: Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is associated with abnormal features in both emotion processing and social intention inference. However, there is a lack of research and clinical predictive models for the common mechanisms of emotion processing and social intention inference underlying social anxiety. The current project aims to use a combination of behavioral experiments, functional magnetic resonance imaging, and computational modeling to systematically examine the mechanisms of negative cognitive biases in SAD. Based on classic biological motion paradigms targeting emotion processing and social intention inference, combining the facial expressions, we aim to establish predictive models of SAD clinical symptoms based on multi-dimensional data. This project has the prospect of revealing the psychopathology underlying SAD, examining the association between behavioral and neuroimaging data underlying mental disorders, and promoting objective classification and prediction of mental disorders.

: How semantics are represented in human brain is a central issue in cognitive neuroscience. Previous studies typically address this issue by artificially manipulating the properties of stimuli or task demands. Having brought valuable insights into the neurobiology of language, this psychological experimental approach may still fail to characterize semantic information with high resolution, and have difficulty quantifying context information and high-level concepts. The recently-developed natural language processing (NLP) techniques provide tools to represent the discrete semantics in the form of vectors, enabling automatic extraction of word semantics and even the information of context and syntax. Recent studies have applied NLP techniques to model the semantic of stimuli, and mapped the semantic vectors onto brain activities through representational similarity analyses or linear regression. A consistent finding is that the semantic information is represented by a vastly distributed network across the frontal, temporal and occipital cortices. Future studies may adopt multi-modal neural networks and knowledge graphs to extract richer information of semantics, apply NLP models to automatically assess the language ability of special groups, and improve the interpretability of deep neural network models with neurocognitive findings.

: Individuals, enterprises and countries need to make decisions involving different time nodes in real life. Such decisions are commonly measured by "intertemporal preference" in the field of behavioral decision-making. Actually, the most important and crucial kind of intertemporal decision making relevant to survival and development are intertemporal choice with double-dated mix outcomes. However, existing intertemporal preferences measure by paradigms with pure gain outcomes was found to be poor predictors of far-sighted behavior in real life. Besides, mature theoretical models of intertemporal choice could not satisfactorily explain people's real intertemporal preferences. To better describe and explain people's intertemporal preferences with double-dated mixed outcomes, the present project intends to: 1) synthesize indicators of intertemporal choice with double-dated mixed outcomes by using two different logics, providing predictive indicators for model comparison; 2) develop a new ecological paradigm of measuring intertemporal choice with double-dated outcomes, aiming to provide a more ecological and predictive measurement for the development of following research; 3) adopt the Mouselab and eye-tracking technique to test which model could more satisfactorily explain intertemporal preference with double-dated outcomes, the utility comparison model or the attribute-comparison model.

: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a persistent neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity, which is closely related to the executive function deficits resulting from the dysplastic of prefrontal cortex. Based on the neuro-cognitive-behavioral developmental path, it is proposed that executive function deficits may be the pathogenesis of the core symptoms of ADHD at the cognitive level, among which the "cool" one related with the dorsal prefrontal cortex might be the dominant factor affecting inattention, and the “hot” one linked to the ventromedial prefrontal cortex could play the main role in the manifestation of hyperactivity-impulsivity. On the one hand, deficits in "cool" executive function mainly result in failures in working memory representation, lack of inhibitory control, and difficulties in cognitive flexibility, and further lead to limitations in attention maintenance, selection, and switching. On the other hand, deficits in "hot" executive function bring problems like delay aversion, reward abnormality and motivation disorders, which make one fail to inhibit behavior and more likely to make impulsive decisions, thereby displaying more symptoms of hyperactivity-impulsivity. Future studies are expected to examine and improve theoretical models of “hot” and “cold” executive function deficits affecting the core symptoms of ADHD, and provide more empirical evidence at the cognitive neural level. Meanwhile, future studies need to examine the mechanism mentioned above in ecological backgrounds, and further develop intervention projects with personalization, precision and long-acting to alleviate the core symptoms of ADHD based on executive function.

: High-performing individuals within organizations frequently elicit envy due to their exceptional performance. Such envy can elicit a range of experiences in these individuals, both positive and negative, which can in turn exert divergent effects on job performance and interpersonal dynamics. The existing body of literature lacks a robust, nuanced, and comprehensive examination and interpretation of these disparate research outcomes. Utilizing the dual perspective model of agency and communion, this study investigates the distinct effects of envy on self-perception, self-experience, and self-regulation. Moreover, it underscores the relative significance of agency and communion in discerning the applicable boundary conditions. By offering an exhaustive depiction of the experience of being envied, this research enhances our understanding of envy's overarching impact. Furthermore, it provides invaluable insights for future studies and affords organizations pragmatic interventions to manage the issue of envy towards their high-performing employees.
