The process of learning is emotional as well as intellectual. With this principle, it is assumed that both teachers and students need to have a positive mental and emotional state during the class. However, studies about the influence of teachers’ happiness to the students’ performance are scarce. Therefore, the researchers sought to know the students’ perception on this topic. Through convenience sampling, thirty respondents were chosen from the population of Grade 10 students enrolled in Manuel G. Araullo High School. They answered a questionnaire composed of both closed and open-ended questions. Mode and mean were used to analyze the collected data. This study determined the top seven indicators of teacher’s happiness. A teacher is seen as happy by the learners when the teacher smiles; he/she starts the class discussion with greetings; he/she seems to enjoy while teaching; he/she is kind; he/she teaches in a nice way; he/she is full of energy; and, he/she is active. Majority of the students say that their teachers are happy 51-75% of the time. Students perceive that their teachers’ happiness and lack of happiness both influence their learning. Specifically, they do not learn the lesson anymore if their teachers are not happy. Students also believe they learn the most if their teachers are happy. It is recommended that the teachers manifest the top seven indicators of teachers’ happiness. Teachers are encouraged to study if there are significant relationships between the happiness of teachers and the happiness of student and their academic performance. Keywords – academic performance, happiness, perception

The research aims to analyze the techniques used in translating international literature to Filipino literature. The method of this study is descriptive- qualitative that focuses on translation product analysis. The collecting of data comes from international literature particularly short story such as The Necklace (Ang Kuwintas), The Pig (Ang Alaga), and The Gift of Magi (Ang Aginaldo ng mga Mago) that was translated from English into Filipino and has been used in the 10th-grade level of Department of Education in the Philippines. The findings revealed five translation procedures identified in this study. Those procedures are as follows: Borrowing, Modulation, Transposition, Equivalence, and Adaptation. The first technique (borrowing) is oriented to the source text while the rest (explicating, modulation, equivalence, and adaptation) are oriented to the target text. Procedures that are oriented to source text are referred to as direct translation, while those to target text are referred to as oblique translation. The findings reveal that translators did not use dialectal and word formations to compensate for certain technical and cultural words but instead translated them into a statement or phrase where the word in the English version is reciprocated in a way that is interpreted. This means that instead of borrowing a word, the translator sometimes interprets the word. keywords: translation, procedure, direct, oblique

The passage of the Data Privacy Act of 2012, establishes a new data privacy framework for all industries and sectors, whether in public or private. Different agencies’ policies have aimed to foster innovation and the development of commercial and public sector technical skills. The hit COVID-19 pandemic pushed academic institutions for a paradigm shift in the delivery of instructional and administrative services in online platforms. This study assessed Laguna State Polytechnic University’s (LSPU) data privacy policies and governance transformation to determine its best practices and establish an informational privacy framework. LSPU commenced its full compliance in 2017, hence the researcher chose the respondents whose employment at the university is between 2017 and 2021 to ensure they have sufficient experience and skill in the implementation of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and its rules and regulation in the university. Questionnaires were utilized to collect information, and interviews with unit heads and university staff validated the results. Based on the study’s hypothesis, it is determined that the governance of existing data privacy policies at the institution is completely established. Since the results of the analysis revealed a significant correlation, the respondents strongly support a very high degree of data privacy implementation oversight. Further, using the path-analysis technique, it was found that governance has a positive effect on the current practices of data privacy in the university. Finally, the study revealed that when there is a certain policy change responsive to the data privacy law that is to be implemented in the university, it is expected that practices in the implementation of data privacy law will show significant change. Food safety practices and the dining experience are among the several factors that may influence the behavioral intentions of restaurant customers. This study aimed to measure the food safety practices, customer dining experience, and behavioral intention among DOT-accredited restaurants in Central Luzon. This paper also sought to determine the differences in the responses when grouped according to their demographic variables and determine the relationship between food safety practices and dining experience in the behavioral intention of customers. Descriptive and quantitative research methods were applied to determine the actual food safety practices, dining experience, and behavioral intention among 395 customers of DOT-accredited independent restaurants in Central Luzon. Adapted questionnaires underwent validity and reliability test. Weighted mean, analysis of variance, t-test, correlation matrix, and Pearson r were used as statistical tools. The findings revealed that customers are satisfied with the restaurant’s food safety practices and dining experience which makes their behavioral intention likely positive. This study also found that females are more likely to spread word of mouth. Generation Y, employed customers, those who visit once a month, and those who travel alone are more satisfied with the restaurant’s food safety practices and dining experience which positively affects their behavioral intention. Moreover, the study also revealed that food safety practices and dining experience have a significant relationship with behavioral intention. The behavioral intention framework was developed based on the result of the study. Keywords: Food Handling, Food Quality, Generation Y, Independent restaurants, Word of Mouth

