Digit tumors of the hand are uncommon clinical conditions. Differential diagnosis of these lesions can cross over more common conditions, like infection or swelling and always requires histological examination. [1-15] The first clinical examination often occurs in emergency room (ER), since pain, swelling and functional impairment are common symptoms [2,11]. In this report we describe a case of a rare acrometastasis that turned out to be of pulmonary origin. Metastasis at hands and fingers is a rare entity, but even rarer is their presentation as the first sign of a cancer [1,3]. Dominant hand is slightly predilected and the distal phalanx of the thumb is the most frequently involved location [1]. The prognosis is unfavorable, the average survival from the time of diagnosis is about 7 ± 7 months, although extremely rare cases of longer survival are described [4,8,14].

Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase; Newcastle-Ottawa Preferred Reporting for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses; Quality of Life; Relative S-Adenosyl-homocysteine; S-Adenosylmethio-nine; Background: Cancer research has increased interest in lifestyle factors. These can affect colorectal cancer burden, which is the second common cause of cancer death worldwide, although 40% of the cases would be preventable. Aim: We aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis on relationship between B vitamin intake and colorectal cancer where 14 publications were analysed. Methods: We carried out a systematic search of scientific literature based on PRISMA statements. Combined effect size (CES), confident interval (CI), prediction interval (PI), I2 and publication bias were calculated during statistical analysis of selected studies. Results: Combined effect sizes showed inverse association between higher intake of vitamin B2 (CES = 0.90; CI95% 0.83 - 0.97; I2 = 0.00%, p = 0.910), B6 (CES = 0.80; CI95% 0.68-0.92; I2 = 9.17%, p = 0.359) and CRC. We could not confirm the higher dietary intake of vitamin B12 reducing the risk of CRC. Vitamin B2 and B6 could compensate the effect of MTHFR C677T polymorphism (CES = 0.81; CI95% 0.64 - 0.98; I2 = 0.00%, p = 0.515) as well. Conclusion: Our results suggest that optimal intake of vitamin B2 and B6 could be important dietary factors in prevention of CRC. The association with vitamin B12 is inconsistent as its bioavailability is affected by other lifestyle factors. Vitamin B2 and B6 could influence MTHFR enzyme activity, therefore these vitamins might be incorporated into screening process of CRC with recommendations for specific diet.

Sarcomatoid change is an uncommon phenomenon (accounts for approximately 0.4%) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) which is characterized by poorly differentiated neoplasm containing sarcoma or sarcomatoid components [1-3], its pathological diagnosis include five subtypes (pleomorphic carcinoma, spindle cell carcinoma, carcinosarcoma, giant cell carcinoma and pulmonary blastom) and require high-quality sampling of the tumor [4]. Since pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma (PSC) is generally a form of highly aggressive malignancy in NSCLC, it is no wonder that it has an extremely poor prognosis [1]. 3D Screen Printing Enables Application of Integrated QR Codes on Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms in Mass Production – A Game Changer. Biomed Quick Response (QR) codes have shown enormous potential to improve the flow of information from industry to providers and patients, by enabling access to supplemental safety data, potential drug interactions, among numerous other use-cases in real-time. Advances in 3D printing technology, such as 3D screen printing (3DSP), have allowed for mass customization of pharmaceuticals down to the single-tablet level. The integration of in-drug labeling of pharmaceuticals with unique identifying information, such as QR codes, has been shown to reduce medication errors, improve patient safety, and provide a viable mechanism for remote patient monitoring and identifying counterfeit drugs. This review investigates the progress that has been made in the last few years in using QR codes for drug labeling, with a specific focus on the potential for using 3D printing technology, including screen printing, to expedite QR code integration at the single tablet level.
