Many universities have incorporated free and open-source software (FOSS) into undergraduate courses, though few research efforts have specifically investigated the interactions between undergraduates and real-world FOSS projects. In this paper, we present our experience of participating in the development of real-world FOSS projects, dealing with the challenges caused by COVID-19, and the feasibility of remote education with FOSS only. Our experience shows that undergraduates and FOSS projects can help each other well. Moreover, we summarize the strengths and weaknesses of the existing FOSS communities in attracting undergraduates and provide some suggestions.

In education, rapid technological progress in the learning system is helpful as a learning tool. The technology is a body of knowledge that is used for tool formation, processing operation, and material extraction. The development concept is generalized. It is certainly taking various forms for everyone to make their understanding. The use of technology in education will enhance student performance through the use and development of various technical processes and tools in or outside the classroom. A preliminary study was conducted using case study approach on the need of developing the interactive mobile learning platform (IMLP) on cyberbullying knowledges among group of teachers. Besides, the analysis on the problem statement needs lots of works, limited references materials resources that will be exposed on this paper. Our research purposes a development of interactive mobile learning platform towards primary school student on cyberbully knowledges. It is envisaged that the development of the interactive mobile learning platform gives better result towards primary school learning on cyberbully topics.

In the post-epidemic era, online teaching has developed widely due to non-face-to-face contact, thus, the information literacy improvement of university teachers is very important. In this paper, the analysis framework of university teachers' information literacy is constructed at first. On this basis, a questionnaire for measuring university teachers' information literacy is proposed. To validate their feasibility, 133 questionnaires are pretested by using the factor analysis method. Then, the survey data of 402 university teachers are investigated based on the statistical analysis method. The data results show that the university teachers' information literacy can be evaluated by our analytical framework and measurement questionnaire, which is helpful to further research on the development of educational informatization.

The concept of “embedding ideological education into curriculum”, briefly called “curriculum ideology”, can be regarded as a new kind of “holistic education” concept. Implementing curriculum ideology in the teaching of engineering courses can simultaneously cultivate the academic and non-academic abilities of engineering college students. At present, such teaching practices are in the exploratory stage, and effective teaching modes and cases are still desired to support embedding ideological education into engineering curriculum. To alleviate the above problem, a new engineering teaching framework called IKP-CDIO is proposed, and a teaching case under the framework and the teaching effects are detailed with a computer major course named "Software Testing".

This research's goal is to demonstrate the contribution that digital media can have in supporting individuals with cognitive impairment, namely in the access to sensory therapies and clinical follow-up. The study is being developed for the Portuguese context, where this type of therapy is available mainly through Snoezelen rooms. These therapy rooms are mainly located in large urban centers and their supply is far below demand. In the last two years, this situation was significantly worsened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced an even greater limitation to these rooms. This study arises then with the goal of answering to this difficulty of accessing sensory therapies, through the creation of an online solution that works as an alternative and complementary resource. This paper focuses on this research's first phase, in which was conducted the identification and analysis of the problem; the literature review on the role of design for inclusion; the analysis of the digital solutions currently available in the market; and the presentation of the first studies of the prototype that is being developed. The results obtained with this study's first phase show that there is currently no online solution that answers, in a relevant way, to the needs of this community; and that Design, through its methodologies, may offer a contribution to the construction of an interface solution that favours inclusion.

This study explains the factors that enhance Computational Thinking (CT) in the education of Malaysia, specifically for undergraduate students. The purpose of strengthening the CT among the undergraduate students is to ensure the readiness and preparation for the coming industrial revolution, such as Industry Revolution 4.0 and beyond. This study proposes integrating Technology Readiness Index(TRI) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as main factors to examine how it enhances the CT in Malaysian education. In addition, this integration will operate as the main theoretical framework for this research study and form a model in this research study, namely Technology Readiness Acceptance Model (TRAM). This study shall establish a suitable adoption model to integrate computational thinking from the Malaysian education perspective for the future industrial revolution. The discussion and explanation on the factors that enhance CT in Malaysian education are discussed further in the paper.

Writing has been argued to be the most difficult and complex language skill because it comprises multiple aspects, such as lexical and syntactic knowledge, etc. [1], not even to mention writing in a foreign language. The difficulties lead to the pursuit of an effective teaching approach for better acquisition. Task-based language teaching (TBLT), enabling students to practice target language in authentic and meaningful tasks [2], has been applied in writing instruction. In current digital era, integration of technology and TBLT in EFL contexts remains under-researched. This study explores the effects of TBLT with online video exchanges in an English as a foreign language (EFL) writing course on students’ descriptive writing performance. A quasi-experiment was conducted. Students of two writing courses were recruited and randomly assigned as experimental group and control group. The participants in the experimental group were engaged in the writing project to transform their descriptive writing assignments introducing local tourist attractions to videos and exchange them online with foreign virtual peers. A mixed research approach was adopted to analyze the data collected from participants’ compositions and self-reflection. The results revealed that TBLT is effective in developing EFL students’ descriptive writing proficiency. In addition to their writing achievement, the students enjoyed participating in the task while utilizing other multiple skills. Implications of this study for TBLT in EFL writing teaching practices are discussed as well.

According to the characteristics of equal emphasis on both theoretical knowledge and practical technology, this paper discusses the reform of experiment teaching mode in object-oriented programming course. Based on the support of the China University MOOC and PTA platform for program design experiments, a blended teaching mode combined with PBL (Problem-Based Learning), flipped classroom, task driven and online evaluation OJ (Online Judgement) is designed to explore the application of the new practice teaching mode in the course. The course is aiming to develop students' computational thinking skills, which has been proved by practice that the reform has achieved good teaching results. Correspondingly, students' ability of autonomous learning, cooperation, problem solving and creativity have been simultaneously improved.

This study explores the re-adaptation experiences of Chinese returnees from overseas PhD study. Using a mixed-method approach comprising survey (262) and interviews (25), the study reveals that Chinese returnees’ re-adaption experiences highlight reverse culture shocks and obstacles resulting from hectic academic atmosphere, bureaucratic and hierarchical governance, pressured working style and environment, a lack of interpersonal relationship, and unfavourable living environment. Implications for governments, higher education institutions and future research are discussed.
