This study identified the critical thinking skills of Guidance and Counseling students. The analysis of this capability was illustrated in the scalogram resulted from the RASCH model analysis. The respondents were Guidance and Counseling students at a public University, in Bandung, Indonesia. The data obtained was used as a pilot study in measuring the critical thinking skill test constructed by the author. The results showed that the students' critical thinking skills were in the low category, with a percentage of 44%. The scalogram picture showed that there were three students who gave inconsistent patterns for several questions which showed that the result was still valid. The result of this study could be a reference for giving group counseling to some students who had inconsistent response patterns. In conclusion, counseling with a cognitive approach needed to be held in improving the critical thinking skills of Guidance and Counseling students who had low levels of critical thinking skill as a follow-up to this research. The implication of this study was that the research data could be used as a reference in the preparation of the guidance and counseling service program related to critical thinking skills.

This study investigated the influence of the phases of identity development as identified by the Optimal Theory Applied to Identity Development (OTAID) framework on multicultural counselling competencies among the counsellor trainees in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. This proposed research utilized correlational research design. 93 counsellor trainees were recruited for data collection by using purposive sampling. Three instruments were implemented in this study, which are Self-Identity Inventory (SII), Multicultural Awareness/ Knowledge/ Skills Survey (MAKSS), and Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale- Short (MCSDS-S). SII was used to measure the phases of identity development, which are Individuation, Dissonance, Immersion, Internalization, Integration, and Transformation. MAKSS was utilized to measure self-perceived multicultural counselling competencies from 3 dimensions, which are Multicultural Awareness, Multicultural Knowledge, and Multicultural Skills. While MCSDS-S was used as measure for social desirability. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson Coefficient Correlation and Multiple Regression. The findings revealed that there is no relationship between identity development and multicultural counselling competencies. Likewise, no significant influence was found between identity development and multicultural counselling competencies. Among the six phases of identity development, the phase of Integration was a sole predictor of counsellor trainee’s perceived Multicultural Awareness and Multicultural Knowledge. Integration is positively correlated with Multicultural Awareness, with r(93)=0.25, p=0.02. Integration is also positively correlated with Multicultural Knowledge, with r(93)=0.25, p=0.02. Moreover, Integration predicted 6% of Multicultural Awareness, with F(1.92)=6.04, R2 =0.06, p<0.05. Integration also predicted 6% of Multicultural Knowledge, with F(1.92)=6.19, R2=0.06, p<0.05. While Multicultural Skills did not predict by any phase of identity development, for no significant influence of identity development was found on Multicultural Skills. The researcher suggested that training and supervision that involve immersion with people from diverse background to be considered in promoting multicultural counselling competencies of counsellor trainees. Further studies are encouraged to explore the significant factors that contribute to multicultural counselling competencies.

Adolescence often known as a transition period from childhood to adulthood. In this phase, adolescents may experience many changes in their identity toward multiple life domains, including religious domain. There have been extensive studies on religious identity in late adolescence, yet only few have discussed the role of significant persons to develop religious identity. This study aimed to investigate the role of parent-adolescent interactional styles to religious identity status in late adolescence. There were 134 undergraduate students of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta participated in this study. Data were collected using the Religious Identity Status Scale and Parenting Style Scale and analyzed through descriptive statistic, Pearson's correlation, chip-square, and Contingency Coefficient test. Descriptive analysis showed that all participants have been enabling parent-adolescent interactional style, and 22% participants have achievement religious identity status while 78% others were in searching moratorium status. Contingency Coefficient analysis indicated an adequate strong relationship between parent-adolescent interactional style and adolescent religious identity status.

Childhood trauma is a risk factor that influences the development of psychotic symptoms. Negative-self-schema is a psychological response to trauma, which is known to have impact on psychotic symptoms’ level, thus postulated as the underlying mechanism linking childhood trauma and psychotic symptoms together. This research used descriptive and correlational type of research. This study examined whether negative-self-schema mediates childhood trauma and psychotic symptoms, while controlling depressive symptoms as covariates. The study recruited 397 participants from community sample of Indonesians (25.4% male; Mage = 22.28, SD = 4.93) and was conducted through online survey. Through mediation analyses, results showed that negativeself-schema significantly mediated the relationship between childhood trauma and both positive (ab = 0.08; SE = 0.04; 95% CI [0.01, 0.17]), and negative (ab = 0.08; SE = 0.03; 95% CI [0.03, 0.14]) symptoms of psychosis. This explains the importance of considering schemas’ role in translating the effect of childhood trauma to psychotic symptoms.
