E-business has become a popular way of conducting business in the last decade or two, when economic and social world evolved through progress in Internet and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). In order to succeed, e-business solutions must meet different requirements of different stakeholders, and e-business solution developers and providers must understand which factors have a crucial impact on end user's usage behaviour. The primary objective of this paper is to systematically identify and classify most important factors with a significant direct or indirect impact on end user's decision whether he or she would accept and use a certain e-business technology. A practical outcome of this paper is a proposal for an e-business acceptance model, which could be used to better understand reasons, why certain e-business solutions have higher acceptance rate than other.

The article deals with the issue of the use of business intelligence (BI) software in the segment of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Czech Republic (Moravia-Silesian Region). A similar situation as in the Czech Republic will also is be in Central Europe. Attention is paid mainly to the introduction of BI tools in SMEs. It is discussed the suitability of the SaaS in this type of segment. The results of the survey on ICT use to support decision-making in organizations of SMEs type in the Moravian-Silesian Region are also presented. Following the survey, the cooperation of academic and commercial sphere during the implementation and optimization of BI application in the form of SaaS is discussed.

Verificator is an educational tool for teaching introductory programming at the university level. This study integrates programming anxiety and computer self-efficacy into the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with an aim to examine the factors that affect the acceptance of Verificator by information science students. Data were collected using an online survey questionnaire while the hypothesized relationships in the research model were tested employing the variance-based Partial Least Squares (PLS) technique. Theoretical and practical implications as well as future research directions are presented and discussed.

This paper presents an active learning object design method, which enables the design of educational content, prediction of learning process and creation of problematic learning situations. It presents an algorithm of generation of an active learning object specification by using the proposed method. This paper also analyzes the peculiarities of proposed method by comparing two active learning objects (one of them is implemented in accordance with the specification of this method, and the other one - on the basis of the lecturer's experience only).

Prediction markets have been used to generate various types of forecasts and predictions for nearly two decades. In-house corporate prediction markets are used for collecting and aggregating information dispersed throughout a company. Most of the existing academic research in the area of in-house prediction markets deals with the issue of accuracy. This paper focuses on a different topic: the actionability of in-house corporate prediction markets. The actionability of an in-house corporate prediction market refers to the usefulness of the prediction market in the decision-making process in the company. This paper identifies two improvement factors that have the potential of increasing the actionability of in-house corporate prediction market: allowing for finer grain questions and providing signals for informational needs over a period of time.

Uncertain data mining is well studied and very challenging task. This paper is concentrated on clustering uncertain objects with location uncertainty. Uncertain locations are described by probability density function (PDF). Number of uncertain objects can be very large and obtaining quality result within reasonable time is a challenging task. Basic clustering method is UK-means, in which all expected distances (ED) from objects to clusters are calculated. Thus UK-means is inefficient. To avoid ED calculations various pruning methods are proposed. The pruning methods are significantly more effective than UK-means method. In this paper, Improved Bisector pruning method is proposed as an improvement of clustering process.

The distributed data mining (DDM) become one of the major research topics in information systems over the few past years, after the growth of the networks connectivity, and the data volume as well. At the same time the cloud computing made its appearance and proving that it's the future of: the modern computerization and the new promising solution for resource distribution. The last two points fits the requirements of this new technology to be adapted for the resolution of the DDM problems. In this paper we will present our new approach for the distributed data mining with using of the technologies of the multi-agent systems and the cloud computing. We propose an agent based system that work under a cloud service (SaaS) architecture as a modular, extensible, easy to develop and use DDM system.

In this paper we have analysed concetrations of heavy metals (lead, copper, nickel, zink, mercury, cadmium, and chromium) in wastewater along highways in Croatia. We have used standard statistical methods: analysis of variance, Kruskal-Wallis test and principal analysis. Analysis of variance and Kruskal-Wallis test were used to detect factors that influence the concentration of lead, copper, nickel, and zink in wastewater. We have investigated the influence of the highway section, the side of a highway, and the influence of the season of the year. Principal components were used to identify groups of elements with similar characteristics in wastewater.
