Recognition of the desert plants is a challenging task for human as well as computers due to the similarities between these plants. We propose a novel method for recognizing of desert plants by the images of the bark. We extract the features of the texture of the bark using Weber Local Descriptor (WLD), we build a dataset of bark images for desert plants, this dataset consists of 1660 bark images for five species of the desert plants, these species are Palm Dates, Mimosa Scabrella, Sidr, Lemon and Pomegranate. We test three classifiers ANN, SVM and KNN on this dataset and the resulted accuracies are 99.7%, 98.8% and 98.0%, respectively. Performance of ANN is very high when compared to SVM and KNN classifiers, hence ANN can be adapted for recognition of the desert plants.

This paper aims at the efficient development and implementation of a dual-axis solar tracking system by using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Fuzzy logic has been suggested for this purpose. Here, the focused is lay down on Multi-Input, Multi-Output (MIMO) nature of tracking system and the issue of the interaction between them, which may cause instability, oscillation or lack of tracking and bias. It is shown how to develop fuzzy rules for removing or minimizing interactions. Specific requirements for the solar tracker and their implementation are also discussed. The rules and the above features were then encoded in VHSIC (Very High-Speed Integrated Circuit) High Definition Language (VHDL) for synthesizing the FPGA based controller. Results illustrate a successful implementation specially in development countries in Africa, where ample solar energy available nearly every day.

Image segmentation process represents the main stage for most computer vision systems. This paper presents an improved algorithm based on simple linear iterative clustering (SLIC) to reduce the number of used seeds for threshold estimation as well as the entire execution time of image segmentation. These is achieved by using split and merge stages for the location, number of seeds as well as other parameters of the seed points. The obtained results showed the possibility of using various threshold levels instead of a single one which represented a challenge due to the estimation complexity. The independent of the threshold-level estimation can contribute significantly in improving performance of the overall image segmentation process.)

A technique of multiobjective robust control synthesis considering regional pole placement for electro-optical device line-of-sight stabilization system is developed on the basis of polytopic linear parameter-varying systems theory. From the computational point of view, the synthesis procedure is reduced to convex optimization under constraints expressed in the form of linear matrix inequalities. The multiobjective synthesis of the robust control law for the stabilization system being considered is performed.

In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, one of the key drivers of change is a sharing economy or so called “uberization”. Uberization is especially rapidly developing in the service sector, in particular – when organizing individual passenger transportation by taxi services. Such taxi services as Uber and Gett, that use technological Internet platforms, allow faster and cheaper than traditional taxi companies to order the taxi. From the other point of view, they have the same disadvantage as the usage of individual transport is often associated with. It is the incomplete load of vehicles, which causes an additional negative impact on the environment as well as on the road network. This article presents a decision support system for taxi dispatch services based on the model of optimal route choice. Optimization is carried out with the help of multifactor analysis of transportation requirements and selection of the optimal route in accordance with given priorities. Such a system will reduce the cost of transportation and negative impact on the environment through the selection of fellow travelers by using a mobile application.

Shape memory alloys (SMAs) have enormous potential for a wide variety of applications. Therefore there has been a wide concern for studying the properties of those alloys. In this study polycrystalline alloys from shape memory alloy have been prepared successfully by thermal plasma spray in a wire form of 3 mm diameter in a graphite cast with three different ratios Ni50Ti50, Ni50.5Ti49.5 and Ni51Ti49. Its structure has been tested by means of X-ray diffraction technique. It has been noticed that annealing at 500° C helps to transform part of the material from an austenite phase into a martensite phase .It has also been noticed that increasing Ni proportion more than 50% to Ti in the alloy increases the martensite phase. The temperature of phase transformation as a function to the temperature of NiTi was calculated by using Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) at a temperature between 100°C and -80.0°C in a scan rate of 10°C/min. The charts show that transformation from an austenite phase into martensite phase is done through an intermediate phase called (R-phase) which means there is no direct transformation, while transformation from martensite into austenite in heating cycle is direct. An exception to that is annealing Ni50Ti50 at a temperature of 400°Cwhere the transformation cycle is in two stages.

One of the main reasons for death among women is breast cancer. The traditional diagnosis process of breast cancer is time-consuming and expensive. Also, an early cancer diagnosis may reduce the breast cancer death rate. With the help of computer-aided diagnosis system, the efficiency increased and the cost is reduced of the cancer diagnosis. Traditional classification methodologies are based on feature extraction techniques. Currently, deep learning techniques have become the alternative solution for diagnosis and overcame the problems of the handcrafted features methods. Increasing the depth in a deep convolutional neural network makes the network suffer from gradient vanishing problems, which are not caused by overfitting but instead by an increase in depth. Therefore, our proposed network is designed based on the idea of increasing the width of the network. A novel two-branch deep convolutional neural network is proposed for the classification of histopathological breast images. The proposed network is trained on the dataset of ICIAR-2018 to classify images into four classes; invasive carcinoma, in situ carcinoma, benign lesion, and normal tissue image. The proposed network is beneficial for gradient propagation as the error can be back-propagated through multiple paths. It also helps to combine different levels of features at each step of the network since it is a two-branch network. The proposed network is superior to the existing methods by achieving a patch-wise classification accuracy of 83.6% and image-wise classification accuracy of 91.3% on the divided part from the training set. Moreover, we have achieved an image-wise classification accuracy of 89.4% on the unseen test images of ICIAR-2018.

Because the power line of IoT devices is difficult to be arranged in many applications, devices are usually powered by batteries. The low-power wireless communication becomes a significant technology in IoT. The mixed control algorithm including TPC (Transmit Power Control) and ADR (Adaptive Data Rate) with DSSS (Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum) is proposed in this paper and is implemented on Texas Instruments CC1310 platform. The experimental results show that the power consumption of nodes can be greatly reduced in this paper.
