Extremely low-loss single-mode photonic crystal fiber in the terahertz regime 太赫兹区极低损耗单模光子晶体光纤

This paper presents an updated design and numerical characterization of a rotated porous-core hexagonal photonic crystal fiber (PCF) for single-mode terahertz (THz) wave guidance. The simulation results are found using an efficient finite element method (FEM) which show a better and ultra-low effective absorption loss of 0.045 cm-1 at 1 THz and a more flattened dispersion of 0.74±0.07ps/THz/cm in a wider bandwidth (0.54-1.36 THz) than the previously reported results. Besides, the single-mode region has been extended up to 1.74 THz (previously up to 1.3 THz) which is advantageous for wideband THz applications.

Comprehensive modeling and analysis of Variable Speed Wind Turbine using Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator 永磁同步发电机变速风力发电机组综合建模与分析

Various types of converter-inverter topologies have been used in recent times for wind farms. This paper presents some new converter-inverter methods applied in a wind farm consisting of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG). Conventional 3-level converter-inverter responses have been compared with comparatively newer flying capacitor model and improved Z-source converter models. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed control topology. In order to extract maximum power, and hence regulate the voltage and frequency under varying wind conditions, converter-inverter sets are associated with Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) System. Simulations have been done by using the engineering software PSCAD/EMTDC. Real wind speed data have been considered for this study.

A complete modeling and analysis of solar system (cell/module/array) based on MATLAB 一个完整的基于MATLAB的太阳能系统(电池/模块/阵列)建模和分析

The instalment of photovoltaic power supply to the grid is necessary with a great pace due to scarcity of fossil fuel. The efficiency and cost of the photovoltaic system can be obtained by operating the PV array at the maximum of the PV system. Computer modeling has become important to estimate performance parameters, characteristics and electrical behaviour of a complete PV system (cell, module, array using MATLAB). This work presents computer modeling of a complete PV system. The effects of irradiance, temperature, shading and bypass diode on the output parameter [current, power, maximum power] are considered in this paper. The single diode model with series and parallel resistor is used to model the PV cell. Then the single cell is used to modeling and simulation of PV module and array. A typical 1KW solar panel is used for model evaluation. The developed computer model can be used to predict the behaviour of PV cell, module and array under different environmental and physical parameter. The proposed model can simulate the performance of commercial PV based power system and help to develop control system for driving the load of solar system in maximum power.

Computer-aided sleep apnea diagnosis from single-lead electrocardiogram using Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform and spectral features 双树复小波变换与频谱特征对单导联心电图睡眠呼吸暂停的计算机辅助诊断

In this work, Dual Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DT-CWT) is introduced to devise an effective feature extraction scheme for physiological signal analysis. Unlike discrete wavelet transform- DT-CWT ensures limited redundancy and provides approximate shift invariance. To demonstrate the efficacy of DT-CWT for physiological signal analysis, it is applied in conjunction with spectral features to propound a feature extraction scheme for automatic sleep apnea screening using single-lead ECG. It is shown that spectral features can distinguish between apnea and normal ECG signals quite well. This is further confirmed by the p-values obtained by Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance and graphical analyses. Thus, spectral features in the DT-CWT domain may be used to characterize ECG signal and help the sleep research community to implement various classification models to put computerized apnea screening into clinical practice.

An advanced controller to improve the power quality of microgrid connected converter 一种改善微电网并网变流器电能质量的先进控制器

This paper presents a new controller of a microgrid connected converter to reduce harmonic components to ensure high quality of electrical power, although the microgrid connected inverter with an LCL filter has the ability of attenuating the higher order harmonics. The major advantage of the proposed controller is that it can attenuate both the higher and lower order harmonics with a small size line filter which minimize both the physical size and cost of the system. Fast Fourier transform (FFT) and total harmonic distortion (THD) of the output voltage waveform is measured and compared to the preset tolerance level. The controller uses new type of modulation by using feed-forward control instead of feedback control to obtain quick response. Comparison of different output waveforms of converter using different modulation like space vector modulation (SVM), advanced pulse width modulation (PWM) and the proposed modulation are presented. The proposed controller using feed-forward scheme can effectively suppress the distortion arises from the grid voltage harmonics as well as regulate for different load conditions and power generation. MATLAB/Simulink is used for simulation of the entire system.

