A channel sensing based design for LTE in unlicensed bands 一种基于信道感知的LTE免授权频段设计

With the exponential growth of wireless data traffic and the increasing scarcity of licensed spectrum, mobile network operators intend to use the unlicensed spectrum, such as the Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) bands and TV white space, to offload their traffic. In the future, it is very likely that two of the most prominent wireless technologies, Long Term Evolution (LTE) and WiFi, will coexist on the same unlicensed bands. Existing simulation results show that LTE is slightly impacted by such coexistence while WiFi is severely hampered by LTE transmissions. In order to realize a harmonious LTE/WiFi coexistence, we propose two channel sensing schemes for LTE in unlicensed bands, i.e., periodic sensing and persistent sensing. Simulation results show that the proposed channel sensing schemes can provide a reasonable tradeoff between LTE and WiFi when they coexist with each other.

CI/DS-CDMA scheme for autonomous underwater vehicle communication 自主水下航行器通信的CI/DS-CDMA方案

Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are deployed in search and rescue operations where it is difficult for divers to reach. During the operation a fleet of AUVs communicate among themselves and exchange two type of information. The first includes control signal which has a low-data rate but has a very stringent bit error rate (BER) requirement and the second being the data collected by the AUVs in the form of high resolution video, pictures and important sensor observations, which has a high-data rate but a little relaxed BER constraint. This paper proposes an efficient two-rate data transmission scheme for AUV communication using carrier interferometry (CI) coded direct sequence code-division multiple access (CI/DS-CDMA). The BER performance of the proposed scheme is compared with that of the conventional Walsh Hadamard (WH) coded DS-CDMA in underwater channel and is shown to ensure improved BER performance. For two-rate communication we assume a basic low-data rate (LDR) “R” and a high-data rate (HDR) as “2R” and we further presume that the acceptable BER of LDR is atleast an order of magnitude less than that of the HDR. Simulation results show that with CI/DS-CDMA scheme, the high-data rate communication achieves a BER of 3×10-4 at 20 dB whereas the low data rate communication reach a BER of 1.76×10-5 at 16 dB for a typical underwater channel. The results justify CI/DS-CDMA scheme as a deserving candidate for single rate as well as two-rate underwater acoustic communication.

Local and cooperative spectrum sensing via Kuiper's test 通过柯伊伯测试的局部和合作频谱传感

A novel Kuiper's test-based spectrum sensing approach in cognitive radio is proposed in this paper. The Kuiper-based detector is a computationally efficient spectrum sensing algorithm, which exploits the maximum positive and negative deviations between the empirical cumulative distribution function (cdf) of received samples and that of noise signals as the test statistic, and is insensitive to the model mismatch. The Kuiper-based detector is further considered in the cooperative detection, where an improved fusion rule is adopted. Simulation results validate that compared with the existing detectors, the Kuiper-based detector provides superior detection performance and robustness with low computational complexity.

Optimising OFDM based visible light communication for high throughput and reduced PAPR 优化基于OFDM的可见光通信,实现高吞吐量和降低PAPR

In order to circumvent the throughput limitation imposed on visible light communication (VLC) systems by the limited LED bandwidth, optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with non-uniform bit-loading is studied in this paper. By using lower order modulation on subcarriers that suffer the most distortion, we show that it is possible to establish a high throughput and reliable OFDM based VLC link at a sampling rate of six times the available system bandwidth. The high signal peak-to-average-power-ratio (PAPR) that accompanies the OFDM signal is however reduced by adopting the pilot symbol phase rotation technique previously proposed by the authors. With this, over 4 dB reduction in the electrical PAPR is attainable. This combined approach thus make it possible to achieve high throughput without incurring the high PAPR penalties.

Delay-aware energy-efficient communications over Nakagami-m fading channel with MMPP traffic 具有MMPP业务的Nakagami-m衰落信道的延迟感知节能通信

In this paper, we propose an energy efficient cross-layer design framework for transmitting Markov modulated Poisson process (MMPP) traffic over Nakagami-m fading channel with delay demands. The adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) is used at physical layer. We first investigate the stationary distribution of this system. With the stationary distribution and the AMC transmission mode, we derive the close-form expression of the delay and the energy efficiency. Then, we derive the energy efficient thresholds to choose the transmission mode. At last, we get the energy efficient transmission policy with delay constraint for given traffic. Numerical results are provided to support the theoretical development.

