The test precision optical fibre sensors are increasingly important due to the widespread application of optical fibre sensing technology in structural health monitoring. Strain transfer analysis, which can be used to determine the action mechanism and to improve the precision of these sensors, is therefore an important issue. The earliest research started in the 1990s, and many excellent achievements have been obtained based on traditional elastic theory and stress transfer analysis of composites. A variety of strain transfer deductions appear to describe the differences in the mechanical models, assumptions and boundaries. A comprehensive discussion and brief review of representative strain transfer analyses is conducted, and some problems that urgently need to be addressed are stated. In addition, the developing trends in this subject are mentioned. The work in this article provides valuable guidance for understanding the research advances in strain transfer analysis, which will ultimately serve for the strain transfer error modification of optical fibre sensing models.
The main strategy of modern education should focus on the student's independent activity, the organization of self-learning environments and experimental and practical training, where students have a choice of actions and can use initiative—as well as flexible training programs where students can work in a comfortable rhythm. Today, we should talk about the use of interactive methods of training, which encourage interest in the profession; promote the efficient acquisition of training material; form patterns of conduct; provide high motivation, strength, knowledge, team spirit and freedom of expression; and most importantly, contribute to the complex competences of future specialists. We will give an overview of the modern teaching methods that are most widespread in the scientific and methodological literature and have the potential to form the competences of future professionals. The training, case study, behavioural modelling, peer feedback, play project, metaphor game, storytelling, basket and action learning methods—and their potential in professional training—are briefly described.
The article describes the history of the Nanai people. My work describes the manufacturing technology of this population's artistic handiwork. Having investigated the culture and way of life of the Nanai people, we identified three basic trends: fresco, fancy-work and fish skin currying. The sacred national ornaments range widely in terms of subject, thereby adapting to modern conditions.
Single crystals of a new quaternary compound, ErRh2B2C, were obtained by the flux growth method using molten copper as a flux. The extracted crystals show golden-coloured luster and a maximum size of approximately 1 × 1 × 0.02 mm3. This compound has tetragonal symmetry and appeared to be a derivative of the ThCr2Si2-type; the lattice parameters are a = 0.36848(2) nm and c = 1.05520(3) nm. The electrical resistivity parallel to the a-b plane of the crystal decreases with decreasing temperature. The residual resistance ratio ρ (273 K)/ρ (1.5 K) is 1.38. No superconductivity was observed down to 1.5 K. The search for similar types of new compounds was performed using the arc-melting synthetic method. The new quaternary RRh2B2C compounds are obtained for R = La – Er (except Eu) and Y. The phase stability of RRh2B2C was discussed.
This paper studies an optical fibre grating flow sensor through research and extension of “King's law” to make full use of the advantages of optical fibre sensing and to improve the shortcomings of a traditional gas flow sensor. Using the constant-current source as a heat source for this sensor and using an optical fibre grating temperature sensor for a temperature survey in the auxiliary pipe and the air pump, the pipeline's gas flow is determined though King's law. The experimental results indicate that the temperature sensor can respond quickly to the gas temperature; in addition, via conversion into a flow measurement, the results indicate that the novel natural gas flow sensor is stable and effective.
A better understanding of the health behaviours and their association with support systems can help to promote the health behaviours of breast cancer survivors in different cultural contexts. This study explored health behaviour changes within a familial–social–cultural context among Korean populations diagnosed with breast cancer. A comparative qualitative study was conducted with five focus groups of Korean–Americans living in the US and Koreans living in Korea. The common themes among the Korean–Americans and Koreans were 1) the impact of family on a healthy life, 2) recommendations concerning health behaviour practices from physicians, and 3) support from the religious community/faith. The findings also provided an insight into different perspectives related to health behaviour changes and support systems under different cultural contexts. This study sheds light on the importance of developing culturally tailored health behaviour interventions with appropriate support systems for Korean breast cancer survivors.
Using a panel of 73 countries from 2000 to 2008, this study uses Investment Development Path theory as a framework that utilises institutional quality (IQ) as a threshold for the effect of economic development on OFDI. Using the dynamic threshold model, we find new evidence that the strong promoting effect is initiated when IQ is within a certain interval, which is supplementary to IDP theory. Finally, we propose the corresponding advice.
This thesis will examine past research to study the postmodern era's core idea and shed light on how this idea relates to modernism, i.e., the previous era. The thesis will also consider the foundation upon which these eras are built and see what they have in common and what sets them apart. The eras have humanism in common, but conformism (or standardization) and pluralism separate them. Through the dualism of Greek philosophy and the fall story of the Old Testament, I will show the origins of conformism and pluralism and propose a path to overcome them. I will discuss how, as Christianity comes across Greek dualism, the field of practical theology and theological practice has trended toward prioritizing theoria over praxis. In the tradition of Hebrew beliefs and the good news of Jesus Christ, practice and life are one, and I will emphasize that if one was to be prioritized, it should be practice. Life in the early Churches, which began through Jesus Christ and his disciples, was based on the practice of the Triune God's love through the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Hence, a newly reflected paradigm based on the threefold love of Trinity is required in the postmodern era.
Sarcopenic obesity (SO) in the elderly is associated with a loss of independence and the occurrence of metabolic complications. Despite this clinical importance, the associations of SO with various health outcomes in Asian elders are unclear. This study aimed to examine the association of SO with the prevalence of chronic illness and mobility limitations among 1204 subjects (576 men and 628 women) over the age of 60 from the Fifth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES V-1, 2010). The patients were placed in four categories based on body composition: normal, sarcopenic non-obese, normal obese, and SO. Data regarding functional dimensions were extracted from the EQ-5D in the KNHANES data (i.e., mobility, self-care, and usual activities). Pain/discomfort data were also extracted. The prevalence of SO was higher among the women than the men (7.2% vs. 4.1%). Hypertension and arthritis were associated with increased likelihoods of SO. People with SO were more likely to report problems in mobility (OR: 3.34, 95% CI, 1.97–5.65), self-care (men: OR: 2.92, 95% CI, 1.05–8.07, women: OR: 2.33, 95% CI, 1.29–4.21), and usual activity (men: OR: 2.28, 95% CI, 1.02–5.08, women: OR: 2.13, 95% CI, 1.29–3.52). In conclusion, our results showed that SO was associated with mobility, self-care, and usual activity problems. With the rapid ageing that is occurring in Korea, more attention should be given to the prevention and management of sarcopenic obese seniors.
