The primary purpose of this study was to enhance students’ class participation in the case of second year tourism management students registered for ‘research methods in tourism’. In order to accomplish research objectives, data were collected from the second year tourism management students. All second yeartourism management students registered for the course research method in tourism were the participants of the study; the total numbers of the students are 65 but out of this 51 questionnaires were correctly filled and returned. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches were employed with descriptive research design. Self-administered questionnaire, 5 FGD having 12 members and observations for some sessions were used to collect the data. The reported instruments were prepared in English and they include both open ended and close ended type of questions; open ended questionnaires were prepared not to limit respondent’s idea. Once the data collection stage was over, collected responses were organized in the form of tables by using percentage and Chi-square analysis. The result revealed that student’s level ofparticipation is highly affected by different factors such as in advance preparation, delivery of teaching material in advance, applying different active teaching methods by the instructor, availability of different rewarding means, mixing low achievers with medium and high achievers, language and student self-confidence. As a result, majority of the students (86.3%) have positive attitude on active participation since they believed that active participation will help them to share new ideas with their friends. Though some students are still inactive perhaps due to different psychological and personal factors that need further investigation; the actions implemented also bring some important changes that enhanced students’ class participation.

Water, the most essential element of life is free in nature along with air. About 70% of earth’s surface is covered with water but only 3% of world’s water is fresh. 2% is frozen in the polar ice caps and glaciers and 1% is ground water. Only 0.02% is freshwater lakes and rivers. As the world population increased due to urbanization and industrialization, the demand for water kept rising but the quality kept deteriorating. Water scarcity afflicted many nations and access to clean drinking water and sanitation became difficult. The contrast between tap water and bottled water reflects the contest for authority and public trust between governments and corporations. Packaged drinking water industry has grown in all the developed economics of the world. The product is targeted especially at touring and traveling market segments. The growth of this industry can be due to contamination/shortage of water supply in the cities. The demand for consumption of packaged water in India is estimated at 500 million liters of pure water bottles and the market is expected to grow at a rate of 25-35% per annum.

It is also found that personal and family contacts are a prevalent instrument used in finding a job for those people who lacks competitiveness in hiring practices [3]. The rural workers’ social resources in urban areas are very limited and therefore they usually follow their relatives or fellow-villagers who move to the cities earlier. A research found that around 80% of the female migrant workers in Shanghai hotel industry found their jobs through the personal networks in the city [4].

The objective of this research is to find out the impact of personality type of an employee on his job productivity. A survey of 10,000 individuals was conducted from different cities to elucidate the associations between organizational goals and a number of intra-organizational variables. In this research, author found that there are many factors which affect the employee performance and which are either affected by employee’s performance or employee’s performance is affected by them. Among those factors, personality of an employee plays an important role. The findings of the study also have numerous implications for practitioners. At a strategic level, the study suggests that executives should acknowledge in their change processes that decisions at an organizational level regarding the personality of an employee could have a profound effect on the productivity of an employee. Further, managers of functions may find it beneficial to manipulate a range of intra-organizational variables to enhance employee productivity.

Hotel sector is one of the most influenced by the new information and communication technologies (ICTs) since it generates a vast amount of information which circulates through these new technologies. Additionally, the latter could be a potential source of organizational performance. This paper has an exploratory character and analyses how the new ICTs influence the hotels’ organizational performance. Thus, a descriptive statistical analysis and a study of statistical associations through Cramer’s V have been carried out using data from 106 Valencian Community hotel establishments. The results show, on the one hand, that Internet and Intranet are the most influential technologies on intra-organizational level and, on the other hand, show that the Central Reservation Systems -CRS- and web 2.0 are the most important on an inter-organizational level. Both technologies affect most of the analysed results at organizational level.

This study focused on assessment of community participation in Community-Based Eco Tourism (CBET) development to bring sustainable local development in Choke Mountain and its environs. The study employed mixed research approach and data were collected via extensive review literature, questionnaire, interview, focus group discussion, and field observation. The findings of the study revealed that local communities could be participated in the development of CBET through provision of accommodation services, performing cultural shows, supplying agricultural products, providing tour services, and selling of souvenirs and CBET is a tool for sustainable local development in the rural area of Choke Mountain

Nowadays, firms try to comprehend crucial factors impacting on consumer behaviour to sustain themselves in the market. Although these factors may vary and depend on many external and internal environmental influences this study examines the role of branding, promotion and sub-culture in influencing the consumption of breakfast cereals in Thailand through a qualitative, interpretive approach using as a case study Kellogg’s a well-known international cereal breakfast company. Grounded theory used to analyse findings suggests: branding influences consumer’s purchase decision making in Thailand while age is a contributing factor to consumers’ choices and especially with reference to breakfast cereals. Hence it is important that firms keep adjusting their marketing strategy in line with the changing consumption patterns if they want to keep themselves ahead of the game.

The greening of the hotel industry has been identified as important to the industry for a multitude of reasons. Most importantly, being identified as a green property may lead to enhanced profits. Milton Friedman’s 1962 property rights argument, the theoretical framework used in this study, stated the sole purpose of an organization such as a hotel is profit. Conveying a property’s green qualities is difficult though. Certification has been identified as one important method for conveying a property’s green attributes. Yet, the role green certification can play in a hotel’s profit is not known. This study seeks to identify the profits gained from earning a specific green certification: Green Key Global. This certification program is North America’s most popular with more than 3,000 participating hotels. The data used to make inferences regarding profitability stemming from Green Key certification has been gleamed from recent STR and HVS data. The data focuses on the largest hotel markets in Canada: Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. The upper upscale and luxury properties in this city are compared using STR metrics (e.g. occupancy, supply, demand, Rev PAR, and ADR).

The exploration of biological polymer is a new interest due to its favorable properties used in biomedical and clinical applications. Within the used biopolymer, cellulose emerged as a most exploitable functional material at nanoscale. Working with nanosize cellulose, provides some additional advantages compare to other manmade functional polymers. The fabrication of cellulosic scaffold as a platform for growth and development of cells is a thrust area of tissue engineering but this fabricated scaffold needs to have some fundamental prerequisite before implantation in donor. Thus, this short report discusses about the NC based scaffolds for the growth and development of cells and tissue. The main focus is on derived wood and microbial NCs. Thereafter; some interesting examples will be discussed to understand the necessity of cellulose-based supports in tissue engineering field.
