A PI controller and a generalized predictive control strategy of the temperature inside a cavity of refrigeration are proposed, using Matlab/Simulink environment. The control strategies were applied to a third-order discrete state space system, which computes the internal air temperature according to the temperature at the level of the evaporator exchanger, under the influence of the ambient temperature. The system was obtained by linearization of a pseudo bond graph model of thermal transfers inside the refrigeration cavity. The simulation results were compared to those of the pseudo bond graph model for a classical thermostatic control. The used control strategies allowed an average energy saving of about 70% compared with the conventional on/off controller. The predictive control was more efficient than the PI controller of 23.33 %.

Multiprocessor System on Chip (MPSoC) is a promising way to reduce the processing time required by digital multimedia encoders such the most complex H.264/Advanced Video Coding. MPSoC contributes in this challenge by offering a high performance computing, little system on chip (SoC) surface, and low power consumption. In order to reduce the execution time of H.264/AVC intra only encoding chain, an efficient parallel processing on MPSoC architecture is proposed in this paper. The proposed parallel processing is based on a mixed partitioning which combines slice and macro blocks line level parallelism. The proposed architecture is designed through SoCLib platform. For performances evaluation, three MIPS32 processors are used to accelerate the encoding time. Experimental results for High Definition (HD) video sequences show that the proposed implementation allows a saving of 65.7% in processing time compared to a single CPU execution. Furthermore, the proposed solution is characterized by a relatively low memory size which positively affects the final circuit surface.

This paper is concerned with the robust H∞ filtering for uncertain discrete-time stochastic systems with polytopic uncertainties. To solve this problem we introduce same slack matrix variables and then use a polynomial parameter dependent approach. Then some conditions expressed as strict linear matrix inequality conditions are derived, which can be easily tested by using standard numerical software. This new approach is shown, via a numerical example, to be less conservative than previous results in the quadratic and parameter-dependent frameworks.

This paper presents a sensorless control technique of a directly driven wind synchronous generator. This approach is based on the adaptive sliding mode flux observer and on the adaptive speed estimator. Two sensorless control strategies are applied to the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG): in the first step, we have considered the vector (VC) strategy and in the second one, we have applied the sliding mode control (SMC) strategy. Simulation results investigate good performances of both proposed non linear approaches.

Using the database of a pen-tip moving on (x, y) plane during the human handwriting motion, this paper presents a novel algorithm to generate handwritten graphic traces, which is inspired from the idea of tracing circles by Bresenham multi-axis control algorithm. The effectiveness of this approach should be observed on predicting different cursive Arabic letters and geometric shapes constituting the recorded experimental basis.

This paper presents a backstepping control strategy based on Lyapunov theory for VSC-HVDC transmission systems. The controller is able to ensure the tracking of the output variables and the stability of the studied power system. Indeed, the required performances have been improved using a nonlinear Backstepping method where an integral action is added. The proposed control scheme has been evaluated by simulation study by SPS and Simulink/Matlab software based on an average model of the VSC-HVDC transmission system.

In this design, a microstrip patch antenna was designed and simulated using the CST software. Despite the fact that proposed antenna has only one feeding line and one dielectric substrate, multiband operation frequency is obtained. The proposed antenna is loaded by two narrow slots closed to the radiating edges, and two chip capacitors on the middle of the slots. The values of the resonance frequencies of the proposed antenna depend on the value of the capacitors. By changing the capacitors values, the ratio of the resonance frequencies are decreased due to the increase of the capacitors value, which changes the distribution current on the surface of the patch.

The performance, efficiency and torque characteristics of switched reluctance machines combined with its robust, low cost construction makes that technology an interesting alternative to other machine types chosen for traction applications especially starter/generator. Despite all that merits, the SRM still suffers from many difficulties to build its model because of its inherently multivariable, the strong coupling and especially its high nonlinearity. In this paper, we deal with many modeling methods include numerical, analytical and intelligent approaches are studied. The important aim in this research is to use static results from FEMM simulation as flux-linkage, co-energy, static torque to form a dynamic model of a switched reluctance machine used next as a starter -generator of a hybrid vehicle.

This paper presents a comparison study between two metaheuristics swarm intelligence (SI) techniques based Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (SFLA), to solve images segmentation problems. Performances in terms of Threshold values and run time execution of both Modified PSO (MPSO) and Modified SFLA (MSFLA) algorithms are reviewed and checked through MR brain medical images application that consist of partitioning an image into two regions, so get a binary image. MPSO and MSFLA are based on a new fitness function, which justifies their appointment.
