Our Annual Conference (known as EMBC) is a premier international conference in biomedical engineering, and has been strategically held in different locations around the world, for example, in Boston (USA), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Minneapolis (USA), Vancouver (Canada), Lyon (France), New York City (USA), and Shanghai (China) over the last 7 years.

In the method of epicardial potential imaging, the potential distribution on a closed surface bounding the heart is used as the electric generator of the potential field in the electrically passive medium outside the heart, giving rise to the potential field on the body surface. The inverse method involved estimates the full spatio-temporal character of this distribution. Being more proximal to the actual sources inside the myocardial tissue than the body surface potential field, this distribution facilitates the correct interpretation of the underlying electrophysiology. The second method, referred to by some as activation time imaging, uses an equivalent double layer on the heart surface, the delineation of which coincides with the boundary between depolarized cardiac tissue and tissue still at rest.

Simulation and evaluation of FES induced walking FES诱导步行的模拟与评价

A computennodel is developed for the simulation of FES induced walking. The equations of motion for a 8 segments model are derived and solved with the direct dynamics method, i.e. the input to the model are the joint moments or muscle forces and the output is the movement of the system. Constraint equations are used to reduce the set of system equations. A quasi-Newton optimization method is used to find the optimal combination of stimulated muscles and use of orthoses. The emphasis in this paper is on the development of the mathematical model.

The effect of fiber-electrode distance on single fiber action potentials 纤维-电极距离对单纤维动作电位的影响

The distance between active fibers and measuring electrodes as occuring during single fiber electromyomyography was assessed. SFAP amplitudes were calculated with a volume conduction model of skeletal muscle. Calculated SFAPs had smaller peak to peak voltages than the measured ones, the latter showed large spread. There is thus a discordance between experiment and theory in single fiber electromyography.
