A protocol for energy transmission in packetized energy networks with sources and consumers 在具有源和消费者的分组能源网络中用于能量传输的协议

A protocol is proposed for energy transmission in packetized energy distribution networks with power sources and consumers. According to the proposed scheme, energy packets are transmitted simultaneously among multiple nodes. Each power source decides its energy transmission target depending on consumer demands and distances to them. The energy transmission procedure is triggered by an occurring of a consumer demand. The performance of the packtized energy distribution network is confirmed by computer simulations.

Improving iris image segmentation in unconstrained environments using NMF-based approach 基于nmf的无约束环境下虹膜图像分割改进方法

Nowadays the segmentation task becomes an important pre-processing stage for the iris classification system. The earlier works in the iris classification field demonstrate a promising result when the classification is performed under an ideal environment. However, the reduction of accuracy is observed when the iris images are captured in non-ideal circumstances. This work is based on the previous work that propose iris segmentation system with ί-Means clustering algorithm. In this work, we evaluate the performance of NMF-based clustering approach to replace the ί-Means algorithm. The iris images from UBIRIS dataset are used to verify the reliability of our work to perform iris region extraction in the unconstrained environments.

iFound: An object locator platform based on the radio transmission for IoT application iffound:物联网应用中基于无线电传输的目标定位平台

The proposed low power object locator platform is introduced and the two versions of sample implementation were built to show the applicability. One is based on the nRF24LE1 module and another is based on the nRF24L01 module. The former suit saves the power consumption and the size is reduced. The latter suit provides the physical verification of implementation during the development stage and acts as the reference design to compare the power consumption. The design of the hired components, interfaces and the usage for the proposed platform is introduced. The experimental results show that the power consumption issue has been overcome successfully.

Design of compact microwave diplexer for system-in-a-package applications 系统级封装应用的紧凑型微波双工器设计

A compact-size and high-isolation microwave diplexer for system-in-a-package has been proposed. By employing the folded stepped-impedance resonators (SIRs), the overall circuit size can be significant reduced. For demonstration, a diplexer operating at 0.5 GHz and 0.86 GHz with third-order Chebyshev bandpass response has been designed and fabricated with microstrip technology. As a result, the diplexer occupies a small size, i.e., 0.14 λg by 0.12 λg. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulation. The output isolation and out-of-band rejection better than 60 dB are achieved.

Wearable binocular eye tracking targets in 3-D environment using 2-D regression-based gaze estimation 基于二维回归的三维环境下可穿戴双目眼动追踪目标

This paper presents a binocular eye tracking device which used 2-D regression-based method to avoid the complicated vector calculations, often applied in geometry-based 3-D tracking, to increase processing speed. It is probably due to the speed increasing that enables us to do the experiments of dynamic estimation errors, which are actually like an experiment to trace a moving object in real 3-D environment if the predefined points, used for evaluating the error estimation, increased to a large number. So far, the preliminary estimations seemed acceptable. It also found 3-D estimation errors mainly caused by the 2-D calibration errors. Therefore, seeking a better 2-D calibration would become one of the important issues for further experiments.

Active surveillance using depth sensing technology — Part I: Intrusion detection 使用深度传感技术的主动监视。第1部分:入侵检测

In part I of a three-part series on active surveillance using depth-sensing technology, this paper proposes an algorithm to identify outdoor intrusion activities by monitoring skeletal positions from Microsoft Kinect sensor in real-time. This algorithm implements three techniques to identify a premise intrusion. The first technique observes a boundary line along the wall (or fence) of a surveilled premise for skeletal trespassing detection. The second technique observes the duration of a skeletal object within a region of a surveilled premise for loitering detection. The third technique analyzes the differences in skeletal height to identify wall climbing. Experiment results suggest that the proposed algorithm is able to detect trespassing, loitering and wall climbing at a rate of 70%, 85% and 80% respectively.

Laparoscopic video augmentation with infrared image information 基于红外图像信息的腹腔镜视频增强

Sub-surface information during a laparoscopic surgery is captured with a near infrared imaging where the tissue is highlighted with the help of an indocyanine dye injected to the patient before the surgery. The surgeons can use such system during the surgery, however, they need to swap the light source between infra-red and the white light to complete the surgery. Swapping the light source causes inconvenience and increase in the time of the surgery. The current study aims to develop a method for superimposing and tracking the infrared imagery on the laparoscopic video acquired under white light. In this study, the infrared imagery was captured and registered to one of the white light imagery from the endoscope video using a 2D image registration technique. The registration technique was based on maximization of mutual information between two images. The edges on the registered infrared image was detected using canny edge detection algorithm. A homography matrix between consecutive video frames under white light was calculated after characteristic feature point detection and matching. The homography matrix was applied on the registered infrared image (only edge) and a new registered edge image was generated. The process continued for every new frame of the video under white light. The system was applied with a video acquisition rate of 20 frames per second. The system needs to be evaluated for its influence on the time of surgery.

Object detection using adaptive block-based background model 基于自适应块背景模型的目标检测

This paper propose an adaptable block-based background modeling and real time image object detection algorithm. In training step, we present adaptable block-based background model that uses major color number to determine the block size. This background model can reduce the memory consumption, efficiently. In detection step, we use one pixel to compare with background model. Then, it can reduce processing time. The experiment results show that we can save 33.9% memory space. Finally, we can achieve 27.25 frames per second for the benchmark video with image size 768×576.

Currently, high-speed IEEE802.11n interfaces using MIMO have become common in access points (APs) and personal computers (PCs) for wireless local-area networks (WLANs). This trend leads to further expand the application areas for WLANs. In this paper, we present throughput measurement results of IEEE802.11n devices with various placement orientations in indoor environments. They show that measured throughputs are strongly affected by the roll and yaw angles at the installation of AP due to the multiple antennas in MIMO, which should be considered in optimizing the installation of APs in indoor fields.

Low-latency lossless compression codec design for high-throughput data-buses 高吞吐量数据总线的低延迟无损压缩编解码器设计

High-throughput data-bus systems are crucial for recent high-performance computing, especially for data intensive computing. The effective throughput can be improved by applying a lossless data compression with high-throughput codec. This paper proposes a lossless data compression codec using a simple context-base coding. Simulation results of compression ratio show that, compared to existing low-latency compression methods, the proposed method can achieve comparable compression ratios for many benchmark data sets with simple codec structure.
