ABSTRACT This article analyzes the ICT-related behavior of the five ‘system-relevant’ Greek banks in the first years 2010–2014 of the Greek economic crisis. We conclude that besides the standard immediate reaction to the crisis by reducing ICT-related expenses, the Greek banks in a later phase of the economic crisis proceeded to a substantial rationalization of their ICT processes/practices and improvement of their ICT capabilities, as well as the adaptation of their ICT plans to the crisis conditions.

ABSTRACT Even though the effects of mobile phone and internet usage on the health and wellbeing of a population are becoming apparent, few studies have uncovered the nature of this relationship to the equitable provision of healthcare. The contribution is in discovering the relationships between mobility effects and human development where inequities in income play an important role, the relationships to socio-economic development and in showing how the mobility effect can assist in addressing health inequities.

ABSTRACT In this article, we introduce a blockchain governance framework that defines the governance of a blockchain as a combination of six dimensions and three layers. An evaluation through eight expert interviews confirms the perceived usefulness and operational feasibility of the presented framework. Furthermore, the framework, is demonstrated by an application in two case studies. The introduced blockchain governance framework establishes a shared understanding and discussion surrounding the topic of blockchain governance.

The multidimensional purposes of grid-tied hybrid renewable system such as tracking of maximum power, increasing the power conversion efficiency, reducing the harmonic distortions in the injected current and control over power injected into the grid are presented in this paper by developing a laboratory-scale setup. To ensure continuous current operation at the shoot through mode of grid connected inverter, a switched Z-source converter is utilized at the PV side. The PWM rectifier connected with the wind turbine transforms AC power into dc. Individual power converters with conventional PI controllers have been dedicated for each power source, and control strategy uses only one reference voltage so as to increase the maximum power tracking speed from both PV and wind sources. The battery energy management is performed by artificial neural network (ANN) to enhance the stable power flow and increase the lifespan of the storage system. Finally, the voltage at the point of common coupling is fed to ANN-based space vector-modulated three-phase inverter and the converted AC power is injected to the grid. The overall system performance is measured by estimating the quality of injected power. A stable operation of the proposed microgrid system is verified by varying input and load at the grid. A continuous-time simulation model is realized in MATLAB and is validated using experimental prototype. This benchmark system provides various research scopes for the future smart grids.

The advent of new music technologies has led to a rapid growth of the audio preservation field. Music is not independent of its medium, and this growing loss of independence calls for a transdisciplinary approach with a strong technological component. Musical compositions created in the second half of the twentieth century exist in the intersection of technology, embodiment, and sound and thus widen the importance of aspects such as human and non-human interactions. This article will reflect on these issues and how they reframe (digital) philology methods through the works of Constança Capdeville. The works by this seminal artist are accompanied by an extensive archive that includes scores, recorded sounds, video and images, among other documents. It will be demonstrated how a reflexive approach to digital philology can bring concealed archival stories to light while fostering new meanings on what it means to preserve our sound heritage. Resource optimisation is one of the reasons methods of traditional philology are particularly useful for the preservation of contemporary musical heritage. Today the amount of information is excessive, and categorisation and organisation are complex. Most information exists in the form of digitised documents, that comply with certain requirements traditionally applied to secular paper registers while assessing qualities such as reliability and authenticity. Traditional philology approaches framed around these qualities are insufficient for born-digital documents. A reflexive approach to digital philology, focussed both on the creation of digital resources (from digitalisation to cataloguing) and the criticism of digital sources, as a solution the digital treatment of documents is proposed. A comparative approach will be used to understand in what ways digital and analogue media intertwine in the forms we think, reflect, historicise, and preserve our sound archives, and how we make visible aspects that were previously concealed through new forms of categorising and digitising documents.
