Four patients with localized plaque psoriasis had used various systemic drugs along with topical cream. However, their skin lesions recurred, and the disease was refractory. After 2 weeks of discontinuation of oral and external medication, they were given three consecutive irradiation treatments with intense pulsed light once every 2 weeks for a 6-week period. After treating for 6 weeks, the erythema colors of the patients were evidently darkened, the scales were evidently reduced, and the skin lesions were significantly thinner or even flattened. The treatment was satisfactory, without occurrence of severe adverse reactions.

It is possible to damage the natural intestinal barrier following severe burn injuries. Oral probiotics' positive effects on the innate immune system or intestinal epithelial layer are proven. This research aimed to evaluate the role of probiotics on plasma inflammatory changes and bacterial colonization in the burned wound after high-grade thermal trauma. This double-blinded randomized controlled trial was conducted on 80 patients with a total body surface area of 20–70%. Patients were allocated to two groups based on four blocks randomization model. Intervention and control groups received daily LactoCare and placebo capsules for 14 consecutive days. Obtaining demographic data, burn and gastrointestinal symptoms were registered by filling out a questionnaire. Additionally, measuring plasma levels of highly sensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP), IgA, absolute neutrophilic, and lymphocytic count were performed cumulatively four times prior to and after the intervention. Considering eligible data, following the study period analysis showed significant mitigation of inflammatory status in probiotic receivers. The hs-CRP reduced following probiotic (21.38 ± 44.45) consumption compared with placebo (−36.36 ± 79.03) intake ( p < 0.001). Also, the plasma level of IgA significantly decreased in the intervention group (0.88 ± 0.65) than in the control group (0.79 ± 0.18) ( p < 0.001). Wound cultures showed no significant difference between groups, although the incidence rate of bacterial colonization was slightly lower after using probiotics ( p = 0.159). Regarding wound healing, data illustrated that probiotics could accelerate wound healing after 14 days of regular consumption ( p < 0.001). Probiotics have advantages for the mitigation of inflammation and wound healing following severe thermal burn injuries. Trends toward Improvement Immune system by increasing IgA level and lymphocytic count and possible Reduction of wound area with exogenous probiotic administration in patients with burns suggest that further investigation in larger sample size is necessary to corroborate our initial, promising findings.

Since May 2022, monkeypox has been gradually spreading across countries. In past reports and treatment consensus, monkeypox is most widely known for its characteristic skin lesions, which are hard, spherical rashes that appear as herpes and pustules and are widely distributed centrifugally over all parts of the body. Prior to the appearance of the rash, carriers of monkeypox are likely to spread the virus to more susceptible people. Attention to the early atypical mucosal manifestations of monkeypox allows for early identification of potential cases of monkeypox, thereby controlling the further spread of the epidemic.

Crush syndrome (CS) is characterized by a systemic manifestation of traumatic rhabdomyolysis, leading to multiple organ dysfunction and death. Ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury is commonly responsible for systemic response. Extending studies have shown that hydrogen gas treatment ameliorated IR injury in numerous experimental models; however, its effect on CS has not been well examined. This study aimed to investigate the effects of hydrogen gas inhalation following crush injury in an experimental model of CS. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to experimental CS by applying a total of 3.0 kg weight to both hindlimb under general anesthesia for 6 h. Immediately after decompression, the animals were randomly placed in a gas chamber filled with either air or 1.3% hydrogen gas. Animals were sacrificed 18 h or 24 h following gas exposure for non-survival studies or for survival study, respectively. The rats with hydrogen treatment ( n = 6) had a higher 24-h survival than the rats with air treatment ( n = 9) (100% vs. 44%, p = 0.035). Lactate concentrations (2.9 ± 0.2 vs. 2.2 ± 0.2 mmol/L, p = 0.040) and creatine kinase (34,178 ± 13,580 vs. 5005 ± 842 IU/L, p = 0.016) were lower in the hydrogen group compared with the air group 18 h after decompression ( n = 4 in the air group, and n = 5 in the H2 group). Histological analysis revealed that the damage to the rectus femoris muscle and kidney appeared to be ameliorated by hydrogen treatment. Hydrogen gas inhalation may be a promising therapeutic approach in the treatment of CS.

This study aimed to investigate clinical significance of Th1, Th2, Th17 and Tregs proportions in predicting and evaluating UC. A total of 101 UC patients diagnosed by the Department of Gastroenterology of the Shanxi Provincial People’s Hospital were recruited. This is a retrospective study. The proportions of Th1, Th2, Th17 and Tregs in the peripheral blood were detected by flow cytometry. The proportions of Th1, Th2 and Th17 cell in UC patients were higher than healthy controls ( p < 0.001); The area under the curve (AUC) values of Th1, Th1/Treg and Th17/Treg were all >0.900 in predicting UC ( p < 0.001), with the cut off values being 15.25%, 4.885 and 0.425, respectively. In addition, Th1, Th17, Treg, Th17/Treg, Th2/Treg, Th1/Treg and Th17/Treg were statistically significant among the mild to severe group ( p < 0.05). The percentage of Treg cells was negatively correlated with Mayo Score, while the percentages of Th17 cell, Th17/Treg, Th1/Treg, Th2/Treg were positively correlated with Mayo score ( p < 0.05). Notably, Th17/Treg was closely related to Mayo score (r = 0.513, p < 0.001). The dysregulation of Th1, Th2, Th17 and Tregs is a significant phenomena of immune disorder in UC, and these auxiliary indicators correlate with increased disease severity. The analysis of Th1, Th2, Th17 and Tregs possesses certain clinical significance in the prediction and evaluation of UC.

