Enhancement of resolution in electromagnetic imaging of lossy dielectric objects using a slab of left-handed material 利用左旋材料板增强有耗介质物体电磁成像的分辨率

In this paper, we make use of the special physical characteristics of novel artificial left-handed materials (LHM) to realize the super resolution. One of the most attractive features of LHM is the amplification of evanescent waves. Using such a feature, it has been shown that strong surface waves can be excited near the boundaries of LHM slab with small loss. We investigate the possibility to enhance the resolution of dielectric objects using the LHM slab. The Born approximation has been used to solve the linearized inverse scattering problem. Numerical simulations show that better resolution can be achieved when the LHM slab is involved than those without the LHM slab. The study has demonstrated that the amplification of evanescent waves in the measurement data and inversion algorithm is the main reason for the super resolution

Design of a novel AMC with little sensitivity to the angle of incidence and very compact size 一种新型的对入射角不敏感且体积非常小的AMC的设计

In this work, a basic cell shape (FSS shape) is first extracted from a 2D AMC structure designed by genetic algorithm (GA). The extracted FSS is a series-resonant grid (SRG) described analytically in C.R. Simovski et al., (2005). By applying the available analytical idea of C.R. Simovski et al. (2005), doing some parametric studies and using some innovation, a novel AMC with stable properties is obtained for wide range of incidence angles and with very compact size. During the process, one must be careful that the AMC bandwidth (BW) should not stray very much from acceptable limits. The FSS of the finalized AMC structure is a novel SRG that can be considered as a modified version of the well-known Jerusalem Cross (JC-FSS). For analysis of the structures, the Ansoff's Designer (AD) software, which is an electromagnetic solver based on the method of moments (MoM), is used

On the Efficiency of Particle Swarm Optimizer when Applied to Antenna Optimization 粒子群优化算法在天线优化中的应用效率研究

This paper presents the results for three different antenna optimization problems that are found using the particle swarm optimizer (PSO). The outcomes found with PSO are compared to the outcomes found with other optimization algorithms to estimate the efficiency of PSO. The first problem is finding the optimal position of the feeding probe in a radiating rectangular waveguide. The second problem is finding the maximal forward gain of a Yagi antenna. The third problem is finding the optimal feeding of a broadside antenna array. The optimization problems have 2, 6, and 20 optimization variables respectively

In this work, an LNA module is moved into a corner-truncated patch antenna, which is intended for GPS reception use. A cavity is formed within the substrate of the patch to accommodate the LNA module. The built-in LNA enhances the antenna reception capability without adding external circuits. Hence, the resulting patch has the same footprint and thickness as ordinary passive patches. Simulations and measurements on prototype antenna indicate that the built-in LNA module imposes limiting influences on the antenna properties, which can be corrected by rescaling the patch, and is hence an attractive option for making small antennas with large gains

In this paper, a wideband dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) sensor with small ground plane is designed for microwave breast cancer detection. A coaxial probe excites a two-steps stair shaped DRA. To reduce the backward leakage with the small ground plane size a quarter wavelength choke is added to the back of the ground plane. The impedance bandwidth of 46% is achieved. The effect of attaching the sensor to the breast tissue is investigated when the sensor is directly attached to the breast tissue

This paper presents an empirical study of the bit-error-rate (BER) performance of a handset adaptive antenna array in a Rayleigh-fading channel with a cross-polarized signal generated using a variable cross-polarization power ratio (XPR) spatial fading emulator. We have investigated the BER characteristics of a handset adaptive antenna consisting of a 1/4-wavelength monopole antenna and a planar inversed-F antenna (PIFA) as a function of XPR. It can be concluded that the measured average BER of an adaptive antenna array with both theta and phi components has an excellent BER performance in a multipath propagation environment with a cross-polarized component

We have investigated the BER characteristics of a handset adaptive antenna consisting of a 1/4-wavelength monopole antenna and a planar inversed-F antenna (PIFA) as a function of XPR.
