprehensive analogies with images of characters and their adventures used to introduce and expand on musical concepts in working with beginners make complicated playing techniques understandable and acceptable to them. It is very important to invoke students’ imagination and creativity using fantasy, as well as analogies from everyday life, in order to help them to envisage musical images and express them through physical movements. By making progress in piano playing, students also improve their problem-solving skills in the arts, sciences, natural environment and social life.

Diabetes mellitus, including type 2 diabetes, is a global health issue with less than 50% of individuals achieving optimal glycemic control. A study at Health Center Krupa na Uni, Republic Srpska, assessed adherence in 159 adults with type 2 diabetes, during the study conducted during 2019-2020. The research used a general and specific questionnaire The Adherence in Chronic Diseases Scale. Findings showed 72.9% had moderate adherence, 16.4% had low adherence, and only 10.7% had high adherence. The female gender predicted higher adherence (p=0.048). The type of oral hypoglycemic agents (p=0.520) was not associated with adherence. Older age (p=0.316) and lower education level (p=0.182) were associated with lower adherence, but not significantly. Age over 60 years and level of education had no significant effects on adherence. Although there was no statistical significance, employed respondents (p=0.076) and those living in rural areas had a higher level of adherence (p=0.064). Some respondents took medications based on their physical needs and beliefs, indicating the need to address beliefs and behaviors influencing adherence. Poor adherence remains a significant issue, and addressing adherence barriers, particularly those related to gender, can improve health outcomes for individuals with type 2 diabetes. Ongoing research and interventions are crucial to improve adherence rates and health outcomes in individuals with type 2 diabetes.

Surgical treatment protocols for rare types of clefts do not exist, especially when they are associated with severe anomalies of the brain and face. Surgical treatment of a newborn with holoprosencephaly, premaxillary agenesis and median cleft lip is a big challenge for the surgeon. The complete lack of bone in the nasal bones and premaxilla make surgical therapy almost impossible. The role of pre-surgical orthodontic therapy plays a major role in creating the conditions for surgical repair of cleft-damaged parts of the face.Case presentation. The paper presents presurgical orthodontic therapy in a newborn with a median cleft lip using the RBJ stimulator. Conclusion. The use of stimulators of a specific construction in the therapy of rare clefts is the method of choice.

The 5-axis CNC machine tools are used for manufacturing free form surfaces of sophisticated parts such as turbine blades, airfoils, impellers, and aircraft components. The virtual machining systems can be used in order to analyze and modify the 5-axis CNC machine tools operations. Cutting forces and cutting temperatures induce deflection errors in thin-walled structures such as impeller blades through machining operations. Thin-walled impeller blades' flexibility can result in machining errors such as overcutting or undercutting. So, decreasing the deflection error during machining operations of impeller blades can achieve the desired accuracy in produced parts. Optimized machining parameters can be obtained to minimize the deflection of machined impeller blades. In terms of precision and efficiency enhancement in component production processes, a virtual machining system is developed to predict and minimize deflection errors of 5-axis milling operations of impeller blades. The deflection error in machined impeller blades is calculated by using finite element analysis. The optimization methodology based on the genetic algorithm is applied to minimize the deflection error of impeller blades in machining operations. To validate the integrated virtual machining system in the study, the impeller is milled by using a 5-axis CNC machine tool. The CMM machine is used in order to measure and analyze deflection error in the machined impeller blades. As a result, by using the developed virtual machining system in the study, accuracy and efficiency in 5-axis milling operations of impellers can be increased.

Mass-customization is related to optimizing the balance between flexibility, strongly required by the customer-focused industries and manufacturing efficiency, which is critical for market competitiveness. In the conventional industries, the process of designing, validating and manufacturing a product is long and expensive. Some of the common approaches for addressing those issues are parametric product modeling and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). However, the costs involved are still relatively high because of the very special expertise needed and the cost of the specialized software. Also, the specific design of the product cannot be validated in a real-time, which often leads to making hard compromises between the specific customer requirements and the structural properties of the product in its exploitation. In this paper, we propose the novel methodology for real-time structural analysis assistance for custom product design. We introduce the concept of so-called compiled FEA model, a Machine Learning (ML) model, consisting of dataset of characteristic product parameters and associated physical quantities and properties, selected ML algorithms and the sets of associated hyperparameters. A case study of creating a compiled FEA model for the case of internal orthopedic fixator is provided.

In the present day manufacturing scenario, computer numerical control (CNC) technology has evolved out as a cost effective process to perform repetitive, difficult and unsafe machining tasks while fulfilling the dynamic requirements of high dimensional accuracy and low surface finish. Adoption of CNC technology would help an organization in achieving enhanced productivity, better product quality and higher flexibility. In this paper, an endeavor is put forward to apply discriminant analysis as a multivariate statistical tool to investigate the effects of speed, feed, depth of cut, nose radius and type of the machining environment of a CNC turning center on surface roughness, tool life, cutting force and power consumption. Simultaneous discrimination analysis develops the corresponding discriminant function for each of the responses taking into account all the input parameters together. On the contrary, step-wise discriminant analysis develops the same functions while considering only those significant input parameters influencing the responses. Higher values of hit ratio and cross-validation percentage prove the application of both the discriminant functions as effective prediction tools for achieving enhanced performance of the considered CNC turning operation.

Adoption of CNC technology would help an organization in achieving enhanced productivity, better product quality and higher flexibility. In this paper, an endeavor is put forward to apply discriminant analysis as a multivariate statistical tool to investigate the effects of speed, feed, depth of cut, nose radius and type of the machining environment of a CNC turning center on surface roughness, tool life, cutting force and power consumption. Simultaneous discrimination analysis develops the corresponding discriminant function for each of the responses taking into account all the input parameters together. On the contrary, step-wise discriminant analysis develops the same functions while considering only those significant input parameters influencing the responses. Higher values of hit ratio and cross-validation percentage prove the application of both the discriminant functions as effective prediction tools for achieving enhanced performance of the considered CNC turning operation.","PeriodicalId":51338,"journal":{"name":"Facta Universitatis-Series Mechanical Engineering","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":7.9,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87222609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