Background: Recent evidence has emerged regarding the modification of the relationship between the enhancer RNA (eRNA) colorectal neoplasia differentially expressed (CRNDE) and the prognosis of patients with cancer. Nevertheless, the role of CRNDE in pan-cancer and tumour immune microenvironment (TIME) remains largely unexplored. Methods: Multiple bioinformatic methods were employed to unravel the role of elncRNA CRNDE in a wide range of cancers from the perspective of the expression patterns, prognosis, tumour immunity, and the association between CRNDE and its target gene IRX5 based on the public database. A nomogram was created by integrating independent factors. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was used to determine the potential signalling pathway mechanisms. Molecular biology experiments including RT-qPCR, MTT, Transwell, and wound-healing analyses were performed to evaluate the proliferation, migration, and invasion of glioma cells. Finally, RT-qPCR and immunohistochemistry were performed to analyse the expression and function of CRNDE in gliomas of different grades. Nissl staining was used to evaluate the potential effects of CRNDE knockdown in glioblastoma tissues. Results: CRNDE was dysregulated and associated with clinical features in 15 of the 33 cancer types. The survival analysis showed that high CRNDE expression might lead to a worsened prognosis among the six cancer types. CRNDE might be involved in immune regulation in multiple cancer types. CRNDE correlated with multiple tumours and immune-related pathways. Additionally, CRNDE knockdown inhibited glioma cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Nissl staining confirmed that CRNDE siRNA notably decreased tumour growth. A stronger correlation between immune cells and CRNDE/IRX5 in lower-grade glioma than in glioblastoma multiforme tissues, and an association with IRX5 and immune checkpoint gene NRP1 were observed. Conclusions: An Enhancer RNA CRNDE may serve as a biomarker for cancer immunologic infiltration and poor prognosis, providing a new approach for cancer treatment.

Vitamin D is important to mediate several brain processes such as proliferation, apoptosis, and neurotransmission in early stages of life. Vitamin D deficiency during critical periods of development can lead to persistent brain alterations. Vitamin D homeostasis during pregnancy is affected by two factors which includes an increase in mother’s calcitriol levels and an increase in mother’s Vitamin D Binding protein concentrations. Attention deficient hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is an outcome of a complicated interaction between genetic, environmental, and developmental traits, and genetic factors cover about 80% of the cases. The efficiency of the immune system can be altered by a deficiency of Vitamin D in maternal body and maternal stress during gestation such as perinatal depression. Studies have proved that during gestation if there is a deficiency of vitamin D in maternal body, it can influence the brain development of the fetus and can also alter the synthesis of the brain-derived neurotropic factor. The current manuscript has been compiled to elaborate different factors which are associated with ADHD particularly focusing on the relationship of vitamin D deficiency in mothers. References material was selected from NCBI (PUBMED), Science direct, Google scholar, Publons etc. Using the terms ADHD, Vitamin D and Maternal nutritional status. Although, controversial relationship was found between the deficiency of Vitamin D level in pregnant women and development of ADHD in children but more controlled trials are required for future direction as well as to rule out other associated causes.

Vitamin D deficiency during critical periods of development can lead to persistent brain alterations. Vitamin D homeostasis during pregnancy is affected by two factors which includes an increase in mother’s calcitriol levels and an increase in mother’s Vitamin D Binding protein concentrations. Attention deficient hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is an outcome of a complicated interaction between genetic, environmental, and developmental traits, and genetic factors cover about 80% of the cases. The efficiency of the immune system can be altered by a deficiency of Vitamin D in maternal body and maternal stress during gestation such as perinatal depression. Studies have proved that during gestation if there is a deficiency of vitamin D in maternal body, it can influence the brain development of the fetus and can also alter the synthesis of the brain-derived neurotropic factor. The current manuscript has been compiled to elaborate different factors which are associated with ADHD particularly focusing on the relationship of vitamin D deficiency in mothers. References material was selected from NCBI (PUBMED), Science direct, Google scholar, Publons etc. Using the terms ADHD, Vitamin D and Maternal nutritional status. Although, controversial relationship was found between the deficiency of Vitamin D level in pregnant women and development of ADHD in children but more controlled trials are required for future direction as well as to rule out other associated causes.","PeriodicalId":55162,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Inflammation","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43141406","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
