The behavior of the initial magnetic susceptibility and the electrical properties of Fe92Zr8 amorphous alloys are studied. Two magnetic interactions (ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic) are observed. The temperature coefficient of the resistivity in the absence of the magnetic field is found to be changeable in sign. The value of the magnetoresistance in zero magnetic field is greater than that found in the remanance magnetic field. X-ray diffraction peaks show that alloy ribbons have a heterogeneous structure caused by the effect of the quenching during the alloy preparation. The line defects are of vacancy type and reveal characteristic etch figures. A possible explanation is seen in the development of oriented point defect clusters. The flux dependence of damage accumulation in silicon during Ne+-bombardment up to the mA/cm2 range is investigated using the Rutherford backscattering technique (RBS). The additional damage due to the flux effect shows an increase with the current density for all three target temperatures used. The results can be satisfactorily explained assuming a proportionality of the damage increase per atom to the dynamical overlapping probability of subsequently incoming ions during the lifetime of the mobile defects. It is assumed that the maximum damage increase due to double collision events corresponds to the case of molecule ion bombardment.
