This study aims to explore English-majored students’ perceptions of the value of internship and their levels of satisfaction with regard to three workplace dimensions including job characteristics, work environment characteristics, and contextual factors. Fifty interns from the Faculty of English at Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance (UEF) participated in this project. Data were collected through questionnaires and then quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed. The results indicated that the majority of the interns had positive perceptions of the internship experience and demonstrated their maturity and responsibility. The students also expressed high satisfaction with job characteristics, specifically skill variety, autonomy, feedback, and work-related factors such as co-workers and supervisor support. However, they were somehow dissatisfied with contextual elements such as the working hours and compensation. These findings can assist academic institutions, academic supervisors and host companies in providing students with effective internship experience and enhancing their workplace skills.

This is a comparative study of two works by Nam Cao and Hyun Jin-Geon dealing with intellectuals, Hyun Jin-Geon's “My Destitute Wife” and Nam Cao's “A Redundant Life”. I have focused on the comparison of the narrative perspective and the artistic view of the two works as the main part of this comparative study. These two works both deals with the story of a married couple. Also, both of the stories feature a husband who is a poor writer. Works of realism are created from an objective point of view. In accordance with such characteristics, Hyun Jin-Geon's work objectively and calmly depicts the narrator even though it is from a first-person point of view. On the other hand, Nam Cao's work is based on an objective narrative point of view in which the characters in the work, the wife and husband, appear in the third person perspective, but express Nam Cao's unique polyphonic voice through the movement of perspective. These similarities and differences contain the same artistic intention to create works with vitality that go beyond realism or narrative perspectives. Their views on art share a valuable literary idea sufficient to lay the groundwork for realism in both countries. It is true that the history and culture of Korea and Vietnam are different from each other in their views on art, but their artistic ideas have provided high value to the literature of both countries. They use their own language to capture the cry of those who suffer, face the cause of life becoming hopeless, and urge them to live their lives with all their might. As writers under colonial rule, they were writers who conveyed light in the darkness of history. Their artistic conception does not stop at targeting intellectuals as in this study but also conveys the same message in other works relating stories of women and the lower classes.

Previous findings by Köprülü (2014) indicated that at least 75% of communication taking place in the classroom was non-verbal behavior; besides, nonverbal messages were supposed to reflect what an individual was actually thinking and feeling more accurately. Based on this specific function, the present study explores the relation between students' nonverbal classroom behaviour and academic interest and achievement. Two hundred eighty-eight students from Vietnam National University and other universities participated in this study. Questionnaire survey and observation were the primary methods used. The results showed a low positive correlation between students’ frequency of nonverbal behavior in the classroom and their learning interests. However, students’ learning interest explained 18% of the variation of their gestures relating to a sitting posture, in which two variables named positive emotion and assignment completion contributed significantly to the regression model. This finding suggested that the lecturers could rely on students’ behaviors, such as sitting with their back straight, looking at the lecturer, and nodding, to determine students’ academic interests during class.

STEM education is becoming a trend of modern education. In 2018, Vietnam promulgated a new General Education Program. In particular, STEM education is considered an inevitable consequence of the transformation of educational goals, from focusing on knowledge formation to developing students' competencies. STEM education is encouraged to apply not only in potential subjects such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics but also in all subjects in the educational program. Through this, it can be seen that STEM education is highly valued by the builders of the general education program in our country. On the basis of analyzing and synthesizing research on STEM education, summarizing experiences in implementing STEM education in some localities of Vietnam, this article focus on analyzing the nature and characteristics of STEM education, analyzing approaches in STEM education and applying them to design STEM education topics for primary school students.

Based on comparison of previously published digital competency frameworks, the author proceeds to develop a research model and propose a digital competency framework suitable for secondary school students in Vietnam. Around the world, different assessment tools have been implemented to evaluate individuals’ digital competency. Within the scope of this research, the author utilizes a digital competency self-assessment questionnaire and a checklist on the process of performing tasks that are related to competence in applying information technology. With this, the study aims to propose a scale as well as develop a scale and a tool to assess the digital competence of secondary school students. At the same time, the study would provide guidance to enhance digital competence for learners in the context of implementing the General Education Curriculum (2018).

School setting is an effective environment for primary mental health care for students. There have been many mental health support programs in schools for students, most of which are predesigned. The objectives of this paper are: i) To introduce the co-creation approach; and ii) To narratively describe the process of co-creating a mental health promotion program for 04 secondary schools and 04 high schools in Nghe An and Khanh Hoa, Vietnam. Students, teachers, parents and local authorities were the involved stakeholders. Mixed methods including narrative research, observations, open-ended and closed-ended questionnaires were used. The results show that using co-creation approach to develop a mental health promotion program is feasible and applicable in Vietnam. Challenges, learnt lessons and discussion about feasibility of the co-creation process to develop the school-based mental health promotion program are also mentioned in the paper.

Creativity is the "key" to bringing the world to continuous development because creative thinking helps people discover and invent great works that change the world. In the digital age, people's creative thinking is more appreciated than ever. This article will present the definition of creativity according to four major approaches: process, person, products and press. Next, the research on measuring creativity will be reviewed on the basis of synthesizing studies in the world and in Vietnam. For each approach, the world's most commonly used creativity measures are introduced, the advantages and disadvantages of each approach and creativity measurement tools are discussed and analysed to guide the measurement of creativity in research and practice. Studies measuring creativity in the country are also compiled and evaluated according to these approaches to point out gaps that contribute to the direction of further studies.

Phrasal verbs (PVs) are notably essential for English language learners due to their common use in spoken and informal written language; however, English as a foreign language (EFL) learners may find it difficult to master phrasal verbs, not only at receptive but also productive levels. The syntactic and semantic complexities prove much more troublesome in academic writing for those learners whose mother tongue does not feature phrasal verb formations. Therefore, this study aims at exploring English majors’ difficulties with phrasal verbs in terms of syntactic, semantic properties, and formality and informality of phrasal verbs in academic writing at a tertiary institution in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The participants of the study consisted of 124 English majors. The quantitative and qualitative research methods were applied to collect data via questionnaire and semi-structured interview. The SPSS software (20.0) was used to process the quantitative data collected from questionnaires, while the content analysis was applied to analyze the qualitative data collected from semi-structured interviews. The results revealed that research participants faced difficulties in academic writing most from the semantic property, followed by the formality and informality of phrasal verbs and the syntactic property. Such preliminary findings are hoped to contribute to a better understanding of English as a foreign language learners’ difficulties with phrasal verbs as well as to enhance the quality of academic teaching and learning.