Illegal logging contributes to conflicts with the local populations, political violence, funding armed conflicts, and worsening poverty. The main objective of this study was to determine the extent of the implementation of anti-illegal logging law in Eastern Visayas. Also, it aimed to identify the actions of the implementing agencies to the illegal logging activities and reasons why it persists. Purposive sampling was utilized to identify the eighteen forest protection officers from PENRO and CENRO of DENR and fifty-one police personnel in selected police stations. An explanatory sequential mixed method was employed in this study, using a combination of quantitative and qualitative descriptive approaches. The findings revealed that forest law enforcers implemented the anti-illegal logging law in Eastern Visayas. The study further revealed no significant difference in the perception of the forest protection officers and the police respondents regarding the implementation of anti-illegal logging law. The actions taken by the implementing agencies were in coordination with other implementing agencies, anti-illegal logging operations conducted, apprehension, confiscation of logs, wood, chainsaws, and conveyances, and appropriate charges filed towards timber poachers The reasons why the problems persist were the lack of livelihood programs, timber poaching as a regular occupation, economic and political factors, minimal penalties, inadequate manpower, and noncooperation of the community. Thus, the anti-illegal logging law should be further carried out to protect the forest and the people’s general safety. Keywords: Criminology, Anti-illegal logging law, mixed methods, Philippines

This study looked into the different lived experiences of school principals in the Basic Education Department in Laguna and how they led a multigenerational teaching staff in the new normal. Concerns have also been raised about school leaders’ first-hand experiences managing multigenerational teaching staff in the new normal, as well as how they deal with the issues they face. School leaders will be enlightened to provide a roadmap to promote acceptance and flexibility in the abrupt changes from the traditional face-to-face school setting to blended and online delivery of teaching as a result of their shared experiences. The researcher utilized the hermeneutic qualitative research design-phenomenological approach. The participants of the study were the twelve (12) school principals including the researcher herself who narrated that leading a multigenerational teaching staff creates new challenges for principals. Participants’ testimonies can assist leaders in capitalizing on generational differences and using them to foster a positive work environment. Therefore, it became more important for school leaders to have an understanding of order to determine what motivates each generation to contribute effectively to the school in the new normal, researchers looked at each generational group and their differences. Emerging themes from the study include Together as One, Heart to Heart Talk, Work from Home, Better Together, Leading the New Way, Silver Lining, The Generational Divide, An Uphill Climb, A Leader, A Fighter, Peaks and Valleys, e-Support, Leadership that Works and A Competitive Advantage. A compendium of best practices of leadership in multigenerational teaching staff in the new normal was provided in the study. Many private schools are greatly affected by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and as a result, many HEIs decided to shut down their school operations such as College of Holy Spirit Manila, Colegio de San Lorenzo, and Kalayaan College. Low student retention is the main reason for its permanent closure and based on the previous study, student satisfaction with service quality can increase customer loyalty for continuous patronage. The study assesses student satisfaction in the SQD using the Modified SERVQUAL Model among the selected HEIs in Manila, Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic. The main objective of the study is to provide updated data information regarding student satisfaction to help both participating and non-participating schools continuously improve the service quality for students. The 366 survey respondents and 12 interview participants are 3rd years and 4th-year undergraduate students from the selected private HEIs in Manila, Philippines. The research design is descriptive research and used the mixed method technique to assess student satisfaction in the service quality dimensions for both academic and non-academic services. The homogeneous purposive sampling technique is used to select and recruit participants with shared characteristics such as the same year levels which are the 3rd year and 4th year undergraduate students who have more knowledge, experience, and exposure to the services of the university for both academic and non-academic services. Kruskal Wallis test and Mann Whitney are used for statistical data analysis and hypothesis testing. In the quantitative part of the study, the empathy dimension is the lowest SQD among selected HEIs in Manila. Therefore, it is recommended that university administrators establish a TQM service culture with an emphasis on genuine connection. In the thematic analysis, the reliability dimension with academic teaching ineffectiveness got the highest frequency among negative sub-themes. Therefore, it is recommended for academic heads to reconduct a faculty development program with an emphasis on advanced teaching effectiveness. This study tries to evaluate the teaching and learning process of Teaching Functions and Relations of Sets using Nearpod. The purpose of the study is to determine whether Nearpod can be used as a Learning Platform in interactively teaching Functions and Relations between Sets in a Blended Learning Environment. This is a phenomenological study conducted in a Mathematics Class at Marikina Polytechnic College. A lesson was presented and delivered to MAT Mathematics Major students of the Marikina Polytechnic College who also assess and evaluate the lesson based on the implementation of Nearpod in teaching Functions and Relations between Sets. Reflections and Feedback given by teachers were analyzed through a thematic approach. Results show that Nearpod provides ease of access using different devices and promotes teaching both in online and face-to-face settings. Ease of access to creating diagrams through the Draw-it feature makes teaching and learning g functions and the relation between sets interactively engaging. There are, however, the teacher must be mindful of the risk in teaching relations and function of sets. To avoid it, the teacher must specify the objective of teaching Functions and relations between sets and delivering the lesson efficiently to maximize the potential of the feature of Nearpod. Thus, it is suggested to implement Interactive Teaching using Nearpod not only in teaching Mathematics but in other subjects. Marikina is one of the leading cities in high-grade shoe production. The purpose of this study is to assess the value and quality of footwear made by the researcher from Musa textilis known as abaca in terms of the whole shoe test, bonding, upper material flex of abaca, rub fastness, Martindale abrasion, and din abrasion resistance. The parameters used were the common tests to determine the durability and quality of material for footwear production. This is developmental research in which the author’s target is to create shoes from plant-based material such as abaca (Musa textilis). The developed footwear was also compared to the standard set by the Philippine Footwear Federation, Marikina City Philippines. According to the findings of this study, some plant-based materials can be used for footwear making. The material science of the plant material should also be assessed for durability, flexibility, and compressibility for good and quality footwear.
