In this article, I address issues of inequality in Italy and, in particular, the role that education can play in fighting inequality. Moving beyond the nevertheless real problem of the scarcity of funds allocated by the Italian governments to education, I focus on the objectives that should inform spending criteria, thus emphasizing the importance of truly inclusive education, achievable through an ambitious path of comprehensive and incisive reforms. A country that does not excel in the civic sense and that for some scholars is even becoming less civilized, Italy should put education back at the center not only as a matter of social justice, but also to avert decline and improve the quality of its democratic coexistence. The paper focuses on assessing the traditional methods of crime control in an identified traditional community. Its main objective is to examine critically the traditional methods of crime control in a particular traditional community so as to appreciate the effectiveness of the traditional methods in crime control. To achieve this objective, the traditional community of Mpam in Ahiazu Mbaise L.G.A of Imo state was identified. An ethnographic non-participant descriptive method of analysis was used. Its sources of information included observations as well as secondary sources (books, journals, and the internet). A few theories were identified and reviewed, and the Control theory of Crime was adopted as the theoretical framework. In its investigation, some findings were made; these include: Crime Control measures serve as deterrents to prevent people from criminal behaviors; crime control methods in traditional societies may be primitive in nature, but they help in effectively controlling crimes among the natives; besides, society itself may be contributory in causing people to engage in criminal behavior. The paper therefore concludes that, in as much as crime is inevitable in all human societies (modern or traditional) effective crime control methods are the remedy to combat crime to achieve societal harmony. And thus, recommends: government should encourage traditional societies to retain some of their traditional crime control methods that have proved to be effective in controlling crime among the people; the leadership of traditional societies should review and adjust some of their traditional crime control methods that may infringe on the individual’s human rights, inter alia. This article aims to examine the capacity of the European Union (EU) to continue to promote its normative power through the implementation of its Enlargement policy in the region of the Western Balkans. First, it examines the EU strategy towards the Western Balkans regarding its Enlargement Policy and the repercussion on the Western Balkans' perception of the European Union, which here is used as one of the denominators for the EU as a normative power. Then, using the Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia cases, the article determines whether the EU continues to be considered a normative factor in the Western Balkans. Finally, it explores how the more inclusive Enlargement Policy followed by a harshened Conditionality has affected the future of the Western Balkans Region in the EU. Furthermore, this analysis sheds light on how the EU’s strategic vision has altered regarding the Region of the WB and how this vision meets the WB's expectations. Following such an examination, both sides of the story are scrutinized in a comparative approach to establish if the EU remains a normative power for the Western Balkan countries, even after a long period of EU integration stagnation. Violence such as rape has been and continues to be the major problem in Africa. It is because defective family dynamic, sexualized racism, rape myths, patriarchal dominance, low legal system response to victims’ cases etc. often exert ever more significant obstacles in bringing a paradigm shift in people’s understanding towards victim reaction to sexual assault. Thus, it is vital to create a more trauma informed society and legal system in order to reduce the rate of sexual assault and to develop more effective criminal justice system responses to sexual assault cases. To this end, literary texts can play a paramount role since it can be used as a signpost to display victims’ reaction to sexual assault. Therefore, the main objective of this article was to undertake a critical examination of the traumatic impacts of sexual assault reflected in Amadu’s Novel “No Past No Present No Future” and Mda’s novel “The Madonna of Excelsior”, hoping to send signals to researchers to see the immense contribution which literary works can have to bring a paradigm shift in people’s understanding towards the drastic emotional, and psychological damages of rape. A trauma theory dominantly informed by Freud, and Van der Kolk and Greenberg was applied to analyze and discuss the causes of sexual assault and its resultant impact towards the victim characters in the novels under study. The study findings revealed that betrayal and negative heterosexual encounters as the causes of trauma and eventual PTSD in Amadu’s novel: “No Past No Present No Future”. In addition, the study has also found that homosexuality has been presented as the haven for the traumatized character to come at peace with his present condition leaving his traumatic experience behind. On the other hand, sexualized racism, racial injustice, and poverty caused sexual victimization of the major character in the Mda’s novel “The Madonna of Excelsior”. In addition, the study also found that rape exposed the victim character to experience trauma, which was very hard to bear, and its impact cut through the victim character’s life with emotional and psychological scars left behind. Furthermore, the study revealed that the victim character became prone to having flashback to memories which is a strong sign that PTSD develops in the novel “The Madonna of Excelsior”. Based on these findings, using literary texts which specifically focus on the consequences of sexual assault to educate society about victims’ reaction to rape is inexorably advisable and researchers in psychology can hopefully use the implications in this study to explore further the role of literature in reducing violence including rape and creating a health community life.

