We propose and demonstrate 5-Gb/s broadcast transmission in WDM-PON using cost-effective mutually injected F-P LDs. A transmission speed can be doubled by eliminating a fundamental noise peak by 28 dB with interferometric noise suppression technique.

We experimentally demonstrate a line encoding based pilot tone generation method and compare it to conventional schemes. The proposed method leaves intact the high speed signal quality and can be used with standard optical transceivers.

Integration of optical fiber and optoelectronic devices 光纤与光电器件的集成

The paper reports on pursing a different, potentially complementary vision of all-fiber optoelectronics in which light can be generated, modulated, and detected within the fiber itself. Fiber devices are in general valued for their robustness, simplicity, and ability to integrate seamlessly with existing fiber infrastructure. If the light never leaves the fiber, for example, difficulties associated with modal and impedance mismatches between fibers and planar semiconductor waveguides do not need to be overcome. Fiber lasers also integrate naturally with fibers, whereas using direct gap semiconductor lasers on chip remains an ongoing challenge. Semiconductor fiber fabrication and adding optoelectronic function to fibers are also discussed.

Additional quenching of Er, Yb, Nd, and Bi luminescence in hydrogen impregnated silica optical fibers is revealed. Phenomenon is explained by deactivation of activators' excited states via collisions with hydrogen molecules migrating inside the glass network.
