The relationship between public relations and surveillance is a form of communication that reveals the interactions between today’s surveillance practices and companies’ sales strategies. The purpose of this article is to examine the relationships between demographic factors and individuals’ Instagram attitudes and behaviors. The article also looks at the relationships among levels of corporate trust, the sharing of private information on Instagram, individuals’ motivation to log in, the time spent daily on Instagram, and the number of accounts followed. Two-way ANOVA and post hoc tests have been used to examine with respect to demographics the differences between levels of institutional trust and levels at which relatively private information is sent. The relationships among level of institutional trust, level at which relatively private information is posted, motivation to log on, time spent daily on Instagram, and number of accounts followed have been examined using discriminant analysis. Individuals’ beliefs about protecting personal information and preventing unauthorized access have been determined to differ according to age group. Likewise, the level at which individuals post relatively private information on Instagram varies by age group. Also, a significant difference has been found for individuals’ level of institutional trust with their education and income levels. A significant relationship has been found for individuals’ institutional trust levels with their individual posting levels, motivation to log on, and time spent daily on Instagram. As a result, this study contributes to institutions that carry out public relations activities on Instagram and their target audiences with regard to recognizing their trust levels toward Instagram and institutions and their behaviors on Instagram.

Kuzey Amerika ve Batı Avrupa hedefli göçlerde yaşanan zorluklar ile komşu ülkedeki fırsatlar, son yıllarda birçok İranlı için Türkiye’yi yeni “hedef ülke” konumuna getirmiştir. Bu araştırma, Türkiye’de yaşayan İranlı göçmenler ile uluslararası koruma başvurusunda bulunmuş İranlıların göç deneyimlerini, Türkiye’ye entegrasyonlarında karşılaştıkları zorlukları, sosyal, ekonomik ve kültürel faktörleri de dikkate alarak incelemektedir. Araştırmanın temel amacı; İranlıların Türkiye’yi hedef ülke olarak seçme nedenleri ile ülkeye yerleşme ve entegrasyon süreçlerini analiz etmektir. Bu amacı gerçekleştirmek için çalışmada, Türkiye’nin farklı illerinde yaşayan 41 İranlı ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Nitel bulgular, coğrafi ve kültürel yakınlığı nedeniyle Türkiye’nin İranlılar için en iyi varış ülkelerinden biri olduğunu ve bu yakınlıkların İranlıların Türkiye’ye daha kolay entegre olabilmelerine imkân sağladığını göstermektedir. Ancak göçmenlerin yeni topluma entegre olma konusunda ciddi zorluklarla karşılaştıkları da görülmektedir. Bu zorluklar, işgücü piyasasına dâhil olmanın önündeki engellerden sağlık hizmetlerine erişime kadar uzanmaktadır. Ayrıca İranlı göçmenlerin günlük yaşamları ve gelecek planları, Türkiye’nin göçmenlere yönelik sürekli değişen uygulamalarından da etkilenmektedir. Bu araştırma, göç yönetimindeki karar vericilere İranlı göçmenlerin sosyoekonomik entegrasyonundaki engelleri azaltmak için stratejiler sunmaktadır.

Bu çalışma, Cumhuriyet dönemi Türk modernleşmesinin halka aktarılması sürecinin en önemli unsurlarından olan Cumhuriyet öğretmeni imgesini odağa almaktadır. Yaptığımız çalışmanın temel amacı; erken Cumhuriyet dönemi bağlamında Türk modernleşme sürecinin ülkenin en ücra köşelerindeki temsilcileri ve tatbik edicileri olan “Cumhuriyet öğretmenleri” gerçekliğini sorunsallaştırmak, bu dönemin öğretmen imgesinin oluşumunu anlamaya çalışmak ve bu imgenin içerimlerini ortaya koymaktır. Bu kapsamda çalışma nitel araştırma yöntemi çerçevesinde tasarlanmış ve çalışma verileri oldukça geniş bir alandan toplanmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışma bu kapsamda giriş ve sonuç kısımları dışında üç ana başlıktan oluşmaktadır. Birinci başlıkta, Cumhuriyet dönemi Türk modernleşmesinin ideolojik ve politik temelleri takip eden başlıkta Cumhuriyet öğretmeni kimliğinin devlet söyleminden öğretmen dergilerine hangi özelliklerle inşa edildiği, son başlıkta ise Cumhuriyet öğ- retmeninin siyasal işlevleri tartışmaya açılmaktadır. This paper is a methodological one, addressing the issue of how to deal with questions of identity, of farming, and its relation to the class locations of households engaged in farming and off-farm employment concurrently, which is usually called “pluriactivity”. The paper first examines and assesses why and how this problem arises out of different abstract conceptions of class, the social-class-identities of productive activities, the occupational identities of individuals and how the household boundaries are drawn in empirical research. Next, the paper makes suggestions for how to overcome these problems by paying attention to the problem of emergence, that is, how to describe and decide the very unity and identity that several income generating activities and forms of employment bring about concerning the class location of individuals and households. The leading argument of this essay is that the same or similar types of activities or types of employment derive their identity not from within themselves as separate entities but from the larger scheme of material, social or cultural objectives which the individuals and households, acting on the principle of “we-intentionality”, try to achieve by using their labour and resources as instruments.

The aim of this study is to reveal the views of administrators and instructors regarding the role adult education centers (AECs) have in the process of integrating Syrian refugees and to present relevant suggestions. This qualitative study has employed a phenomenological design, obtained the data using a semi-structured interview form. The study group of the research consists of administrators and instructors working at AECs in Izmir, Turkey between 2019-2020 and were identified using criterion sampling, a purposive sampling method. As a result of the research, the participants were revealed to have most commonly emphasized language learning under the theme of Syrian refugee adults’ social needs. Among the problems regarding the integration process of the Syrian refugees enrolled in the AECs, absenteeism and economic inadequacy came to the fore under the theme of problems regarding instructees. In terms of the AECs’ contributions to the adaptation process, their contributions to language learning, social adaptation, and establishing communication and relationships were emphasized under the theme of social skills development. According to the research results, states should develop certain policies to produce permanent solutions regarding Syrian refugees’ education and provide financial assistance regarding the problem of refugees’ economic inadequacy; AECs should also strengthen their collaborations with other institutions.
