The research analyzes the construction of LGBT+ characters and plots in Spanish serial fiction shown on distribution platforms in the last decade. It uses critical discourse analysis, which is divided into macro level and micro level analysis. The microanalysis is composed of topics, lexicalization and propositional framing. The results show, among others, that the majority of characters appear in marginal contexts, that recurring stereotypes continue to be used, and that LGBT+ orientation and identity are presented in a negative or ambiguous manner.

The article starts from the objective of analyzing the way in which the conditions of journalistic production in Cuban independent media are manifested in reference models of professional practice. Theoretical-conceptual references were assumed for its study at the transnational, of structure and normativity, of extra-media relationships, operational-organizational and individual levels. It was based on in-depth interviews with media professionals and documentary analysis. It is argued that oppositional models of multiple intervention are generated in the analyzed media.

The present study aims to examine the effectiveness of three health campaigns with different types of framing aimed at young people during the COVID-19 pandemic. We also analyzed the emotional impact of each campaign, as well as the role of self-efficacy in the success of the analyzed campaigns. The results show that the more moderate and less explicit message, but closer to the reality of young people, had a more effective emotional impact. Furthermore, as regards self-efficacy, the results show its discriminating role in the success of the campaigns analyzed.

This paper focuses on the results of research into how LTBI+ women are represented in Spanish original fiction series broadcast on streaming platforms. Analyzing the content of 749 characters shows a slight under-representation of non-heterosexual orientations, a greater representation of GTBI+ men than LTBI+ women, and no trans male or non-binary characters. Finally, stereotypical female traits are accentuated in LTBI+ characters compared to cis-heterosexual women.

The aim of this essay is to reflexively recover the processes of elaboration and conceptual as well as methodological development of a heuristic model of an “academic field”, in search of interpreting the conditions and intentions of the institutionalization of communication studies in Mexico. These have been assumed for more than three decades in terms of a meta-research proposal, which in turn serves to recognize and articulate the research practices in their diverse contextual scales. The contribution of the journal Comunicación y Sociedad is located in this trajectory.

This paper analyzes the journalistic coverage of social movements in Ibero-America over the last ten years (2011-2021). A systematic review of the literature was carried out to analyze the diffusion of social activism in the press. Thus, the set of sources was analyzed, identifying, in the traditional media, coverage related to the political power and the reinforcement of stereotypes, and, in digital journalism, an approach that delves into the causes and consequences of social movements, providing them with spaces for discussion and collective practices.

This study departs from a common framework of analysis to compare the internal communication practices of seven csas from Portugal. By looking at governance, economy, knowledge, technology and eco-social justice, our findings reveal there is no food commoning without communication. Based on action-research and militant ethnography methods, the study combines a focus group, visual methods and interviews, and contributes with an original approach to communication studies from a commons epistemology.

A network product of the virtual march of LGBT+ Pride in Mexico City is analyzed in the context of covid-19. Through the Social Networks Analysis (SNA), 7 558 nodes and 13 527 interactions were collected around the hashtag #ElOrgulloPermanece during June 2020. Among the results, it stands out that the users with the greatest relevance on the Internet are producers of LGBT+ content, who together with other users build a collective sense through the interaction and dissemination of said content. These communicative practices are part of contemporary activism.
