Understanding the importance of comprehensive education, the direction of the National University of Hanoi until March 2023 is to develop a comprehensive education model for first-year students at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi - Hoa Lac. This initiative is being led by the Director of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Le Quan, will be implemented from the first semester of the academic year 2023-2024 with the goal of "being physically healthy, mentally strong, and socially skilled" [1]. VNU National Defense and Security Training Center is a member unit of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi with the function of providing national defense and security knowledge training. It is an ideal place for students to participate in learning activities that meet the objectives of the project. A research article on the effectiveness of comprehensive education in managing first-year students at the Center for National Defense and Security Education was conducted using methods such as soft skills training, organizing extracurricular activities, and improving physical and mental education for students. The statistical results show that after completing the National Defense and Security Education program, students observed significant changes in their soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and time management, as well as adopting a more scientific lifestyle and improving their physical fitness. Therefore, it can be seen that the application of comprehensive education in managing first-year students at the Vietnam National Defense and Security Training Center has been effective in improving the quality of extracurricular and sports activities and achieving positive results.

This article aims to propose a set of topics for experiential activities in defense and security teaching that can enhance learners' abilities to learn about nature and society. The article begins by highlighting the importance of defense and security education in shaping learners' understanding of the role of military and security forces in protecting the nation and society. The article then presents five topics for experiential activities, which include visiting security and military agencies, practical experience in military training, practicing emergency response skills, learning self-defense techniques, and engaging in social activities related to security. The article argues that these activities can not only help learners gain a better understanding of defense and security but also provide them with opportunities to develop essential skills such as decision-making, problem-solving, and collaboration. Furthermore, the article suggests that these activities can instill a sense of civic responsibility and a willingness to contribute to the community's safety and well-being. Overall, the article proposes that incorporating experiential activities into defense and security teaching can enrich learners' learning experiences and foster their abilities to learn about nature and society. By providing hands-on experiences and opportunities for practical application, defense and security education can prepare learners to be responsible and engaged citizens who understand the importance of national defense and community safety.

Learners’ feedback is a common method used in higher education institutions, and is an effective tool in evaluating, adjusting and improving educational quality. By now, taking feedback from learners has become mandatory for higher education institutions in Vietnam and many countries around the world. For VNU National Defense and Security Training Center, its specific and distinctive training gives the tasks of taking feedback from learners its own specificity. Every course and year, the Center organizes feedback collection in different forms, amongst which the form of direct dialogue between the Center's leaders and the representatives of learners is carried out as required part of internal procedure in the unit, so as to promptly improving the quality of activities. The survey results showed 95.2% of the respondents answered that they were polled during their study at the Center; 98% of learners thought that feedback was well received and resolved satisfactorily; 100% of staff and lecturers think that the feedback of learners has a positive effect in improving the quality of activities at the Center. The survey results also show that there are still some tasks not well carried out, such asS not having a scientific questionnaire system, not having a rich form of feedback, not effectively using statistical and analysis tools, feedback and the use of feedback are not systematic and scientific, there has not been an evaluation of the effectiveness of feedback processing, whereby quality improvement has not been highly effective, requiring the Center to need further research and improvement.

Constructing a noble and healthy culture, a fundamental basis of the socio-political spirit, and the driving force of national development is one of the top priorities of our Party. Given the unique nature of defense activities and the task of safeguarding the Homeland in the new context, the establishment of a military culture plays a significant role and is an objective and essential requirement. The Center for Defense and Security Education at the National University of Hanoi, with its functions and responsibilities encompassing education and training in the Party's line, defense and security work of the Party and State, as well as necessary military knowledge and skills tailored to students based on the Ministry of Defense's classification. With a profound understanding of these issues, the Center consistently integrates leadership and guidance into all educational and training activities in tandem with the establishment of a military culture for students. This has become a continuous directive, with well-organized plans and the maintenance of discipline, resulting in significant achievements that collaborating units have acknowledged and highly evaluated. Nonetheless, during the process of cultivating military culture for students, some limitations have been identified, such as irregular involvement in the establishment of military culture, inadequate grasp of academic progress and training of students among the faculty and instructors, and instances of concealing each other's shortcomings among students, as well as a limited ability to engage in struggle and critique against deviant ideologies and behaviors regarding military culture. These limitations consequently impact the training objectives and requirements. Therefore, the VNU Center for Defense and Security Education must continue researching and innovating to enhance the effectiveness of its efforts to build a military culture among students.

In response to the requirement of defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland in the new situation, our Party and State advocate strengthening defense and security education in the whole society, which is being considered a strategic mission and playing crutial role, According to the classification on training by the Ministry of National Defense applied at the Center for Defense and Security Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, students of colleges and higher education are pioneer citizens and great future resources of the country of the country. The objective of the study is to build up the citizen's awareness of defendingthe Fatherland for students through the subject of National Defense and Security Education. The research methods are carried out on the basis of basic surveys on lecturers and students through each course and annually at the VNU National Defense and Security Training Center. The research results show that the Center has attached the knowledge of national defense and security to the building of citizens' awareness of the Fatherland defending obligation for students, and successfully completed the task. However, it does have some limitations: the link between knowledge acquiring and students' awareness is not profound enough; there is also the concept that students' learning outcomes are on top of all, failed to highlight to the students personal cultivation and awareness to be ready for the obligation of protecting the Fatherland,... As a result, it has some unexpected effect uponthe objectives and requirements of the subject, therefore, it is necessary to continue researching to promote a better citizen's awareness of the obligation to protect the Fatherland through the subjects.

Before the new demands and tasks of safeguarding the Fatherland in the new situation, the education and cultivation of national defense and security knowledge is the right and responsibility of every citizen. Accordingly, students from colleges, universities nationwide in general, and the Hanoi region in particular, need to be educated to enhance their awareness of the Party's direction and the work of national defense and security, as well as the necessary and appropriate military knowledge and skills, to be ready to participate in fulfilling military duties when necessary. VNU National Defense and SecurityTraining Center, with its assigned functions and tasks, carries out the regular and important mission of organizing the linkage of national defense and security education with affiliated units according to the categorization of the Ministry of National Defense. Since its establishment until now, VNU National Defense and SecurityTraining Center has consistently organized the effective coordination of training in the field of national defense and security education for students from educational institutions in various categories, with tens of thousands of courses to meet training objectives and requirements, successfully completing the mission. Alongside the achieved results, the implementation process has encountered limitations and shortcomings that have had a certain impact on overall activities. This places a demand on VNU National Defense and SecurityTraining Center to continue researching content and methods for better implementation of training linkage with affiliated units, contributing to the enhancement of training quality.
