This study investigates hotel maintenance management practices and the barriers in implementing these practices from maintenance managers’ viewpoint in the Egyptian 5-star hotels. The study used the comprehensive sample. A total of 160 questionnaires were distributed to the maintenance mangers in the Egyptian 5-star hotels. The results indicated that the practices of ‘maintenance management plan’ and ‘maintenance management team’ play the most significant role in influencing their maintenance efficiency. The results also indicate that ‘Insufficient fund for maintenance job’ and ‘Lack of skilled personnel in maintenance departments’ are the major barriers responsible for the poor implementation of maintenance management. This study provides guidance and references for better building maintenance management system for Egyptian hotels. It would enable the hotel operators to achieve better maintenance efficiency through various strategies and practices.

This study investigates safety and security measures from Egyptian hotel guests’ viewpoint, through assessing the importance level and usage level of measures and testing the gap between the importance and usage of measures. Using IPA Methodology, a stratified random sample was chosen. 500 questionnaires were randomly distributed to the guests in the 5-star hotels. The results indicated that the highly important and rarely usage measures are related to three dimensions; “Medical Preparedness, Guestroom Security, and Emergency Preparedness”. Meanwhile, the less important and widely usage measures are related to two dimensions; “Detectors, and Access Control”. Additionally, there is a statistically significant gap between the importance level and the usage level of measures. Hence, there are opportunities for changes and improvements in Egyptian hotels.

The first edition of this award-winning manual was published to universal acclaim. Now the guide is once more available in an even better edition. Still magnificently illustrated, still comprehensive, it now has even more color photographs plus new black and white and line pictures and a totally new chapter on filters. The whole book also has been thoroughly updated. This book is important because the author are convinced that no book has yet been produced which provides the up-and-coming photographer with the necessary information on technique. The author has attempted to put this to rights by including such information in order to provide the reader with maximum assistance in efforts towards advancement. In many instances more than one picture of the same subject have been included to provide a comparison of results which occur with different techniques-or to show the right and wrong ways to take a picture.

In today's competitive environment, analytical models should be specialized by sector. With this point of view, the HOLSAT model is developed especially for the tourism sector. In this research, new components are added to the HOLSAT model in light of the SERVQUAL approach. After collecting the data with an online survey, SEM was used to investigate the effects of dimensions of SERVQUAL on HOLSAT. Statistical analyses showed that transportation is affected by reliability, physical assets is affected by tangibles and assurance, accommodation is affected by tangibles and assurance, ability to solve problems is affected by reliability and responsiveness, social life is affected by tangibles and assurance, and heritage and culture is affected by reliability. With this research, a new customer satisfaction model is developed for tourism managers and a new approach is developed for researchers.

This study applies Difference in Difference (DiD) method to evaluate the policy effect on hotel industry. This study uses the International Tourism Hotels (ITHs) in Taiwan as the subjects. The operational and managerial data of ITHs are collected from the reports by Taiwan Tourism Bureau. The data contained 70 hotel units from year 2005 to 2010. In 2008, the government relaxed the entrance limitation for the tourists from China and the number of inbound visitors has been increasing tremendously. However, our research results indicate that the open policy for visitors from China have no significant positive effect on the profitability of ITHs. Tourism policies can lead to unexpected results to different tourism industry with different operational scale, which should be taken into consideration when making business strategies or governmental policies.
