: Role reversal is one of the core techniques of psychodrama therapy. According to Jacob Levy Moreno, the founder of psychodrama, the self emerges from the role that we play. On the basis of Morenian role theory, rich clinical experience has been accumulated in contemporary psychodrama therapy, but it lacks an explanatory theory to comprehensively explain the working mechanism of psychodrama therapy. Starting from the analysis of role reversal experience, predictive processing theory explains interpersonal interaction and role construction in the process of role reversal. According to predictive processing theory, role reversal is a kind of self-construction process. From a single role reversal treatment to different aspects in the process of psychotherapy, this self-construction process is as follows. First, role reversal brings about the change of the signal type. Second, role reversal results in model update. Third, the new model is constructed and generated in the interaction between the individual self and the other. The conclusion turns out that explaining the structural features of role reversal according to predictive processing theory can promote this technology so as to play a better role in clinical treatment.

Two sides of testing: The influence of interim tests on the misinformation effect and its mechanism

: The effect of an interim test on the misinformation effect has been found to have two distinct results. “Retrieval enhanced suggestibility” (RES) refers to the observation that participants who received an interim test were less likely to respond correctly on the final memory test and more likely to report misinformation. “Protective effect of testing” (PET) refers to the observation that an interim test weakened the misinformation effect and improved participants’ memory performance. A systematic review of existing studies shows that these two phenomena can be explained by the reconsolidation account, the attention capture hypothesis, and the retrieval fluency hypothesis (for RES), or by the memory strength theory, the retrieval effort theory, and the discrepancy detection theory (for PET). These related theories differ in both the stage of action and the perspective of explanation, and are integrated into a new theoretical model. In addition, there are some potential influences on the separation of RES and PET, including the original information material, the type of interim test, and the characteristics of the misinformation. Future research should begin with the testing of this theoretical model and expand it in appropriate directions.

Do high performance work systems impair employee well-being? Evidence from a meta-analysis

: This paper aims to examine the relationship between high-performance work systems and employee well-being and to test the moderating effect of cultural and industry differences on the relationship by conducting a meta-analysis based on data from 55 independent studies in 53 research papers with a total study sample size of 51,750. The results indicate that: ( 1 ) . A high performance work system has significant positive effect on all dimensions of employee well-being. i.e., a "consistent effect" rather than a "contradictory effect". ( 2 ) . Cultural contexts moderated the relationship between high-performance work systems and employee well-being. The positive association between employees' perceived high-performing work systems and subjective well-being, psychological well-being, and health well-being in the high power distance and collectivist cultural context was significantly stronger than that of employees with low power distance and individualistic tendencies. ( 3 ) . The industry in which the employees serve has a significant moderating effect on the relationship between perceived high-performing work systems and employee well-being. The positive association between high-performing work systems and subjective well-being was stronger for employees in the health care service industry than in the production service industry; however, the positive association between perceived high-performing work systems and health well-being was lower for employees in the health care service industry than in the production service industry. The findings suggest that the academic community should re-understand and examine the value of high-performance work systems.
