Owing to the natures of batch processes, such as high nonlinearity, time-varying, and limited batch time duration, their control remains as a challenge to modern industries. This paper takes a typical batch process, injection molding, as an example to present a set of control schemes for batch processes. Advanced control algorithms such as adaptive control and model predictive control have been adopted to deal with the inherent process nonlinear and time-varying characteristics. These control algorithms are all focused on single cycle control performance. A multi-cycle two-dimensional model predictive learning control has been developed for batch processes control to take advantages of batch process repeatability. In this presentation, besides showing the control results/methods, the authors wish to illustrate the development evolution with their understanding of the natures of batch processes in general, injection molding in particular.

With the developing supply chain, fourth Party Logistics (4PL) has been attracting more and more attention from researches. Routing optimization is one of the important issues in 4PL. Based on the analysis of practical problems, considered the cost and time two properties of each node and edge, a mathematical model of the point to point multi-task without edge reuse routing optimization of 4PL is established. Considering the characteristics of the problem, the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm is designed for the problem. The algorithm is tested by numerical analysis with different scale of problems. The results suggested that the algorithm is effective and efficient.

Since large-scale vertical quench furnace is voluminous, whose working condition is a typically complex process with distributed parameter, nonlinear, multi-inputs/multi-outputs, close coupled variables, etc, Hammerstein model of the furnace is presented. Firstly, the nonlinear function of Hammerstein model is constructed by least squares support vector machines regression. A numerical algorithm for subspace system (singular value decomposition, SVD) is utilized to identify the Hammerstein model. Finally, the model is used to predict the furnace temperature. The simulation research shows this model provides accurate prediction and is with desirable application value.

The one-machine scheduling problem with time lags while minimizing the completion time is NP-hard. The problem typically arises in a manufacturing where the next job has to be carried out in a specific time window after the completion of the immediately proceeding job. Scheduling the jobs is to find a shortest path that passes all the nodes and meets all precedence constraints and time lags constraints on AON (Activity-On-Node) net. A nonlinear mathematic optimization model is established based on AON net. A neighborhood search algorithm is proposed to convert the nonlinear model into a linear programming model that could be solved by standard software. Computational results prove that the proposed neighborhood search algorithm is effective.

This paper is concerned with the problem of static output feedback control for the constrained robust model predictive control for uncertainty systems with polytopic description. The existence of a static output feedback control law is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities and the proposed approach is applicable for two different Lyapunov functions. To relax the conservatism of the proposed control law, we present a synthesis approach for controller design. Numerical example illustrates the merits of the proposed design method.

A robotic SWARM testbed is presented in a companion paper, as complementarities, we present a virtual framework of this robotic SWARM testbed for the same objective. The similarities of these two approaches are both trying to implement formation control algorithms onto robots and generate certain criteria to adapt the algorithms to the dynamics of the agents. Comparing to the physical testbed, this virtual framework has a lot of benefits. For instance, the agents can be either any kind of commercialized robots or even the ones not existing that we can design by our own, which means it could have some advanced features, such as self localization capability and global knowledge of their circumstances. These are demonstrated using an example of coordinated standoff tracking task. Furthermore, a virtual framework enables provision of co-simulation capability which is critical for SWARM testbed

This paper implements a hybrid control method combines with Lyapunov switching strategy for a heating system, which is designed both theoretically and practically. Optimal controllers and Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers are combined as hybrid controllers. It can be seen that hybrid controllers have good performance on both system transient and steady-state responses. Optimal controllers give fast set-point change responses, PID controllers provide stable control signals and Lyapunov switching theory ensures system stability. Both theoretical designs and experiments achieve satisfying results although inaccuracies happen during hardware implementations.

As a necessary step of 3D reconstruction, and a premise and base for computer vision obtaining the spatial information of 3D objects, research on the camera calibration methods has great important significance of theoretical study and practical value. This paper introduces a new simply, flexible and more accurate classic camera calibration method based on coplanar points. This method only requires a coplanar target and without camera motion. We use step-by-step calibration thinking, and first calibrate the principal point, and then neglect the lens distortion and linearly solve all the parameters, when high accuracy is required, we can include Weng's lens distortion model and solve the distortion coefficient by nonlinear algorithm. The experiment of images proves the proposed method is accurate and effective.

Each entity has independent decision right in the supply chain. Incentive for each entity is the main reason for the inefficiency in the system under asymmetric information. Supplier can encourage retailer to declare its real type of selling cost by designation for credit period contract in the two-echelon supply chain. So, individual member reaches win-win, meanwhile, the supply chain whole efficiency is improved. Finally, the supply chain profit is analyzed by a numerical example, then, the supply chain profit is compared in the case of different parameters.
