Pattern discrimination software for neonatal cardiovascular risk estimation 模式识别软件用于新生儿心血管风险评估

Parametric characteristics obtained by least-squares fitting and descriptive statistics of within-a-day variability in blood pressure and heart rate for 150 neonates are here used for classification according to a cardiovascular risk score by the use of an all-subsets variable selection technique for discriminant analysis, specifically designed for biomedical applications. Results provide a set of classification criteria for further use in neonatal risk assessment.1

Ventricular wall stress mapping proves the dualistic organization of the myocardial structure 心室壁应力图证实了心肌结构的二元组织

Needle force probes have been developed for the direct assessment of stress in any measuring site in the free wall of the left ventricle. In 12 untrained dogs and 7 dogs 6–18 weeks after aortic banding forces were mapped in up to 20 sites and 7–12 layers from the epicardium to the endocardium. In the untrained hearts subepi- and subendocardial forces were almost identical with a minimum in the middle layers. Left ventricular hypertrophy induced a definite increase in local force development. Highest forces were measured subendocardially with an almost monotonous drop towards the epicardium. In the subendocardium, furthermore, there was a high incidence (30%) of tracings which showed an increment in force during systolic ventricular emptying. These unexpected results are partially explained by a subendocaridal accumulation of myocardial fibres which follow an oblique transmural fibre path instead of being strictly surface parallel orientated.

Measurement and analysis of pressure at various points on the sole of the foot during gait 测量和分析步态中脚底各点的压力

A system has been developed to measure the pressure at various points on the sole of the foot during gait. Pressure sensors have been incorporated in the footwear to indicate the pressure exerted by corresponding value of output voltage. This voltage is amplified to a TTL compatible value by the amplifier section. Data from the different sensors are then multiplexed and later digitized. Suitable software has been employed to process the data for normalisation and symbolic representation. Appropriate colour intensities are used to indicate different pressure distributions of the foot.

Classification of normal and widened QRS complexes in ambulatory ECG 动态心电图正常与增宽QRS复合体的分类

The adaption of an ECG pattern recognition method for biomedicai device control is presented. It is optimized by using medical experience at a high degree. The real time processing is performed by the continuous evaluation of the Walsh spectrum of overlapping ECG signal sections. Therewith QRS complexes are identified and widened complexes are seperated from normal ones. A specifity of 993 p. c. was yielded. We conclude that high expenditure in developing algorithms does pay if shape classification is required by physicians.

Analysis of chest CT images using Wigner distribution 基于Wigner分布的胸部CT图像分析

This paper addresses the generic issue of radiological image analysis using spectral methods. We present a new local spatial-frequency approach for analysis of chest CT images. The method is based on the use of two dimensional Wigner distribution allowing a precise tracking in space of frequential characteristics of an image. Performance of the method in both geometric structure and optic density difference detection is illustrated, and its potentially great application interest is demonstrated.

The wavelength dependence of the photoplethysmogram and its implication to pulse oximetry 光容积脉搏波的波长依赖性及其对脉搏血氧测定的意义

Pulse oximetry essentially uses photoplethysmography to calculate oxygen saturation. Consequently the wavelength dependence of the photoplethysmogram(PPG) is of direct relevance to the performance of pulse oximeters. This paper describes this dependence of the PPG signal in both "reflection" and "transmission" modes from 450 to 1000nm in studies on the fingertip. The results obtained show distinct differences between the two modes. This is of significance to the technique of pulse oximetry suggesting that perhaps other wavelengths should be considered for use, and that use of both "reflection" and "transmission" probes on the same oximeter may lead to inaccurate readings in one of the modes.

Real-time detection of EEG spikes using neural networks 利用神经网络实时检测脑电图峰值

A digital signal processor based microcomputer system is designed for real-time detection of EEG spikes. The system acquires 16 channel EEGs, displays them in 5 second epochs, detects EEG spikes, identifres them on the screen and stores their times of occurrence au in real-time. Spike detection is achieved by a two-level neural network system analyzing 100 msec of multichannel EEG in a sliding window. 1 n the first level, spikes are Ukntified in individual EEG channels by 16 identical neural network modules computed in the digital signal processor. In the second level, outputs of the first level modules are integrated by a second neural network module for thefinal detection. Results show that neural network based EEG spike detection systems can be implemented for real-time clinical operation using current digital signal processor technology.

Left ventricle modeling by discrete polar Fourier transform using echocardiographic images 利用超声心动图图像进行离散极性傅里叶变换左心室建模

The three-dimensional and real-time representation of the left ventricle of the heart from echocardiographic images requires extracting many boundaries of the ventricle over a very short time. In order to reduce the computing times, to obtain more reliable algorithms and also to provide easy ways to describe the three-dimensional shape of the ventricle, a modeling of the left ventricle by polar Fourier transform is proposed. This modeling leads to significant information compression and to an easy physical description of the different parameters of the model. Finally, a method for measuring the isotropy of the contractions of the myocardium is described.