Impact of channel fading on mobility management in heterogeneous networks 信道衰落对异构网络移动管理的影响

Handover decisions and mobility management in modern communication networks are carried out using signal measurements taken at user equipment (UE), obtained from neighboring base stations. Therefore, time and frequency selective characteristics of the radio propagation channel can seriously degrade the handover performance. In this paper, we investigate the impact of channel fading on the handover failure performance in densely deployed heterogeneous networks. We introduce a simple geometric model to analyze handover failure as a function of key mobility management parameters. Relevant fading statistics are extracted from a 3GPP-compliant heterogeneous network simulator, and a semi-analytic approach is followed to obtain the handover failure performance of a mobile UE. Theoretical findings are verified through simulations, which show that when channel fading is considered, handover performance can be significantly degraded even at low mobile velocities.

Analysis of interference between terrestrial and satellite systems in the Band 17.7 to 19.7 GHz 17.7 ~ 19.7 GHz频段地面与卫星系统的干扰分析

Broadband access by satellite in the Ka-band is currently constrained by spectrum availability. Very high throughput satellite systems are being proposed that operate in the Ka-band spectrum that is allocated to both Fixed Satellite Services (FSS) and Fixed Services (FS). This paper addresses a database approach to exploiting the dual use of the band 17.7 to 19.7 GHz. Interference from the FS has been analysed using real data bases and appropriate propagation models. Database statistics for several European Union (EU) countries were also evaluated. The importance of using accurate terrain profiles and accurate propagation models are discussed and some results shown.

A novel bit and power loading algorithm for narrowband indoor powerline communications 窄带室内电力线通信的一种新的比特和功率加载算法

The problem of bit and power loading for bit rate maximization in OFDM data communications over indoor powerline channels is investigated and a simple method for bit/power allocation in a single cycle of the mains is developed. The proposed solution is based on the so called Zadeh's representation for modelling the linear periodically time-varying behavior of powerline channels. Numerical results show the superiority of the proposed method over other solutions available in the technical literature in a real world scenario.

Tracking and positioning using phase information from estimated multi-path components 利用估计的多路径分量的相位信息进行跟踪和定位

High resolution radio based positioning and tracking is a key enabler for new or improved cellular services. In this work, we are aiming to track user movements with accuracy down to centimeters using standard cellular bandwidths of 20-40 MHz. The goal is achieved by using phase information from the multi-path components (MPCs) of the radio channels. First, an extended Kalman filter (EKF) is used to estimate and track the phase information of the MPCs. Each of the tracked MPCs can be seen as originating from a virtual transmitter at an unknown position. By using a time difference of arrival (TDOA) positioning algorithm based on a structure-of-motion approach and translating the tracked phase information into propagation distances, the user movements can be estimated with a standard deviation of the error of 4.0 cm. The paper should be viewed as a proof-of-principle and it is shown by measurements that phase based positioning can be a promising solution for movement tracking in cellular systems with extraordinary accuracy.

A MAC level strategy for dynamic resource allocation in Cognitive Radio tactical networks 认知无线电战术网络中动态资源分配的MAC级策略

The ability to continuously self-adapt to the variations of the radio environment will be an interesting issue for future tactical radio networks. Cognitive Radio (CR) is the main enabling paradigm allowing the self-adaptation process in military communications minimizing the human intervention in the network management operations. In this paper we provide a MAC-level solution based on a game theoretic framework that covers these open issues. Thinking to the CR devices in the network as players of the same game, the resource allocation problem can be formulated as a S-Modular Game, since it provides a set of helpful tools aimed at defining multi-objective distributed algorithms in the radio-communications context. On the base of the proposed solution, CR devices are able to hierarchically self-configure the network and share the radio resources in a fair and energy-efficient way. Simulation results presented in this paper has been obtained within the CORASMA project and they show the good performance of the proposed solution for cognitive radio tactical networks.
