The Japanese government’s decision to drain nuclear waste into the sea from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, which is set to begin in 2023, could stymie geopolitical cooperation and collaboration, as well as the risk of radioactive elements in the wastewater having an incalculable impact on the planet’s ecology and human society. Using qualitative content analysis, this article evaluates the history of the Japanese nuclear wastewater disaster, as well as support and opposition voices from other countries, academia, and civil society organizations. It explains how China may use the “policy + public opinion” system of governments and non-governmental organizations to defend its interests in international public opinion and eventually gain worldwide discourse power that matches China’s strength.

In this study, we discussed residents’ satisfaction with democratic decision-making in the process of relocation of disaster-prone villages in Beijing from two dimensions which were public participation and system construction. Through the analysis of the ordered logit model, it was confirmed that the variables of residents’ participation and community system construction were significantly positively correlated with the satisfaction variables of democratic decision-making. There were some problems in the democratic decision-making in the process of relocation of disaster-prone villages in Beijing, such as inconsistent decision-making content and residents’ attention, weak participation consciousness, single form, poor channel, and imperfect legal system construction. Based on these, we put forward the following policy recommendations: 1) Bring industrial development and major livelihood issues into the content system of democratic decision-making; 2) Enrich the forms of democratic decision-making, increase decision-making channels, and enhance residents’ enthusiasm for participation; 3) Strengthen the system construction, so that democratic decision-making could be based on laws and regulations.

The concept of “African Solutions for African Problems—ASAP” is promoting as a viable option to address the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) dispute. Previous studies focused on the broader Nile River issue. However, the dynamics of African-led mechanisms haven’t received proper scholarly attention. Thus using secondary data, this research will figure out how the concept of ASAP can be applied and the enduring challenges. The major findings are the earlier legal frameworks mainly (the contentious 1929 and 1959 treaties) about the utilization of the Nile River, nationalistic interests and alliance formation and extra-regional powers intervention in the GERD dispute. The concept can be applied through enhancing the AU-led negotiations and in long run through strengthening the sub-regional mechanisms such as the NBI and commonly accepted frameworks.

Land is the most important resource in Africa and it has a wide range of economic, political, social and religious significance. The agricultural cooperation between China and African countries under the China-Africa Community with a Shared Future has made great achievements. The agricultural economy is one of the main sources of income for Zimbabwe’s national wealth. China-Zimbabwe agricultural cooperation has promoted the rapid recovery and development of Zimbabwe’s national economy. However, there are still many outstanding problems in specific cooperation practices, such as the one-way tilt of aid, low added value of crops, and serious debt problems. These questions influence the advancement of agricultural cooperation between the two countries in varying degrees. Based on literature analysis, this article starts from the status quo of agricultural cooperation between China and Zimbabwe, deeply analyzes the problems existing in the development of agricultural cooperation between China and Zimbabwe, and proposes targeted countermeasures to promote the agricultural cooperation between China and Zimbabwe to a higher level. In turn, the further development of China-Africa agricultural cooperation will promote the better realization of the development of a China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.
