A basic premise in the literature is that social relationships allow their members to access new knowledge that favours innovation activities. However, empirical studies have mainly analysed these relationships in the manufacturing sector, while studies analysing them in the tourism industry setting have been particularly scarce. This paper examines the links between the external and internal social relationships of managers and innovation results, contemplating the mediator role of the dynamic capacities. The data obtained from 109 companies that manage hotel establishments in Spain show that external relationships and the capacity to detect changes in the environment determine the introduction of innovations in this sector.

There has been tremendous growth in the on-line market compared to the traditional market, and is considered as a great opportunity for companies to develop their economic activity in the on-line market to the detriment of the traditional market. Based on the above and in order to identify the level of loyalty as an essential element in the commercial success of a company, a formula is presented that aims to identify the aspects that influence the process of generating loyalty in the on-line market. Thus, using an analysis of structural equations that will enable the level of loyalty in the online market to be defined, as well as the quality of service from a company, and the level of satisfaction and consumer engagement.

This paper contributes to demonstrate the relevance of trade credit in the finances of the Spanish manufacturing companies. A theoretical and empirical analysis is made of the aspects of trade credit: its role within financial and economic crisis, and the relevance of diversification of activity, as well as the type of customer that receives trade credit. The main conclusions are, first, that the increase in trade credit granted in times of crisis causes companies to be less competitive and, secondly, evidence is provided that shows that diversification of activity and the fact that customers are more or less homogeneous are crucial to the trade credit policies.

The objective of this paper is to determine how managers training and managerial ability influence innovation in the company. Using a sample of 316 large Spanish companies, the results demonstrate that managers training has a positive effect on the development of the ability of this group of workers and that this, in turn, improves innovation in the company. The analyses also establish a mediating role for managerial ability between manger training and innovation.

Total quality management is frequently associated with an improvement in company performance. Within the different dimensions involved in this concept, the “soft variables” have shown to be the main responsible dimensions of these improvements in organizational performance in previous studies. The objective of the present study is to analyze how companies with a quality orientation promote the development of certain organizational practices of an intangible character related with the improvement in performance. Some of these variables are organizational culture, market orientation, human resource management, and leadership.
There is no generally accepted empirical framework of the relationships between these variables. The proposed model consists of direct and mediated relationships between them, using a Structural Equation Modeling to test the model. Results show that a culture that promotes flexibility with a mixed internal and external orientation, tends to lead to total quality management, and the implementation of practices such as a customer orientation, human resources management, or a style of leadership that fosters the effect of total quality management in the company performance.

Strategic human resource management (SHRM) emerged as a discipline focused on the strategic contribution of employees to the success of the organisation. Despite its theoretical diversity, a broad-based consensus has been reached regarding the need for considering two criteria in the design of HR strategies: vertical and horizontal fit. Nevertheless, as different studies have argued, there are some implications of the double fit that still need to be addressed, especially on why firms with similar levels of consistency show different human resource outcomes. In trying to advance this line of research, the objective of this paper is to analyse theoretically the extent to which the implementation of well-designed strategies can fail because of employee perceptions about the human resource management system. The majority of the practices that build this system seek to influence organisational performance by affecting employee motivation, attitudes, and behaviours, so they are highly dependent on how employees interpret the signals sent from the human resource management department.

Investor decision-making is often based on a previous analysis, but their mood can be affected by many reasons. The aim of this paper is to analyze if the effect of the results of the national soccer teams influences the outcome of their national stock indexes. This is a statistical analysis of the trading sessions following a football match of the national team. Their profitability is measured through the variation rate of the session and intraday variation rate. This national football team has won a World Cup.
