visualisations and understanding how and why certain conclusions are drawn. Given data literacy’s broad theory and potential for application, a tendency to prioritise research data management, a single aspect of data literacy, points to the need for a more holistic approach. Also concerning is the trend of focusing efforts on those groups that offer the best (economic) return on investment – postgraduate researchers and other grant-funded workers – despite faculty recognising the unequal battle their undergraduates face in the form of misand dis-information, and the growing ubiquity and influence of data in this space. Given the work’s North American focus, some examples of initiatives and developments speak to situations generally not applicable to an Australian audience (librarians as faculty, and the teaching of for-credit library units, for example). However, the book’s content gives readers both interested in and currently practising data literacy initiatives plenty of inspiration to draw on as they seek to empower others in this ever-changing information age.

ABSTRACT By using the Australian Library History Forums (ALHF) as a lens, this paper will explore library history research in Australia and examine the value of the history of libraries and the library profession. The paper aims to encourage reflection on Australian library history – or library history in general, speculate on its value, consider the gaps in Australian library history, and advocate and encourage the exploration of these gaps. By examining the interests, priorities and values reflected in the ALHFs over time, the paper will reflect on what Australian library history has to say about collective professional and community memory, community and professional values as reflected in these histories and about changing perceptions and understandings of libraries, collections, and the place of libraries in communities. A challenge will be made for those interested in the histories of libraries and librarianship to uncover and to tell these untold stories.

) paper, A proposed path to bridge the gap between Information Behaviour Research and Professional Practice is a piece aiming to fi ll the gap between information research and professional practice, with information behaviour (IB) as a focus of the research area. It presents discussions about how professionals and practitioners can leverage information behaviour research fi ndings to guide service design and delivery. The paper pro-poses a path to bridge the gap between IB research and professional practice in these inter-actions between scholarly knowledge and the knowledges of professional practices, between researchers, teachers in LIS programs of professional education and information professionals. The paper implores academics, educators, and professionals to take these into con-sideration and work more closely to reduce the gap between information behaviour research and professional practice.
