Open-path laser-induced plasma spectrometry for long-range elemental analysis 开路激光诱导等离子体光谱法用于远距离元素分析

In this paper, open-path laser-induced plasma spectrometry (OP-LIPS) has been investigated for remote elemental analysis of solids up to several tens meters range. We outline the feasibility of this approach and take a first step toward the investigation of its potential. The pulsed radiation of a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser at 1064 nm has been used to induce a plasma on the sample and the emission has been collected under an open path scheme. The system performance for both identification purposes and for semiquantitative analysis will be discussed.

Generation of higher harmonics with high average output power is necessary for numerous applications in industry and science. Particularly pulsed driven solid state lasers based on neodymium doped active media are powerful sources for highly efficient frequency conversation. In this paper, SHG in a MOPA system with fiber phase conjugate mirror is demonstrated. An average output power of 124 W is achieved at 540 nm.

In this paper, we have demonstrated fibre coupled-diode pumping operation of a six QW GaInNAs/GaAs VCSEL showing performance of up to 4.1 mW output coupled into a single-mode fibre at 10/spl deg/C at 1290.7 nm. Laser emission was observed up to a temperature of 95/spl deg/C, and the temperature shift is 0.1 nm/K. The VSCEL structure was grown by solid-source MBE using a nitrogen plasma.

High-peak-power subnanosecond diode-pumped passively Q-switched microchip laser 峰值功率亚纳秒二极管抽运被动调q微芯片激光器

Diode-pumped passively Q-switched solid-state laser with extremely short high-peak-power pulses are of potential interest for numerous applications. In this paper we present a resonator that is formed by a coated c-cut Nd:GdVO/sub 4/ or Nd:YVO/sub 4/ crystal and a coated Cr/sup 4+/:YAG crystal. The studies of the present performance indicate that c-cut Nd:GdVO/sub 4/ and Nd:YVO/sub 4/ crystal are very convenient material for short pulse (sub-nanosecond) and high-peak power lasers. It is demonstrated that at 2 W pump power, 17.8 nJ pulses of 0.85 ns duration at a pulse repetition rate of 13 kHz can be generated in the c-cut Nd:GdVO/sub 4/ and 18 nJ pulses of 0.85 ns duration at a pulse repetition rate of 13.5 kHz at 2.4 W pump power in the c-cut Nd:YVO/sub 4/.

Irreversible modification of transparent dielectrics without plasma formation under femtosecond pulses 飞秒脉冲下不形成等离子体的透明介质的不可逆修饰

The goal of the present research was a study of the accumulation effect in transparent glasses and crystals under multishot irradiation by femtosecond pulses. The laser damage durability of optical components is important in the case of femtosecond pulses because of their wide application with high repetition rates for material treatments. It is concluded that, we have found existence of "cold" damage before plasma formation is reached.

In this paper, we show that spontaneous emission at input signal /spl sim/0.1-1 W/cm/sup 2/ does not lead to self-excitation of amplifiers whereas parasitic reflections of laser radiation can be very dangerous. The laser beam brightness and high phase conjugated quality in the focussed beam depends on coefficient R of parasitic diffuse reflections from amplifiers windows and selector lenses. The effective operation of laser facility occurs at R/spl ges/10/sup -7/.

The Auger recombination in 1.3/spl mu/m InAs/GalnAs quantum dot lasers were investigated. To analyse the experimental results, theoretical model was used which includes strain, piezoelectric field and electronic structure calculated in the QDs of truncated pyramid shape. It was found that the radiative current increases with pressure, but the Auger recombination current decreases with pressure and is the dominant recombination path at room temperature in 1.3/spl mu/m QD lasers.

Stimulated emission depletion with sub-ns pulses 亚毫微米脉冲的受激辐射损耗

We have designed a new stimulated emission depletion microscope that applies longer STED pulses (>100 ps) than commonly used (5-10 ps). It is found that longer pulses have a positive effect on photostability of the fluorescent molecules. Utilizing ultrafast shutters, the recovery of the fluorescence signal after shutting the STED beam off was determined on timescales between 100 ns and 10 ms. We examined a number of dyes that could be used in biological applications, e.g. to measure changes in pH.

Nonlinear photonic crystals 非线性光子晶体

In this paper, we describe a theoretical approach by which we can qualitatively and quantitatively determine the nonlinear optical properties of a photonic crystals. We start by accurately characterizing the linear properties of the structure, using a recently developed multigrid method to efficiently compute the photonic bandstructure and Bloch functions of the PC. This results in a generalization of the slowly varying envelope approximation to the case of nonlinear PCs.
