High-voltage overhead transmission lines on farmland imply a permanent easement. System operators should compensate for expropriation of land and depreciation of the remaining farm area, but recognize only the former. Therefore, landowners often appeal to the law courts for fairer refunds. This study highlights that the area occupied by plinths and cabins, the height of pylons and the type of intersection are the main sources of depreciation. Moreover, electric transmission lines depreciate the residual farm area, but involving only two narrow strips of land on either side of infrastructures. Finally, the depreciation tends to decrease rapidly as the distance from the transmission line increases.

Investment support measures in agriculture can have differentiated effects on the strategic reorganisation and the performance of farms. In this paper, we study the patterns of technical change of a sample of farms in the Lombardy region, Italy, that invested in structural modernisation benefiting from the financial incentives provided under the measure 121. We find evidence relating the modernisation of farms under the umbrella of the measure 121 to limited positive changes in farmland and more substantial positive changes in other inputs. The results are not conclusive regarding a causal relationship between the measure 121 and the structural change of farms. Nonetheless, the paper describes a situation in which patterns of farmland reduction are relatively less frequent in farms that make use of this policy instrument.

In viticulture, the management of water resources is a relevant issue in the profiles of a socio – economic, environmental sustainability policy turned to the development of the vine-growing territories with Designation of Origin. The paper has set itself the goal of an economic assessment on business decisions related to a drought risk in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG, using the Bayesian methodology. The results showed the importance of an investment strategy that provides for the systematic introduction of emergency drought irrigation in the area DOCG’s vineyards which will guarantee the quality and the supply of the raw material, taking into account both the current evolution in marketing the product and the climate change scenarios.

This contribution proposes a theoretical model to support the environmental assessment for the organizations aiming at implementing an EMAS-ISO auditing process in the ground of the water services industry. The model tries to combine a new theory of value – based on natural, bio-genealogical and semantic surplus – with the cycle input - output - re-input characterizing namely the most critical area of the integrated waters service, the waste water treatment plants. A multidimensional pattern based on the Multi-Attribute Value Theory has been assumed as an effective operational framework connecting the contents of the treatment process, as defined by the scientific and technological tools supporting the judges of fact , and the issues of sustainability, supporting the value judgements .

Tourism is the third largest socio-economic activity in the EU and thus it can be considered an engine for development, producing many positive impacts, from trade sector to employment. At the same time, it can produce many negative impacts because it is configured according to the model of linear economy. A deep analysis of impacts produced by tourism sector and its great potential in contributing to the achievement of SDGs are presented. The aim of this paper is to identify a tourism development/management model able to produce multidimensional benefits and, simultaneously, reduce (environmental, social and economic) costs. In this perspective, the circular economy is proposed as a model able to contribute to make tourism more sustainable. This model necessarily requires appropriate evaluation tools, indicators and knowledge.

In order to estimate the ornamental value of trees, many countries use specific parametric methods, which however are based on a subjective choice of parameters and assignment of respective weights. Aim of the paper is the overcoming of the above limits through the implementation of a different methodological path based on Choice Experiments. It allows the anchoring of the ornamental value to the utility that the community derives from the enjoyment of aesthetic, architectural, historical and cultural externalities of trees.

In the traditional methodology the two main approaches to estimate the market value are the synthetic procedure and the analytic procedure, that correspond respectively to the market comparison approach and to the method for direct capitalization, according to the valuation standards. In professional practice, the two procedures are often used to confirm the final result of he appraisal or to verify the results of one with the other. However the main purpose of using the two procedures independently in the estimate of the market value is to incorporate more data and market information and to work with a broader range of methodological tools.

The model for developing Management Plans for UNESCO World Heritage Sites drawn up by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities in 2005 is no longer wholly adequate in terms of promoting heritage resources and their local contexts. The article considers the innovation developed in the IT/ICT field and provides theoretical and methodological considerations, based on which a new methodology for devising Management Plans could be developed. A Geographic Information System (GIS) for the knowledge and management of the site “Ivrea, industrial city of the 20th century”, is proposed as an innovative, dynamic, interoperable model that can both support urban-scale projects to capture the economic value of cultural heritage and promote forms of indirect enjoyment of the site.

Membership contracts are excluded from the agrarian pre-emption regulation. In order to abuse of this exemption, some entrepreneurs build complex corporate negotiations. Moving from two recent sentences of the Italian Supreme Court, the paper investigates the reasons that justify the legislator’s choice, isolates some instruments for deciphering abusive conducts and selects the most effective remedy to protect the excluded pre-emptioner.

The consumption of water kiosk has been increasing in Italy. Nevertheless, only a few studies have analyzed this phenomenon and users’ behavior and preferences. The aim of this study is to fulfill this gap analysing the preferences of consumers toward water from water kiosks in Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The data collected were analyzed firstly by means of a multinomial logit model, secondly we applied a latent class model. The findings show consumers’ concerns regarding the presence of potentially harmful chemical substances and put in evidence the opportunities in utilizing an environmental certification.