Before the advent of the British, the public sphere did not evolve much in India to channelizing the grievances and thoughts of the masses at large. Any discussion related to the state, administration, or any area was confined mostly to the royal court. All the Hindu and Muslim rulers considered themselves supreme and they never sought public opinion. The rational public discussion and places such as coffee houses and salons as suggested by the Habermas as in Western Europe were almost extinct here. As far as the Assam was concerned the growth of almost 170 years of Assamese print media is also linked with the rise of sub-regional nationalism. Most of the public debates were taking place in the print media. So, print media have become an important aspect of the public sphere. The periodicals, starting from Orunudoi onwards had been publishing important topics of society, and women issues were continuously being discussed there. So, analysing the 19th century is important to understand the questions that started on women’s behalf to improve their position in the society. The study was premised on factors that influence secondary school students’ participation in drug and substance abuse activities. In this context for data generation, analysis, and discussion, was guided by a framework comprised of the phenomenology and qualitative approach. For this study thirty students and six class teachers from one secondary school in Zimbabwe were purposively and conveniently sampled as sources of information for the issue under investigation respectively. Document analysis, focus group discussion, and personal interview were employed to generate data, which was later analyzed according to emerging themes. From the study, it was revealed that secondary school students were abusing a variety of drugs, and substances such as ganja cakes, among others. It was also noted that students at the secondary school under investigation were driven into drug and substance abuse activities due to peer pressure among others. With the aim to mitigate prevalence of drug and substance abuse amongst the students at selected secondary schools, it was advocated that peer counseling, establishing rehabilitation centers, the introduction of stiff disciplinary measures, and awareness campaigns. Therefore, it can be concluded that secondary school students’ participation in drug and substance abuse, within the school premises was largely influenced by multiple factors. It is in this context that the researchers recommend that in selected secondary school coaching of students secondary school students, teachers, and parents/guardians on the execution of peer counseling strategy to ease off secondary school students' participation in anti-social demeanors needs be reinforced. Terms like child abuse, child labour, street children, child trafficking, and child marriage underscore the vulnerability of children worldwide, and underpin the imperative of affording them holistic care. Such services must address the underlying factors that elevate their vulnerability as is consistent with the person-in-environment focus of social work. Given our historical commitments and top-notch values, the social work profession, more than any other, is most concerned with the well-being of children. Yet, not much is known of our professional action in Africa, a region near the pyramid's pinnacle in child rights violation. This article presents the findings of a qualitative study, involving five voluntary organizations, which explored the nature of social work services to vulnerable children. Drawing on a constructivist framework, semi-structured interviews were conducted to gather data in Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria, and the results were then thematically analyzed. Findings indicate that social work services for vulnerable children require strengthening, since it does not address the root causes that exacerbate their vulnerability. Suggestions for navigating these challenges are explored. Received: 2 November 2022 / Accepted: 30 December 2022 / Published: 5 January 2023

This paper focuses on Sociological Perspective on the impact of technology on airport management, with focus on Nigeria. Its general aim is to ascertain the impact technology has on airport management; in particular: 1). To find out the implications advances in technology has on airport security management, 2). ascertain the implications of advances in technology on job retention for airport workers, 3). examine the impact of technology on airport users'experience, and 4) identify policy-based recommendations for a way forward. To achieve these objectives, the paper employed qualitative descriptive method; the use of tabulation, and graphic illustration in its analysis. For the sake of proper understanding, and with the aid of extrapolations, a Sociological theory, 'Functionalism', was adopted as the theoretical framework. In its expected outcomes, the study revealed the type of relationship between the two variables (technology and airport management), and the implications for Nigeria as a whole, and airport stakeholders in particular. A few of the findings include: technology has both positive and negative impact in Nigeria's airport management processes; it assures airport users'advantage, as well portends risk; it aids airport workers' workflow convenience, as well portends future job loss, etc. The paper therefore recommends, 1. Nigerian government should embrace the global advances in airport technology but at the same time brace up for its discontents; 2. Airport users should be technology-compliant to enable them appropriate the advantages of new airport technologies and manage its discontents as well; inter alia . This research looked at the hurdles to Iran's growth plans in the modern world political economy. The data for this study was gathered from secondary sources such as textbooks, magazine articles, and online sources, and the data was analysed using content analysis. According to this study, Iran has been plagued by violent strife for many years. Furthermore, the mistaken economic policies of earlier Iranian leaders, as well as a reluctance to open the economy to international investors, have contributed to the country's economic stagnation throughout the years. Finally, this study suggests, among other things, that a total shutdown of the Iranian economy in the current global economy will continue to deprive Iran of the myriad economic gains associated with globalisation. This study is an exploration of the melancholic relationship to appearance reflected in Amadu Maddy’s “No Past No Present No Future”. To this end, the researcher uses textual analysis and descriptive criticism to unravel the causes and consequences of melancholic relationship to appearance. The theory of racial melancholia which is dominantly informed by Fanonian approach to the psychology of racism is used to account for the intra-psychic forces which operate within the melancholic characters in the subject novel. As the finding discloses, Amadu’s novel saw at close range that the immediate postcolonial world is dominated by two groups of people: some hermitized white souls whose mindset is stuck in more traditional forms of biological, and pseudo-scientific racism, and those black people with “black skin and white masks.”. Both exist in a borrowed time, unable to come to terms with the psychological states upon which their conscious and unconscious thoughts are hanging, have long lost wellness. The former see their articles of racial superiority as a self-evident truth; the latter plunge into a psychic process whereby the loss of belonging becomes the cause of ongoing trauma, realizing that they belong nowhere, that they must live in a world that would never give recognition to their existence.
