In Burkina Faso, dietary patterns lack diversification and is characterized by a low consumption of vegetables. This is attributable to rooted eating habits, limited accessibility to vegetables, and a lack of awareness regarding the positive health effects and overall well-being associated with vegetable consumption. Raising consumers’ awareness about the benefits of high intake of vegetables such as tomatoes can boost vegetable demand and supply. This review aims to highlight the nutritional characteristics and health benefits of tomato consumption, as well as its socio-economic importance for the population, especially women and youth. The literature revealed that tomato is recognized as a good source of carbohydrates, proteins, fatty acids, minerals, vitamins, amino acids and phenolic compounds and has therapeutic properties that can treat diarrhea and hypertension. A number of studies have reported that tomato’s consumption help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes. Furthermore, tomato cultivation generates substantial income for producers and so reduces seasonal unemployment and poverty in many regions. Additionally, tomato cultivation can contribute to the resilience of populations to tackle the effects of climate change by enhancing food and nutritional security.

Goat's milk (GM), sheep's milk (SM), and its fermentation products are renowned for their nutritional and health advantages, yet they often face challenges in the market due to their distinctive flavor, which some consumers find unpleasant. The incorporation of fruit purees presents an appealing solution for enhancing taste, odor and masking the undesirable flavors in these dairy products. The current study aimed to investigate the effects of supplementing plain fermented GM or SM with date puree (DP) at concentrations of 1.5, 3, and 5% on physicochemical, antioxidant, rheological and sensory properties of the products. The pH-values, ash, fibers, antioxidants, and viscosity of both flavored goat drinkable yogurt (FGY) and flavored sheep-drinkable yogurt (FSY) were significantly higher (p≤0.05) compared to both plain drinkables. Drinkable yogurt fortified with 5% DP had a higher total solid content, while samples fortified with 1.5% and 3% DP had higher protein and fat contents than the control samples. The addition of DP improved significantly (p≤0.05) the sensory attributes of FGY and FSY, and the yogurt samples were more acceptable than controls. The cold storage (5◦C) for 10 days had significant effects (p≤0.05) on the properties of all yogurt samples. In conclusion, the addition of DP improved the physicochemical

According to their position within a tree canopy, fruits will be exposed to varied climatic conditions especially light and temperature, which would reflect variation in their growth and maturation. In the present study, the differences occurring in vegetative growth, fruit yield and quality of Costata persimmon in accordance with rootstock type and fruit position in the canopy were investigated. Periphery especially, both southern and western directions besides the upper part and the outer canopy side indicated the highest values of fruit retention, average fruit number per shoot, fruit yield, spring shoot length, leaf area, total leaf area per fruit and leaf chlorophyll content. While the percentage of sunburned fruits was lower at both northern and eastern directions, as well as at the lower and inner part than the other directions of tree canopy. The best fruit physiochemical characteristics were found in both western and southern directions, as well as the upper part and outer part of the tree canopy. Trees grown on seedy rootstock gave the highest values of fruit yield, shoot length, leaf area and total leaf area per fruit. Along with lower sunburned fruits, longer, wider, heavier and firmer fruits were also found on Seedy rootstock.
