This paper makes a proposal of efficient contents sharing scheme working under the situation where the storages of both hybrid Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks and a cloud system are available. The scheme keeps the expected acquisition rate for contents searching at the level of freely-prearranged value, and is able to provide ideal environments according to the different types of contents sharing service requirements. The effectiveness of the scheme is verified by computer simulations.

Hand gestures recognition offers an alternative and natural input interface to control the consumer devices thanks to the latest advancement in the vision systems. For example, it can replace the remote control of television or set top box. However, the power consumption is a big issue in such applications and seriously affects its usability in standby modes. In this paper, we analyze if power consumption can be reduced taking advantage of the unique characteristics of such applications. We also show that skin pixel statistics are useful for designing low power systems using this framework.

The enhancement of recycling folded cascode (RFC) operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) is described in this paper. The proposed enhanced recycling folded cascode (ERFC) structure improves dc gain and unity-gain frequency of RFC amplifier. The ERFC OTA has been implemented using TSMC 0.18μm CMOS process and simulated with a 1.8V power supply and a 5.6pF capacitor load. Simulation results show that the proposed ERFC OTA achieves 27dB increment in dc gain (72.2dB versus 45.2dB) and about 11 times better in unity-gain frequency (66.5MHz versus 746MHz) compared with the RFC OTA.

Managing network infrastructure in companies and universities is an important task. The network management cost, however, is continuously increasing. Administrator's everyday work such as installing various new devices, changing existing routes, and fixing communication failures increases with the progress of the network. An effective way for managing the network with less cost and efforts is desired. We, therefore, propose a network administration system for visualizing network topology using Augmented Reality (AR). In this paper, we show a new approach for identifying target devices to visualize with mobile AR (Augmented Reality) technology. The approach is based on a concept of "sensor fusion" AR.

This work mainly develop a low noise X-band frequency synthesizer for 5G applications. A novel self-mixing technique is proposed for avoiding local pulling effect form the power amplifier (PA). The implemented X-band frequency synthesizer achieves a wide operating range of 8.8 ~ 9.6 GHz with very low phase noise of -83 dBc/Hz and -118 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz and 1 MHz offset frequency, respectively.

Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DPM) is aimed to help people to prevent and reduce property damage in time. In this paper, we propose a DPM system called Gaia, which collects sensed data, and sends them to a back-end DPM Server with improved performance. Gaia is equipped with double 3G interfaces and Load Balancing mechanisms with Round Robin scheduling to ensure stable transmission. Furthermore Session Traversal Utilities for NAT (STUN), is applied so that the DPM Server can proactively send requests to Gaia to adjust sensing parameters immediately. With these improvements and advanced features, data transmission speed becomes 50% faster than the previous system, and the cost is reduced 82% in total.

In LTE networks, even if two communicating UEs are closed enough, the traffic must go around core network. If Device-to-Device (D2D) communications used, two nearby UEs can directly exchange data, rather than passing core network to reduce loading of core network. However, D2D communications are not always gaining benefit. This paper proposes two mechanisms, namely Capacity-based scheme and Delay-based scheme, to assist the decision-making between D2D and Cellular transmission. Simulation results show that the proposed D2D mechanisms not only reduce the transmission delay but also improve the throughput compared to conventional mechanism.

In this paper, the design of matrix low-pass filter using discrete cosine transform (DCT) is presented. First, the matrix low-pass filter design problem is described. Then, the transfer matrix of the matrix low-pass filter is obtained by using DCT. Next, the designed matrix low-pass filter is applied to develop a sampling rate increasing method. Finally, a digital image magnification application is presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed matrix low-pass filter method.

A light field camera can retrieve the depth information and reconstruct a stereoscopic image. The quality of light field image processing is highly dependent on whether the disparity of two adjacent micro images can be determined accurately. In this paper, we apply an algorithm based on dilating image segments to determine disparity precisely. With the dilation operation, the edge and corner information, which are important features for template matching, can be well preserved for each segment. Moreover, we also apply the techniques of superpixel-based object extraction and intensity compensation to further improve the performance. Simulations show that, with the proposed algorithm, a more accurate depth map and a rendering image with higher quality can be achieved.

In this paper, a novel ultrasonic combination is proposed to degrade p-Nitro-phenol (PNP). The combination of two beams of ultrasonic wave, which are vertical to each other, generalized from ultrasonic transducers used in ozone environment. Since the ultrasonic field is enhanced by two beams of vertical ultrasonic waves, the degradation of PNP can be improved via the increasing hydroxyl generation. Experiment shows that the degradation is do better than that of the traditional simple ultrasonic transducers in the same electronic power.
