Abstract This article deals centrally with the issue of the right to education, with the main author Anísio Teixeira, who took on the problem of defining inequalities in the social roles historically attributed to Brazilians, resulting in privileges. In this phenomenal order, education is committed to mirroring this state of injustice, a fact that could be relaxed by strengthening the quality of public school promoted by a renewing pedagogy. In John Dewey, Teixeira was inspired by the ideas of progressivism and encouraged to promote the necessary transformations from an archaic society to another modernizer. Paulo Freire dealt with similar problems, but suggested a pedagogy that could free individuals from oppressive conditions, whose school mechanism of banking education contributed to the achievement of domination. We saw connections between these authors who intended to boost development through innovative pedagogical actions. We based on the works of these intellectuals that allowed discussion, deepening and connections between the right to education and democracy.

Abstract This article aims to contribute to the studies related to Early Childhood Education, exploring the friendships marked by race, gender, class, and age, in a Municipal Center for Early Childhood Education that attends 5-year-old children. It is an ethnography carried out in the city of São Paulo for seven months, using field notes. Based on the analyses, we highlight that the relationships between children and the perception they have on their ethnical-racial and gender identities are established by the contact with the differences. In their daily experience, children built meanings with reality and transformed the proposed meanings every time they played together practicing friendship.

Abstract The paper investigates a crisis linked to the action of the Jesuits from the Province of Brazil, in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. This crisis took place among the members of the Society and is exposed, in this manuscript, through criticisms directed to the superiors and in the complaints of deviant behaviors, made by the priests themselves who acted in the mission in Brazil. The Mission misdirections deepen as some members of the Society dishonored their religious vows and practiced violence, especially when dealing with the Indians in the villages. In order to verify these misdirections, we analyzed documentation, little explored and largely unknown for the Brazilian public, researched at the Archivum Romanum Societatis Iesu (ARSI), in Rome.

Abstract Based on data by researchers at the University of Warwick (UK), which indicate a positive relationship between Facebook use and the increase in attacks against refugees in Germany, the aim of this article is to establish a reference for understanding the functioning of social networks and their mediation role in the production and intensification of violence relations. This work resumes elements of the works of Theodor Adorno, Max Horkheimer, and Herbert Marcuse guided by the hypothesis of the existence of an ongoing forgetfulness in the social mediation organization. Instead of defending what would be a fair humanity, principles that keep barbarism as an active order are updated.

Abstract This study seeks to reflect on the relationship between the image reading mediation and aesthetic education, whose methodology is the Art-Based Educational Research (PEBA). We collected data in a mediation encounter between 6 and 7-year-old children with artist Marcelo Urizar. We based the study is based on Martins’ discussions on cultural mediation; Duarte and Schiller on aesthetic education; and Heidegger and Larrosa on the concept of experience. Among some perceptions, we understand that, when mediation is dialogical, proposing aesthetic nutrition and fruition, the possibilities of aesthetic education and resignification for the subject are amplified.