Fabrication, microstructural characterization and wear characteristics of A380 alloy-alumina composites A380合金-氧化铝复合材料的制备、显微组织表征及磨损特性

To obtain better mechanical and tribological properties than aluminium alloys aluminium is reinforced with alumina particles making aluminium metal matrix composites. In this work scrap piston A380 alloy was used as the matrix alloy. Alumina particles were added by 5%, 10% and 15% into matrix alloy respectively to form desired composites by stir casting technique. Pin on disc wear testing machine with counter surface as steel disc of hardness HRC 32 and surface roughness of 0.62 μm was used to conduct the wear test. In result composites showed superior wear resistance property over A380 alloy. The effect of load, sliding speed and sliding distance on wear behaviour were also examined in this study. Wear mechanism was identified from the worn surface. Both optical and scanning electron microscope (SEM) of the composites was performed to determine the microstructures. Optical micrograph shows grain size decreases with addition of alumina particles. EDS analysis was performed to confirm the presence of α-Al matrix, primary Si particles and intermetallic. As a general method, phase compositions were analyzed by using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with an energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Optical microstructures were consistent with the SEM micrographs.

Biometric smart attendance kit with fingerprint scanner by using microcontroller 采用单片机的指纹识别智能考勤套件

The register based conventional attendance system for the students in our educational institution is laborious, time consuming and kind of boring task for the educators. An intelligent system based on fingerprint scanner have been designed and implemented that supplanted the traditional mundane attendance system. The system can acquire, store, crosscheck the fingerprint of individuals and export the data in the form of Microsoft excel spreadsheet in a memory module. The entire procedures are supervised by a microcontroller. This smart attendance kit is portable, handy, cheap and reliable.

Experimental investigation and analysis of clock model and sensor networks agents time synchronization 时钟模型与传感器网络代理时间同步的实验研究与分析

Time synchronization is a critical and vital piece of infrastructure for any distributed system or sensor network design or real time simulation. Sensor network have many of the same requirements as traditional distributed systems. Distributed wireless sensor networks make extensive use of synchronized time stamps in swarm navigation. Our target is to investigate the time synchronization in the network agents and determine the parameters of individual clock elements of the network. Therefore this paper shows design of clock model, time stamp exchange principle and linear regression for clock time update. It is found from the real-time simulation that the mean of error Probability Distribution Function (PDF) is 20 ms with maximum error probability 2.2% for free running oscillator. The outlayers were removed, and the error was minimized by linear regression method.

An approach for letter recognition system modeling based on prominent features of EEG 基于脑电图显著特征的字母识别系统建模方法

Letter recognition system is a novel approach in the field of communication with the external world using human brain activity. The system is based on temporal and spatial analysis to extract salient features of raw electroencephalogram (EEG) signal. Among various features amplitude, skewness, mean value of EEG signal are chosen which indicate the largest dispersion for different letters and help to evaluate letter recognition system. Then the raw EEG signal is analyzed using FFT and wavelet. Both wavelet transform and statistical analysis distinguish letters more precisely than FFT analysis. The overall recognition rate is 80% and 85.6% for statistical and wavelet analysis, respectively. It is shown that our proposed system is capable of recognizing English alphabet efficiently and reliably.

This paper advances the field of single wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) organic solar cells by studying the photovoltaic characteristics to understand the optimization process for obtaining better power conversion efficiency (PCE). Open circuit voltage (Voc) is interpreted with the energy offset between donor and acceptor level. Quantum efficiency (QE) has been simulated considering absorption, exciton dissociation and charge collection efficiency for OPV materials. The simulated QE summed over the solar spectrum to find the short circuit current density (Jsc). Single chiral semiconducting single wall carbon nanotube (s-SWCNTs) are used as the donor with (6,6)-phenyl-C61- butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM). By changing the chirality of SWCNTs, the photovoltaic parameters are optimized. Highest Voc of 0.7849V has been achieved for (8,1) chiral CNT. Jsc can be maximized up to 3.65mA/cm2 and fill factor to 0.466 for (10,3) CNT. Finally PCE of around 1% has been found for chirality (10,3) and (11,1). In this work PCE has been increased through a range of about 14.75% by changing the chirality of CNTs.
